It’s been so much fun building out my dream desk setup.
Still have so many ideas but I always smile when I see the progress this far.

Nko hapa ArtCafe bypass and there's 4 guys seated here fidgeting and looking over their phones.
I'm pretty sure ni cops.
They are constantly making phone calls in what I believe is Kalenjin.

An acre or more of land in a rural area an hour or 2 from Nairobi.
Planting my own food, some cows and a few dogs with a great bonfire spot for those slow evenings.
Solar power, Starlink for internet and a borehole for water.
Completely off-grid.
A man can dream.
I can't wait for Tuesday. We must be seen!
Please guys, take those leaves. Your jobs will be there when you get back.
Our country is being lost to the IMF and sold to the highest bidder in front of us.
When we lose our fear, they lose their power.

I have mad respect for TikTok and their CEO. They have openly indicated that they’re not selling TikTok in the US and would rather leave the country. Glad seeing some people stand up against whatever messed up stuff is happening behind the curtains.
No more voting under party lines.
No more voting under tribal lines.
We expect full accountability from our leaders. Failure to which we will deem them liable and REPLACE them if need be.
Our country can’t be stolen from us tukiona.

When all is said and done,
The only bill we want to see is one that has MANDATORY PRISON SENTENCES for every government official found to have stolen public funds.
@EACCKenya
instituting fines barely 10 percent of the plundered resources is a joke!

I always have this dream of someday hosting a months long retreat and renting out a nice airbnb by the beach with a great team and just working on cool projects.
Someday.
Babu Owino: Can you shut up as I pump knowledge in your empty mind
Gabriel Kagombe: You are beating drums of war
Babu Owino: I don’t respond to fools
Speaker Wetangula: Respect begets respect. Withdraw and apologise
Babu Owino: I will not. You can give the mic to someone else
Humble opinion:
Devs shouldn’t have to pay outrageous amounts to attend events just to “Network”.
We can organise amongst ourselves and grab some Nyama Choma at some joint and still get the same result.
Paying thousands of shillings just to hang out with other devs is not it.
Watching
@0xNdeto
's interview on Young Techiez.
I especially like what he says about social pressure in the tech space.
People only see the symbols of success but never the struggles people have to go through to get to where they are.
Real growth takes time and patience.
We need another Andela in Kenya. This time by a Kenyan.
Ideally one that picks the most motivated techies and crafts them into some amazing developers.
The potential for a viable tech scene in Kenya is barely exploited.
We should be the ones to lead the charge.
Polite advice:
Please remove dev tools like vscode, git or npm from your portfolio.
Those aren't skills. They're basics.
And stop using percentages to display proficiency in skills.
Like what on earth do you mean by 53% good at Javascript?
She’s finally done 😍
I’ll probably name it at this point 😂
Went with an RTX 3080 TI for the gpu.
This should allow for smooth ultrawide gaming on pretty much every game out there.
The fans cost a ton of money but seems pretty worth it by the final look👌🏾
Picking it up this
Decided to go for the mini build.
Case,cpu,psu and some fans obtained.
Remaining: some more fans and the gpu.
So excited to get this up and running.
Can’t wait for the before and after.
Some advice for my peers in their 20s:
1. Avoid car and microfinance loans.
2. **Always** save part of your money **every time**.
3. Learn how to invest & start as early as possible.
4. Grow your skills and get better at what you do.
The ultimate goal is financial freedom.
Frame 1: My friend took this photo of me in 2020 probably. (Yes. I was using a t-shirt as a mousepad 😬)
Frame 2: Just took it a few minutes ago.
This is the before and after.
Long way to go but grateful for the far I've come.
Unpopular Opinion:
Tech influencers should be quiet about technologies or trends that they have not tried or don’t have any experience in. At least try something out before deciding to air your opinions on things otherwise whatever you’re saying is from a point of ignorance
Just realized I've used my laptop all day and it's just now hitting 24% and I can't remember if I charged it last night. The M chips really revolutionized the definition of a laptop.

Why are techies more drawn to philosophy than other professions?
You'll also notice most techies listen to more alternative music (like metal or hard rock) and have alternative opinions.
Techies are also more likely to be irreligious. Why is it so?
What's the correlation?
I only wish foreigners knew how big their NGO buddies are living in Kenya with their donations.
Only a very small percentage actually goes to its intended task.
We should have open source NGOs where one can track every cent that has been donated.
Or maybe I’m just paranoid.
Last night i came accross this sad story. A charity group raised money across North America to build schools for kids in Kenya only for people at the helm of
@NarokCountyGvt
to embezzle the funds.
@EACCKenya
should descend on those involved in this scam.

I usually say live and let live. We are all products of our environments and the people around us. When I understood that I learned to not judge anyone based on what I see on surface level. If they are not your preference best to just leave them be and focus on your type.
I'm half a mind to buy a tripod and start recording gameplay videos on the setup.
I can maybe do some game reviews and some software engineering content as well from time to time.
Should I do it?
For context:
1. Iran’s president is likely dead in a helicopter crash.
2. Slovakia’s president was almost assasinated 4 days ago.
3. 4 African coups in the past 3 years all French colonies.
4. Gaza and Ukraine wars.
5. Congo attempted coup.
Anyone who has any interest in history and geopolitics knows that we are living in some of the most uncertain times since the Cold War.
All signs actually indicate that we’re in a second cold war between the West and the new players.
The world is extremely unstable right now.
Did my first Space today 😅 Hope I was able to articulate myself well enough and thank you
@HarunMbaabu
and the
@lux_academy
team for hosting the space! Good luck to all the aspiring techies and all the best on your journeys 👏🏾
I'm taking leave to join the protests tomorrow.
It's a great injustice to let other Kenyans fight for me against the oppressors while I sit at home.
No one is special. Join me if you can.If not tomorrow then when? Acha tukule hiyo teargas 😂

2 things I will never understand about tech resellers in Kenya:
1. How are you selling a macbook without mentioning it's processor and RAM?
2. How on earth are you selling a gaming pc/laptop without mentioning it's graphics card and CPU?
We need to get serious as a country 😂
That Kennedy Wangari dude must have some sort of psychological problems.
The guy just blocks everyone then continues lying and lying.
He's gotta be making money somehow from all his lies.
I wonder if the people around him know what a menace he is.
Serial scammer that one.
18 year old me would be proud of all that I have achieved.
He would be pretty pissed off to realize none of it really brought the happiness and satisfaction that they were hoping it would.
We go out for DEDAN KIMATHI.
We go out for JM KARIUKI.
We go out for TOM MBOYA.
For PIO GAMA PINTO.
For ROBERT OUKO.
For JACOB JUMA.
We will not be silenced!

Andela really catapulted a lot of people to success in our local tech industry.
Sad that they only take in senior engineers now.
Whatever they were doing was really great for the community.
Just a reminder to focus on accumulating assets not liabilities.
If you can't get your money to work for you ASAP, you will work to your last breath.
The earlier the better.
Freedom lies on the other side of financial independence.
Word to the wise.
Tech Thoughts:
Just because you're based in a certain geography doesn't mean you have to build your digital products for that demographic alone.
The world has never been smaller.
Don't focus on Kenya or Africa. The world is your oyster.
The fact that 51% of people who earn more than $100,000 (likely a lot of techies) reported living paycheck to paycheck shows you that it's not really about the money you make it's about what you do with the money that you have. Learn to make your money work for you in 2024 🦾

The speakers on macbooks are so incredible!
My M1 Pro is probably the best money I have ever spent. This machine has improved my life in so many ways.
Let no one lie to you. Apple is unmatched in the laptop game. Especially if you want to get things done.
Worth every penny.
This is why I gave up thinking of working for Kenyan orgs.
If you can, try to get remote jobs from Europe, the UK or the US.
The exploitation by Kenyan employers is just too much.
Even if the pay is bad at least you won't be exploited like I've seen so many times here.
One thing people usually don’t consider when having kids is the financial responsibility it requires.
Having a child is going to be the most expensive venture you ever undertake in life. From diapers to food to education to medical treatment.
Just plan ahead. It’s more about
Honest question to childless people who want to have children in future:
If you don't do it in your 20's(20-27) when will you ever do it? Remember life never slows down at any point, and the more you wait, the more the wheel of life speeds up.
Sometimes I sit and wonder, is there really any achievement out there that will stop the anxiety?
Is there something I can work towards that will make me calm down and take it easy?
So far the answer's always been no.
Maybe I'm just not there yet?
More questions than answers.
The best way to make your first Ksh 1 million is to make your first Ksh 500k.
And the best way to make your first Ksh 500k is to make your first Ksh 100k.
Break down your goals into smaller more realistic goals and it will shock you how easier it is to do.
Just start saving.
Kenyan tech twitter really needs to stop hating from the outside.
If people want to build fintechs what is it to you to tell them not to?
Let people build what they want to build and if you’re not offering any constructive advice then just keep your it to yourself.
Relational databases will always be better than all these other alternatives.
I don't get why people say that non-relational databases are simpler.
I find them complicated and are unsuitable for data intensive apps.
Just started it but Red Dead Redemption 2 is already one of the coolest games I’ve ever played.
The amount of things you can do and experience in this game is something I’ve never seen before.
And the story and setting is really one for the ages!
Been having so much fun building this little project 🚀
My main goal for this project is to simply make a tool that I can actually use on a regular basis that will solve my specific needs.
Once that’s done I can try seeing if it can solve the needs of other people.
Looking to get your finances in order but not sure how to start?
Step 1: Eliminate ALL debt.
Step 2: Save up 3 months of expenses
Step 3: Save up 6 months of expenses
Then focus on investing at least 30% of your monthly income.
Do this and you'll thank yourself one day.
BREAKING: Microsoft Announces $1 Billion Investment in Kenya’s Digital Ecosystem
US Tech giant Microsoft Corporation, in collaboration with G42, an Emirati artificial intelligence (AI) development company, has announced a $1 billion investment in Kenya’s digital ecosystem, the
One aspect of building wealth that’s often understated is humility.
Spending money to show people how much money you have will always blow up in your face eventually.
The only way to win in the game of social comparison is simply not to play.
It’s only in Kenya where we have blackout tourism.
Where a random blackout forces you to relocate to someplace with power so you can continue working or even wait out the blackout.
Im sure entertainment joints make a killing during blackouts.
Anyways,

today.
Pro tip: Don't use bold fonts too much in your mobile apps. It just looks so much cleaner without them!
Still a lot of work to be done but I love how it's coming along.

Ive spend most of my day robbing wagons, shooting bounty hunters and bandits, collecting debts, riding horses and singing at campfires.
Day well spent if I do say so myself.
If you've got some 250k laying around somewhere and are wondering where best to invest it I recommend you look up Mansa X. It's a great investment if you meet the minimum amount mentioned.
I've been getting 17-18% net interest and it's probably the best investment vehicle in
