These are silent, potentially scary and impact people's daily lives. They are not a sign of a mental illness and nobody should suffer alone.
A new โbionicโ pair of glasses have helped to restore partial sight of six people by sending video images to their brains. While this is an exciting development, it is still very early days and further trials are needed.

A very happy 96th birthday to our patron Denis Norden. Denis joined the Society as a member in 2004 and became a patron in 2009. We're extremely grateful for his support, helping us raise the awareness of macular disease and the devastating impact it can have on people's lives.
While this treatment is currently only for a rare eye disease, researchers are hopeful this could pave the way for similar treatments for dry AMD to be made available on the NHS.
