Without immediate universal N95 use in hospitals and LTC our HCWs will suffer the same fate. We cannot allow this to happen, they have been through so much already this pandemic. We need Canadian leadership to step up and be proactive.

Why ask a foreign owned company to come to rescue Canadians from a problem we already have the solution for? We make MILLIONS of world leading N95s in Canada already. The issue is health authorities denying science, not manufacturing shortages…
On May 10, 2022, Vitacore Industries Inc. received approval for its CAN99 9500 respirator from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). NIOSH is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the United States.

We have received many amazing stories of people being protected by respirators over the past 16mo. These stories are the motivation and passion behind our teams hard work. Here is one of our favorites :
Vitacore was created to protect Canadian front-line workers with world class products and innovation. While our mission has grown, some of those we serve are now… smaller. Introducing the Children’s CAN99e.
In the past year we recycled 8.8m single-use masks. Our team is inspired daily by our amazing collection partners across Canada, as well as many others around the world working collaboratively to protect our planet & our future.

We designed the CAN99 to maximize fit, filtration & breathability. We had a closed cell foam in early prototypes but dropped it because it lowered the diversity of faces that passed fit testing and could not be recycled. We are working on a recycleable foam that increases fit.

We’ve used foam in many prototypes but found it decreases the number of face morphologies that pass a fit test. Below is the main reason why (as
@FitTestMyPlanet
has previously identified). We have a new prototype where the foam extends to the headband welds that may solve this.

Our earloop respirators were designed to provide a comfortable option that provided a significant increase in protection (1-5% leakage) vs a surgical mask (80%+ leakage). Best protection is always a fit tested headband respirator (<1% leakage).

We get a lot of inquiries about why we didn’t include a closed cell foam (was in the original design). This is because we found foam actually decreased the overall number of faces that would pass fit testing (from >90% to ~80%).
With over 2,214 fires this year, Canada could see its worst wildfire season on record.
It is highly recommended to wear an N95 mask that tightly seals around the face with no small holes or gaps when stepping outside.

Our CAN99 is certified to FFP3, 99PFE-L3 (Canadian equivalent of N99), NIOSH N95. Typically N95 is whats required under many occupational health and safety laws, so our NIOSH certification selection was N95. This is not because of failing a higher filtration rate. Hope this helps

Most regulation/legislation only requires N95 standard and purchasing is done at that level. The spec FAR exceeds this and was designed to offer the best protection in the world for a single-use. So far the data supports this goal was achieved.
Currently, less than 17% of land and 8% of the world’s ocean are protected. World Leaders aim to protect at least 30% of our land and oceans by 2030. Let’s work together to achieve that goal by making environment-conscious choices this World Oceans Day 🌎
