I received a letter from my family’s NHS dentist which I thought would be yet more admin related to my husband’s death on the 11th of July 2024 but it isn’t. It is a beautiful & heart felt letter of sympathy truly reflecting the man my husband was❤️
I have COVID. My husband had Chemo last week.I am hiding in the spare room unable to care for him, praying he doesn’t test positive & trying to understand the incomprehensible information about how to access antivirals. How would it hurt people to wear a mask & social distance?
I am caring for my husband at home in the late sages of terminal cancer. I would give anything to be having a tiff with him about how much food he has bought for Christmas as we did every year for over 30 years. I am lucky to have had all those wonderful arguments!
Hartlepool’s MP Jill Mortimer abstained from the universal credit vote. In her constituency more than 25% of children in are living in poverty & levels of income deprivation are more than 1 & 1/2 times the average. I think Jill is busy doing what is best for Jill 🤷🏽♂️
As Tony Benn said ‘ the way a government treats refugees is very instructive because it shows how they would treat the rest of us if they thought they could get away with it.
We all know that the Brexit policy is a massive fraud designed to save the Conservative Party from imploding. What I don’t understand is how we let it happen 🤷🏽♂️
Visa-free touring possible in 17 EU countries post-Brexit, says Dowden but pre-Brexit visa-free touring was possible in all 28 EU countries I reply 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
It is my birthday & I want to say something profound but I can’t think of anything. So I will simply say think about spending less of your life striving to buy stuff you don’t need & spend more time with the people you love ❤️
What is going on with our democracy? Over 15.5 million registered voters didn’t use their vote in 2019, that’s more potential votes than any of the major parties received. 58% of Hartlepool constituents didn’t vote in the recent by-election 🤷🏽♂️
@SimonClarkeMP
Simon Clark you abstained on the vote to cancel cuts to Universal Credit. In parts of your constituency 75% of children, many with parents in work, are living in poverty. How can you claim to be working in the interests of your constituents?
@Azeem_Majeed
My husband saw a Nurse Practitioner in Nov 2020 & was diagnosed with constipation, he saw a Nurse Practitioner in March 2021, & was diagnosed as pre diabetic, in Sept 2021 he saw a GP & was sent for scans & diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer, he wont make it to 2025.
58% of constituents did not vote in the Hartlepool 2021 by-election. Just over 20% of constituents voted for the Conservative Candidate. Rather than focusing on the 20% shouldn’t we be asking why the 58% feel so disenfranchised that they think there is no point in voting 🤷🏽♂️
Insulin was invented ~100 years ago, and its patent sold for $1.
“Do you know the reason why [insulin is] $1,000 with insurance?” ~
@AOC
There is no reason for insulin to cost $21 in Canada for a 10 ml bottle, while it costs a mortgage payment in the US.
@ThatTimWalker
It seems Max Hastings is in complete agreement with you. I don’t know Johnson personally but I can assure you I have nothing but contempt for him.
@John_Dabell
My husband’s prostate cancer is now in his bones (among other places) & I find his ability to endure the pain & continue to enjoy every good moment in life truly inspiring. I hope you like my husband enjoy your life despite what cancer is doing to your body.
In the light of Boris Johnson backing Dominic Cummings do you think corruption is preventing the UK government from organising an effective response to the COVID19 pandemic?
@RedJohnBounds
It is called the NHS test and trace system because our government is trying to hide the fact that test and trace is yet another extremely lucrative contract given to their mates at SERCO that have failed to deliver on so many current and previous lucrative government contracts.
@AndyGJBurge
My husband couldn’t get an appointment with his GP, after months of trying he saw a nurse (no GP available), she did bloods for diabetes. Over a month later he had a telephone appointment with a GP, who saw him the same day. He has terminal cancer !
@KateWilton1
@djohnson188dj
Kate there are millions of older people that didn’t vote for Brexit. Why not stop driving tribalism and talk about something relevant ?
@crimlawuk
Originally proposed by Winston Churchill and drafted mainly by British lawyers, the Convention was based on the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It was signed in Rome in 1950 and came into force in 1953.

Academic analysis of the treatment of Corbyn by the media shows that he was thoroughly delegitimised as a political actor from the moment he became a prominent candidate and even more so after he was elected as party leader, with a strong mandate.
If I had to describe the current UK Conservative Government in one word it would be repugnant. Which single word would you use to describe our current Conservative Government?
Today husband made me a cup of coffee. He is in the late stages of terminal cancer & was almost totally bedridden at Christmas. He might not be able to stand up tomorrow but he has taught to enjoy every good moment & it was the best cup of coffee I have ever tasted.
Hartlepool has been Labour since the constituency was created in 1974 until now. The previous Hartlepool constituency was also mostly Labour from 1945. Hartlepool hadn’t returned a Tory since 1959 but many in Hartlepool feel their loyalty to Labour didn’t get them very far 🤷🏽♂️
@DrAsifQasim
The deskilling of healthcare roles kills patients. In 2021 my husband tried for weeks to see his GP in the end he agreed to see the prescribing nurse. She told him he was constipated 6 months later he was diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer. I will loose him before 2025 😢
Hartlepool’s new MP is making a bid to pay the bribe promised to Hartlepool constituents in the by-election but what does this say about democracy 🤷🏽♂️
@BradBeauregardJ
@garygilligan
Cordal's sculpture is actually called “electoral campaign” & it's part of a street art installation called “Follow the leaders.” The tiny cement figures, arranged in bleak scenes of urban disintegration, represent the faceless businessmen who run our capitalist global order.
In the FPTP electoral system the only way to get the Tory party out of government is to vote for the candidate most likely to beat the Tory candidate in the constituency you live. Voting otherwise is merely supporting the Tory Party🤷🏽♂️

The pain of that failure on a personal level is so very hard. I have Covid. my husband has terminal cancer. I am wearing a 😷 & literally holding my breath while I deal with his nursing care.

When I was a child we had a large garden. It had the magic swing 👇the impenetrable wood (a small rose garden), fairyland (a small rockery with alpine plants), the oldest tree in the world (a gnarled old Hawthorn Tree) & the garden of Eden (dad’s veg patch) among other things
@Spanglish51
She does come across as a rather ‘super duper’ self satisfied type and anyone who claims that the chronic under supply in housing can be solved by smoothing conveyancing needs their head examining.
The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom is a compulsive liar that is damaging our country beyond repair. Does anyone have the power and the integrity to stop him?
@Azeem_Majeed
Nurse practitioners are very knowledgeable healers but they don’t have the same diagnostic ability as a GP that has spent 10 years studying medical science. A patient should see a GP first & then be passed on to a nurse practitioner for ongoing treatment.
Remember tomorrow is imprisonment day for many vulnerable people. Please ignore our self serving PM & wear a mask & keep your distance from others if you can.
Prof Steven Riley from the Spi-M modelling group, said the rollout of vaccination did not mean coronavirus controls can be dropped & we could face another wave as big as the current one if lockdown restrictions are all lifted. Do you think the UK Govt. will follow the Science ?
In the light of Johnson’s warning of a further surge in COVID-19 this winter while telling people it is fine to hug & opening pubs indoors I couldn’t resist retweeting this👇
@drjanaway
The treatment of doctors is designed to deskill clinicians in the NHS ready for privatisation. Less qualified staff is one reason why hospital privatisation is linked with worse quality care for patients – new research via
@ConversationUK
@ThatTimWalker
Johnson is one of the malign politicians that expertly exacerbated the divisions in our society for their own ends to the detriment of the UK’s economic, political & social stability. Isn’t it time we stopped dancing to their tune ?
@JanjuaAdam
My husband has stage four terminal cancer which is now in his spine. He has been discharged from the community palliative pain team because his pain is currently well managed. The GP tried to overturn this as my husband needs specialist pain management but failed 🤷🏽♂️

White surfaces reflect UV radiation, which degrades many materials over time, so wind turbines are white because it extends their lifespan.
Starmer is offering us the same kind of centre left Labour government as they have in New Zealand. Regardless of your usual political affiliation this has to be a better option than the most dishonest PM and the most rampantly right wing government I have known in my lifetime.
@PennyGarnett1
I strongly condemn the fact that Children in Need is required in a country as rich as ours but I don’t condemn people for trying to do something about the needs of children that are not met.
@RichardAScott
The UK EU referendum was conceived to heal a catastrophic rift in the Conservative party it did so while creating a catastrophic rift in the social economic and political stability of the UK. The Conservatives party alone is to blame for the entire catastrophe.
I feel extremely apprehensive about going into the office this week and working in an environment with thousands of students from all over the world. Do you think I am being too circumspect?
@MartinRemains
New Zealand COVID-19 deaths = 25 UK COVID-19 deaths = > 80,000. It is extremely obvious which countries’ government has the best response to the Pandemic🤷🏽♂️
Historical evidence from the 1918 flu shows that extending public health measures to prevent the spread of a virus does less economic damage in the long run than letting it ravage the entire population.
@cheryllynmartin
I strongly dislike tattoos and I would not consider having one. I don’t understand why people want to disfigure themselves and pay for the privilege of doing so. I suspect many others dislike tattoos too but it is not ‘cool’ to say so.
To counter the mainstream media’s biased coverage of Johnson & the Tories we need millions of positive messages on social about what a difference a Labour government could make to our lives. Why not give it a try & say something positive today ?
@tinypotager
@ZoeParamour
I am the one in the shorts. I used to tell my siblings stories about the adventures in the garden. The swing took us to magical worlds where anything is possible. I now tell similar stories to my grandchildren. Perhaps one day I will write them all down
@IanDunt
There are a lot of people trying to beat their addiction to alcohol. If you are one of these brave people I say a dry forever is the most sane thing you will ever do and good luck 🤞
@DanielJHannan
Our government is pretending that Covid-19 has disappeared despite the advice of the World Health Organisations. I find it unfathomable that people would refer to this action as giving us freedom🤷🏽♂️
@MattHancock
Matt Hancock are you going to reopen Hartlepool General Hospital’s A&E. After all a town with a population of 90,0000 needs one & your colleagues did promise they would find some money for Hartlepool.
@timolarch
In England we don’t have a functioning track & trace system. We paid for 100 of them but we didn’t get one. The Govt. gave the money to their friends & they didn’t know how to set one up, then they gave their friends more money & so on. It could have happened to anyone really🤷♀️
@markpalexander
@dlhmarketing
£12 billion to run a test and trace system using Microsoft excel is very easy money if you can get it. To do so a member of your family has to belong to the Eton old boys club.
