I rarely mobilise my professional status. But as a Professor of Work and Employment, I can confidently say that £100k is a huge salary. It’s about 3 times the average UK salary. It’s taxed very differently but it’s still a huge salary.

It is striking how almost no elected Republic official is standing with Trump right now regarding this ridiculous, anti-democratic & desperate plea. He has to rely on his kids and Rudy. This ship is sinking. No one want to go down with him.

A reminder that when all these middle class wankers were wringing their hands about CO2 and clamouring for green energy, I was working in the oil and gas industry trying to bring you cheap energy. So don't blame me.

That giant multinational corporations who 10 years ago were the subject of left wing anti-sweatshop boycotts should now be held up by progressives as the weathervane of morality and justice is quite staggering. Their PR consultants are worth every penny.

“This is how people who were unable to find Ukraine on a map only 3 weeks ago now confidently share their strongly-held views about how the conflict came about or what we should do to resolve it.” 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

@DamCou Organisations have to hire such people to comply with the legal crap Blair and Brown foisted on us. Rolling that back should be first priority of any conservative government.

For all those aghast at the total collapse of Britain's political establishment, bear in mind these are the people that listened wide-eyed to Greta Thunberg and held a minute's silence in Parliament for George Floyd. These are not serious people and this was inevitable.

Your regular reminder that much of what goes on in Britain is the middle classes signaling their social position to their peers, often to the detriment of those who aren’t middle class.

I’ve long said that democracy is a means to an end, not an end in itself. If democracy produces horrendous outcomes,it has failed. Very few western politicians seem to agree.

Honestly I feel that the Western political discourse tends to fetishize democracies. And the idea that democracy per se somehow prevents ethnic conflicts and bloodshed may be the most insane, delusional idea in the said discourse. It does not work this way

There’s an amusing delusion among people from former colonies in which you can’t drink the tapwater 60 years after independence that they made the colonial powers rich and successful, and remain vital to their prosperity.

The FBI and CIA being deployed to scupper an election campaign and unseat the subsequent president is a lot closer to a coup than this.

This isn't a coup, it's a farce. It doesn't mean that it's not bad, but the truth is that, in the present conditions, there can't be a coup in the US because there isn't a large enough segment of the American ruling class that feels an existential threat.

Regarding the incident at Manchester airport, in pretty much every country in the world if you attack the police you’ll be doing well to end up only in the hospital rather than the morgue.

Today I’m announcing my support for legislation currently being written that would outlaw attempts by candidates and elected officials to spread lies about free and fair elections when it has the likelihood to stoke violence. My full statement here:
