Throwback to 2021 when all the public GP abuse began following a sustained campaign by the Government and (to some extent NHSE) to vilify GPs for the problems the NHS was facing. Was working for the CCG back then but never afraid to stand up for General Practice!

Here’s another classic! Patient seen face to face in orthopaedic clinic but this is the message to the GP! Is a consultant incapable of prescribing analgesia for a patient referred for knee pain? GPs have become the house officers for hospitals it would seem.
We need a national debate on what General Practice can provide, because we can’t go on demanding that GP delivers more and more and more for less and less and less going forward. What are we prepared to pay for as a nation? and then have General Practice deliver accordingly.

This is quite shocking to read tbh. No one wants to be a partner because NHSE has decimated practice funding over the past 10 years and made it so unappealing. Also young GPs want a job - any GP job - so I’m unsure what Amanda is referring to when she says younger GPs don’t want

Accessing GP appointments is a priority for the public.
And thanks to the brilliant work of our GPs, practice nurses, physios, pharmacists and others we’re making progress.

ARRS £is diverting much needed funding from core GP services. NHSE &the government prefer to use this for allied staff rather than employing much needed GPs. This way they can say that they have paid for x number more staff in primary care. It’s a smoke and mirrors numbers game.

I 💯% agree with this. But that then begs the question of why GPs are so undervalued by those in power? Why is GP chronically underfunded? Do the government not want you to have the best care possible? Finally why are we only being offered a 1.9% funding uplift?
Seeing the same GP reduces your risk of an emergency admission to hospital or of needing to use the out of hours service by 30% and astonishingly reduces the risk of dying in the following 12 months by 25%
