The cure for most cases of type 2 diabetes (T2DM) requires fat loss. This thread will discuss research showing restoration of carbohydrate tolerance in those with T2DM through addressing the underlying pathology (ectopic fat) rather than just focusing on symptom management.

The biggest blunder of the low-carbohydrate movement has been their fairytale of type 2 diabetes pathophysiology. It's created an explosion of uninformed but well-meaning adults thinking that carbohydrates cause T2DM, rather than just being a nutrient that exacerbates signs.

Chronic ketosis is so disadvantageous to survival that the one population who spent considerable time in it (the Inuit) developed a population-wide mutation (CPT1a L479) that inhibited their ability to produce ketones, favoring glucose made from amino acids instead.

Ketosis is the natural state of humans. Eating huge amounts of sugar is the only way to significantly lower your ketone levels. Ketones produce more ATP (energy) per molecule than glucose. You'll also avoid glycating your lipids/proteins. (causes brainfog etc.) CHOOSE KETONES

@SBakerMD Wife ( @brianatheroux ) was diagnosed with MS and went blind for 6 months due to its effect on the optic nerves. Had brain lesions. Started eating a shit ton of plants and plant-based fats (Mediterranean-like). Complete remission of disease with MRI-confirmed lesion-free brain.

@aCarnivoreDiet So, if someone starts eating 1 ounce of red meat daily until they wither away and die, it's logical to say that the problem was a carnivore diet?

This! Low-carb diets don't reverse T2D, they mask the symptoms and cause remission. Fat loss is required to actually reverse the disease, which can be done with any number of carbs.

Can someone provide me with links to peer-reviewed data that show increasing fiber intake to be detrimental for health, or removal to be beneficial? Genuinely curious, because why avoid something that is beneficial at best and benign at worst?

Normal triglyceride level is <150 mg/dL, so the entire blood stream contains less than 7.5 grams of triglycerides, or ~1.5 teaspoons. It wouldn't take much dietary fat to put that up! And don't even get me started on amino acids and protein intake. Yikes. Am I doing this right?

I have adapted your slide @CampbellMurdoch and added in some calculations. Can this be correct ? JUST ONE TEASPOON OF GLUCOSE IN THE ENTIRE BLOODSTREAM seems so little! It wouldn't take much to put that up if your insulin wasn't working properly!!

A little late to the party, but science confirms the obvious... that transgendered women (men who believe they are women) retain a 15-30% greater athletic advantage than biological women. A thread.

@FusionProgGuy @SportIsARight I personally don't find the arguments in the thread convincing in light of hard outcome data showing performance benefits of Trans women vs ciswomen after 2 years of hormonal gender confirming therapy. The focus on hormones misses the point.

Can't beat men, so competes against women. When are the sports going to stop allowing this absurdity?

Atherogenesis is a probabilistic event. Higher exposure to LDL via greater serum concentrations and longer exposure time increases the probability of atherosclerosis, all else equal.

@FatsPostingLs It's literally a list of things that are either (1) blatantly false, (2) not exclusive to fat people, or (3) not a benefit 😂
