Albania went through all this effort to welcome David Cameron only for him to cut short his trip so he could return home in time for Rishi Sunak to not call an election

With 26 parties running in this election, this is what the Dutch ballot paper looks like.
It’s huge and it was hard to fold this biggy in again.
And in the Netherlands we vote with a RED pencil. We colour the box next to ONE candidate of the party we want to vote for.

The election of another Keir to Parliament reflects a worrying trend. At this rate of growth there'll be a majority of Keirs in the House of Commons by 2081.
It took just 4 days after the Public Order Act got Royal Assent for us to get this stark example of how it can be used:
1. Anti-monarchy protesters unload placards from van
2. Police search van, find things that 'could be used to lock on' (maybe superglue, zipties etc?) 🧵 1/3
They searched the vehicle and, as well as a large number of placards, found items which at the time they had reasonable grounds to believe could be used as lock on devices.

It's easy for things to get lost in the noise on days like today but the deputy chair of the ruling party saying the govt should "ignore" the Supreme Court and do something anyway should really be quite a big political scandal
Lee Anderson says ministers should go ahead and “put planes in the air” to Rwanda anyway.
When I asked if he was suggesting ignoring the Supreme Court ruling, the Tory deputy chairman said govt should “ignore the laws and send them straight back”.

Reminds me of what happened recently in Barbados after the Barbados Labour Party won *every seat*. One MP made the clever career move of quitting the party and becoming Leader of the Opposition by default.
So many Labour MPs that 50 of them could split off as a nominally separate bloc and become the official opposition, then vote with the Labour whip and use PMQs to tell Keir Starmer he’s right about stuff.

Wow the Prigozhin news is wild, I can't imagine that they'll be able to ID the bodies from the crash. Anyway I just met my new neighbour Eugene (pictured) - says he works in catering. Seems nice!
Definitely the most 'exciting' electoral map of my lifetime:
- Lib Dem record high, Tory record low
- Sinn Fein largest party in NI for 1st time
- Record 4 for Greens
- Reform enters Commons for 1st time
- Several independents unseat incumbents
- SNP collapse to single digits
I'm going to sleep but based on results so far it really seems like Labour and maybe Lib Dems will do better than the exit poll, while Tories and Reform will do worse

4. Individuals held for 16 hours at police station while coronation occurs
Taking into account the information they had, and the overall concern regarding security, 6 people were arrested on suspicion of going equipped for locking on, contrary to Section 2 Public Order Act 2023.
1 male was also arrested for possession of a knife/pointed article.

5. Arrestees say items were for the placards
6. Police unable to prove intent to use items for locking on
7. No further action to be taken
8. Police express "regret"
We have now fully examined the items seized and reviewed the full circumstances of the arrest.
Those arrested stated the items would be used to secure their placards, and the investigation has been unable to prove intent to use them to lock on and disrupt the event.

Funny that Starmer shared a Times article to announce this policy. The same Times that won't let you cancel your subscription online and forces you to phone up some poor soul who'll spend 15 minutes trying to offer cheaper deals to stop you cancelling
Labour will change the law to stop companies trapping customers in subscriptions they no longer want.
My government would take further action to cut the cost of living, freezing council tax this year and lowering energy bills for good.

- Ciotti locked them out of party HQ
- They met elsewhere and expelled him from party

Today a woman in the UK was sentenced to 28 months in prison for inducing an abortion under the Offences against the Person Act 1861.
Abortion should be available on demand and without apology. The UK needs to drastically overhaul its abortion laws ASAP.

- sporadic tweeting
- questionable political predictions
- occasional speculation
- attempts at humour
- random tweets on world politics, history etc
