The facilities manager at the Islamic school that I graduated from took the Shahadah today after being inspired by Imam @omarsuleiman504 and the character of the students and teachers. Such a proud moment!! He’s giving the shahada on the intercom so that all the kids can hear.

A special feature of the Maliki Madhab is that it is not really the madhab founded by Imam Malik. The Maliki madhab was the madhab of the 7 fuqaha of Madinah- the grandchildren of the sahabah. Imam Malik came later and became the de facto “spokesperson” due to his mastery.

If you think of the 4 madhabs along the following lines: Hanafis- most legalistic Malikis- most simple Shafiis- usuli Hanbalis- Hadith over everything These may have been the temperaments of the imams but do not accurately describe the madhab itself.

When one does shirk, they exit islam. So if someone accuses one of shirk, they are making takfir of an individual. If an individual says that a practice done by the majority of the ummah (istaghatha) is shirk, they are making takfir of the majority of the ummah.

All of the great imams in our ummah followed a madhab. And the ones that didn’t follow one were capable of opening their own madhab. So you got 2 options. 1) follow one of the 4 madhabs. 2) spend the next 50 years in seeking knowledge until you acquire the rank of mujtahid.

So much of the western academic energy in Islamic studies goes towards the Hadith sciences. The only explanation for that is that they try to weaken the reliability of the source material of Islam in order to cast doubt into its authenticity.

When you read the rules for financial dealings in fiqh, you see that the shariah often requires “awkward” conversations between parties- such as requiring a set due date for debts to be paid- even with family. But by doing so, you ensure that far worse consequences don’t happen

Imam Malik, born in Madinah, mastered the madhab of Madinah by studying under hundreds, if not thousands of tabieen and tabi’ tabieen. Eventually his mastery reached a level where he surpassed his peers to become the undisputed authority on the madhab of Madinah.

Funny enough, even this was not Malik’s idea. He learned this from the great Rabee’a who taught him that 1000 to 1000 (meaning a generation of scholars transmitting to the next generation) is more powerful than 1 to 1 (a solitary Hadith with a single narrator).

A “thing”: The scholars of Ahlul Sunnah say that a “thing” or شيء is only that which exists. When we refer to something that doesn’t exist such as a square circle as a “thing” it is only in a figure of speech (مجاز). (Source: Hashiyatul Bajuri on Sharh Al Aqaaid, Al-Taftazani)

Based on that deduction, he selected this particular fruit to be most accurately befitting that description, thus choosing it as his favorite. Look at the purity and precision of thought! If this was how he selected his desires, imagine how he was with his teachings and hadith!

@WaheedMukhlis83 He was a champion of defending ahlul sunnah wal jama’a. He had no control over his image after his death رحمه الله but his message is correct and on the truth.

Alhamdulillah, we have kicked off our second week of our part time Alim pre-pilot program at the Safina House. Our goal is to make ‘ilm and dawah to be completely linked- as both are two sides of the same coin.

Just sat as an audience member in a bombshell of a podcast with @DrShadeeElmasry and two guests. I don’t think I’m allowed to spill the beans on who the guests are, but this one is going to make a lot of people across the world upset. It was a 10/10, no exaggeration.

There should come a time in your journey as a student of knowledge a point where you stop judging mashayikh based on subjective factors like how they look, their vibe, etc. and start judging them by their views, their writing, and their actions.
