We were invited yesterday by
@10DowningStreet
for a briefing with the Prime Minister on their anti-fraud strategy.
A first for YouTubers - and an amazing experience to be part of.
Full vid on
@TLDRNewsUK
soon.
In the Daily Briefing today, I wore a pride shirt. These were some of the comments.
Frankly, if this is what you think then I have no issue at all with you unfollowing the Daily Briefing or any other TLDR News channel. And I'm sure
@tldrjack
agrees.
I have to say
@CosmicSkeptic
, the composure you showed when you were being berated by
@ClarkeMicah
is unbelievable
He was told you wanted to discuss two topics. He agreed.
He then said just 'one minute' on the first topic would have been too much.
It's so important that we all remember that, today, 137 Ukrainians were killed. That men are being conscripted to fight the invading force. That innocent civilians are at risk and families are trying to flee.
My heart goes out to everyone in

Hey,
@Ryanair
- you're absolutely useless. I mean it, you truly truly are.
We were meant to land in Maderia airport yesterday at 11 ish pm. We couldn't due to the wind. Okay fair enough not your fault.
Why on earth has this come up on my feed with a huge yellow "BREAKING NEWS" banner?
The fact this is presented on this app in the same way as Ukraine invading Russia is mad.
Probably the most distinguished individual I will ever meet in my life.
A throughly charming chap. Also, gotta love the audacity of sunbathing in the No 10 garden on a work day (I was tempted to join)
It's mind-blowing how terrible this tweet is.
The *actual government* suggesting that courts shouldn't be able to place limits on their power.
Using *emergency legislation* to deport a handful of asylum seekers to a country ruled to be unsafe.
Reeks of desparation.
We are a reasonable country, but our patience has now run out.
Our Parliament is sovereign, and it should be able to make decisions that cannot be undone in our courts.
That’s what this emergency legislation delivers.
What an absurd comment. Parliament has an average age that is about 10 years higher than that of the UK. Younger people getting into politics should be seen as a good thing, not ridiculed. If these comments were the other way around, they'd be called out as agist.

I apologise to anyone who follows me for
@TLDRNewsUK
content and is now being shown inordinate amounts of BBC and
#Lineker
stuff.
All I can say is, I am SO invested in this story now.
Can't wait for the inevitable BBC climbdown.
For the love of christ - how many bad decisions can the MET police actually make?!
Protest is a vital part of a functioning 21st century democracy. The police has no right whatsoever to 'deal robustly' with peaceful protestors.
Our tolerance for any disruption, whether through protest or otherwise, will be low.
We will deal robustly with anyone intent on undermining this celebration.
🧵🔽
Why is 'arrested' capitalised?
Clearly, it's to imply outrage at the fact that a man who commited assault on camera is arrested.
Just because you're angry at protestors, it doesn't mean you can assault them.
Not very impartial of
@PolitlcsUK
here...
Happy New Year everyone!
I hope you've had a wonderful 2023, and that the news hasn't gotten to you too much.
2024 will be even bigger and better! Onwards and upwards!
🚨🚨PAGING UK ELECTION TWITTER 🚨🚨
You wake up from a coma on 2 May 2024 at 10pm, and see this exit poll. What's happened in between? How do you explain the results?
I think, fundamentally, this is one of the things I like most about British politics.
The fact our leaders have some level of mutual respect and understanding irrespective of the heated nature of day-to-day political debate can only be a good thing.
@METALFACE_Jib
The right to love who you want to love, the right to show that publicly, to not face discrimination based on sexuality. Which people still do in this country and abroad.
The shirt I was wearing was trying to draw attention to that. I see no issue with that at all.
I'm not entirely sure what he was expecting by being there. If he finds the topic 'boring' he should have made it clear beforehand - that's on him, not you.
Absolutely unbelievable.
Interviewing a tyrant on home soil is not a victory for free speech - far from it.
Did Carlson feel comfortable and able to ask about Prigozhin's death, about poisonings such as Litvinenko, about what's happened to Navalny, war crimes in Ukraine etc?
Ever considered that it might be because young people tend to be compassionate in the trans debate and tend not to support legislation that breaks international law on asylum seekers?
Perhaps compassion and international law actually are 'sexy' and the inverse isn't?
We need a centre-right version of
@PoliticsJOE_UK
, no offence but no youth oriented right-wing media outlet is cool enough or accessible enough to make conservative political ideas attractive to the young. Bleating about trans rights & asylum seekers isn’t sexy
Is it just me that worries that this could be the start of some kind of Fantasy Cabinet type of politics?
What next - Liz Truss in the Treasury? Tony Blair as Defence Secretary?
Anything's possible.
As the Lead Writer of the UK channel of an online news group (

Remind me to never go on holiday again.
Number of

Sam Thompson: 1
Nigel Farage: 0

Pretty sure Sam is more electorally successful than Nigel...
We just shouldn’t have an NHS.
Why should we pay for eachother’s healthcare, when lifestyle is such a huge factor?
I know that if I smoke, my healthcare may cost more. That’s my choice, no one else should have to be burdened by my lifestyle choices.
I've heard that if TLDR UK reaches 1,000,000 subs before election day
@tldrben
will host the election results video dressed as Kier Starmer
And I mean like full prosthetics, hair dye, the works
Right, can people please retweet this so it gets to some right wing people:
Legit question - what is this mass hysteria on GB News regarding 15min cities actually about?
🚨Only 4 points separating Reform and the Tories!
Going on Twitter, every day I think 'this can't get any worse for Sunak'. Every day I'm wrong.
Video on this coming out on

tomorrow!
So, just to be clear - I need to prove that I have a job to rent a flat, but estate agents are only open during working hours for me to view them?
Presumably everyone viewing flats is in the same situation?
The government cares so much about the North that they're using Network North funds to improve roads *checks notes* in... London?!
You'd think with the election looming the govenment would be a little better with their comms strategy...
We're announcing how London's boroughs will benefit from £235m of HS2 savings - part of the biggest-ever funding uplift for local road improvements.
Labour don't have a plan to improve our roads,
@Conservatives
do - and we're delivering 👇

I won't be presenting the Daily Briefing this week (which is a shame as it's the last week of the year).
If I see any comments about how much you guys prefer
@tldrjack
presenting than me, then I will be resigning from TLDR News in protest...
This is UNPRECEDENTED. Huge huge lead for Labour here.
What's even more crazy is that if this polling is translated into seats, Labour are predicted a 478 seat *majority*.
HUGE caveats apply - fieldwork possibly the worst time for Labour, it's only one poll etc etc but still..
Our partnership with Rwanda may be a tough and innovative approach, but it will work.
As a former Home Secretary, I am convinced that it is the only way to ensure that people know that if they come here illegally, they will not be able to stay.
I saw Oppenheimer again at the weekend. Yet again, people were sat in front of my on their phones. How the hell have we got to the point that people can't stay off their bloody phones for the duration of the film?!
It just takes you so out of the film.
Theresa May didn't turn on the Downing Street Christmas tree lights until December 6. Because she understood as a vicar's daughter that any earlier would result in a one-way ticket to hell
I'm currently writing a video explaining the new National Security Bill. I go to get the pdf of the Bill, and I shit you not, this was the bill's code:
Just starting to write a script on

It blows my mind to see how ridiculously inefficient, poorly planned, and unneccessarily expensive the project is.
A perfect example of how not to run a major construction project.
So many Labour MPs that 50 of them could split off as a nominally separate bloc and become the official opposition, then vote with the Labour whip and use PMQs to tell Keir Starmer he’s right about stuff.
CAN YOU PLEASE ACTUALLY COMMUNICATE WITH US
@Ryanair
. It's been hearsay and rumours and frankly it's dangerous and shocking behaviour from a company your size.
The wind isn't your fault. Your shocking treatment of your customers absolutely is.m
Since when did government ministers start doing explainer content?
Is this a work exchange thing - does this mean people who do explainer videos will soon get to try their hand at doing some governing?
If so, my DMs are open.
We got redirected to Porto and landed at 1am. What is your fault is having one bloke meet us and tell us to wait till 4am for more info. And then text us about a flight at 7am WITHOUT ANY INFO about boarding passes, how to get in, where to go etc
I'm starting to think there's nothing my generation can do to please
@Telegraph
.
We're both lazy and workshy and that's why the economy is bad and we're also sensible and drink less and that's why pubs are failing.
Make your minds up.
Nothing happened at 4am so we stayed up for nothing. I should note that NO HOTEL was provided.
The flight at 7am also doesn't land, so we land on the adjacent island of Porta Santo. We are held on the plane till 1pm ish. No water given out. No food. No communication

Where the hell is
@JohnnyMercerUK
complaining that Charlotte Owen's appointment to the House of Lords threatens to make the House of Lords become a repeat of The Inbetweeners?
Ah yes, it's different because she's a Tory.
Okay so, I've lived in my flat since July. I have often wished we had an extractor fan in the kitchen.
For the first time ever I noticed this cord here. I have NEVER noticed it before.
I pulled it. It works.
I genuinely think I've just been pranked or something.
You literally accepted money from Matt Hancock to help him write his book - a book which tried to exonerate him in the mind of the public.
If you feel this strongly against the lockdown, why did you partner with (and accept money from) one of its key architects?
It's now 5pm on day 2. 11 hours sat on the Ryanair plane. More than 18 hours after we were meant to land. No compensation. Not even a bottle of water.
So we're very excited for the ordeal to be over.
Then we get a text.
