A fan's fight to save the Oakland A's.

We've released a video to the MLB owners that encompasses the heart and movement of Summer of Sell. Please share far and wide as we want this to get as much exposure as possible before the MLB owners vote next week.
MLB continues to embarass itself by backing a move no one seems to want. Give Vegas an expansion for putting them through this nonsense and keep the A’s in Oakland!
NEWS: Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman told FOS that she believes the Oakland A’s plans for the Tropicana site don’t make sense—and that the team should stay in Oakland.

Hey
@MLB
, on Dec 1st the A's cited the deaths of 2 CHP officers for why they didn't release stadium renderings. Now, they admit hiring design team on Dec 4th, indicating they had no renderings. Exploiting such a tragic incident as an excuse raises ethical questions, right?
The A's had originally announced they would reveal renderings on Dec 4th, 2023 (they cancelled the meeting on the 1st, according to
@davekaval
, because 2 state troopers died). So when did they hire an architect? Aug 4th? May 4th? Nope:
We’ve been in touch with the mayors office and although we can’t reveal details, there has been continued work on stadium only plans and talks with potential investors/ buyers. As the mayor said in the article “until the shovel hits the ground, we’re going to continue to fight.
Keep fighting Oakland. As the A’s continue to botch this relocation, your voices are being heard. The narrative continues to shift and hopefully one day will be rewarded by something similar to what’s happening in Baltimore. Here’s to a loud, protest filled year ahead.
Some people think we're wasting our time. That's okay. We'll always go hard for our community, even if detractors and contrarians think we're foolish. You'll never stop us.
The charade of the A’s and MLB relocation effort goes on.
“Having a framework of an agreement in place was enough to satisfy the league and union”
PS - they had a f#^$& framework in Oakland if that’s all it took.
We want to thank every Oakland A’s fan. What you have pulled off this year has been incredible. Thank you for five amazing days of filming your stories and capturing what it means to be an A’s fan. Your passion and dedication is unmatched. You are a part of history.
Jan 15th is coming up fast. Will Fisher cobble together any semblance of a plan by then. If not what an embarrassment for
@MLB
and
@RobManfred
. Although they will probably “corruptly” let it pass. Oh no, I hope
@hammond4nevada
doesn’t come after me now.
In our talks with the mayors office last week it was made clear to us that the mayor was in fact reaching out to Fisher. It was also made clear to us that this did not mean giving Fisher what he wants and getting nothing in return. It will have to be good for Oakland. SellTheTeam
It’s already tough enough that the fans have to put together and fund their own Fans Fest to celebrate Oakland sports, but for the A’s to be contacting sponsors to pull their sponsorships is a new low. Great job A’s, finding creative ways to look the absolute worst.
#SELL
We have some unfortunate news and are disappointed to announce Drake's Brewery has pulled their sponsorship, only three days before Fans Fest. LDB/68’s have incurred expenses purchasing sponsor banners, a digital marketing package and had rented equipment to set up a Drakes beer
This article thoroughly breaks down the shady motives on both the A’s and Vivek’s side of the move to Sac and sheds light on what Oakland officials have been up against. As LDB and 68’s gave been saying, it’s time to take this fight to Sacramento.
Another national news article in two days that points out how poorly this whole thing has been conceived and executed and even what the motives are behind the move.

Tomorrow we are planning on filming a Sell the Team march starting at the Bart station @ 12:05 with the Oakland 68's. We will march to the stadium and enter. Once we are inside , we will all do a protest lap around the stadium before the game starts. We look forward to filming

@AroundtheHorn
I had LOTS of thoughts about John Fisher who has turned the A’s into a team that has no real roster, no home, no way to watch them and two cities that don’t want them. The worst owner to ever own anything.
Great job showing up Oakland A's fans. We are so excited to tell your story. No matter what happens you have shown that Oakland Never Quits and we will stand with you every step of the way. Tonight we have more to share and will do it over Twitter Spaces with guests Gabriel
We want to thank
@LastDiveBar
and
@Oakland68s
who put on the best fan’s created fans fest of all time. They put everything on the line, including their own money, and spent almost the entire fest working their asses off. It was incredible to see their dedication
Funny how Oakland fans don’t shit on Vegas or its fans but Vegas fans can’t seem to make any points outside of insults. Personally I think Vegas should get an expansion team and most A’s fans I know agree. We just want to keep our team. Do better Vegas.
Lmfaooo…do people think they can trigger us? LDB was literally created from a WTF meme.
If you wanna try us that’s fine, but use a real email so we could have sent you a reply.

Hey Vegas, here’s the level of cheapness of John Fisher. You really want this guy owning your first MLB team. The fans are now having to fund the giveaways, just like they’re doing putting on their own fan fest. Fisher= Worst owner in sports
Are we surprised???
Don’t worry…us at LDB and the
@Oakland68s
got you covered this year.
No giveaways by the A’s in 2024…man they hate baseball, the fans and the kids. Shame on
@MLB
for allowing Fisher/Kaval to ruin the game so many love.

@DaveKaval
love to talk about how moving will create all these jobs for people in Vegas. But it comes at the expense of abandoning generations of workers in Oakland. Shame on the A’s ownership and shame on MLB.
Warriors playing at Kings for playoff game tomorrow night, Tue at 7, and we’d like to get some A’s fan out for it. We have SELL shirts and flags to give out before the game but need a crew of people to help. Let me know if anyone is available and interested.
Now, this isn’t a done deal, and there may be parties, like AASEG, who are not aware of the full interconnectedness of all these parts, but the time to start asking questions is now, especially with the elections for Miley’s seat coming up on Tuesday.
@Ken_Rosenthal
I appreciate you calling out the absurdity, but the narrative that Oakland isn’t “viable” needs to be questioned. If Fisher wanted a stadium only deal in Oakland, like he is doing in Vegas, the stadium would’ve already been built. Correct the narrative!

The Summer of Sell Documentary team is hard at work creating a video showcasing why keeping baseball in Oakland is a win-win for everyone. Here's some reasons why:
I get that the legality to prove payoffs is near impossible, but you’d think they’d try to hide it a little more than this. MLB, your name should be dragged through the mud for years to come for all this.
With the end of the A’s baseball season here we want to say thank you to so many people. First and foremost the fans. You participated and made Oakland’s voice heard in one of the most historic events in baseball history. You all deserve a place in the baseball hall of fame, and
This is exactly why fans need to rally together and create actual fan groups, like the Oakland 68’s. Outreach to those other teams’ fans will start this year and hopefully we can unionize fans to stop this terrible trend that could destroy the game.
Ken Kendrick on the possibility of the Diamondbacks leaving Arizona:
"There are opportunities available ... It's not where we are spending time or energy. We may run out of time in Phoenix. We hope that won't happen."
Although the season is over for the A’s, it’s important that the Summer of Sell fight continues. A’s fans, don’t stop. Now more than ever the movement needs your voices at playoff games and beyond, wearing sell shirts, funding relocation opposition groups and reaching out to MLB
Next up for the documentary is shooting this Saturday at the A’s Angels game in Anaheim. We’re looking forward to documenting how this movement has spread to every ballpark in baseball.

I grew up with always cared about the fans and always were proud members of the SF community. Larry Baer gets a lot of credit for that. But ever since Greedy Greg Johnson took over, he has gone above and beyond to sterilize what makes being a Giants fan special.
LDB and 68’s have an awesome Summer of Boycott planned for the year ahead. This is the tentative schedule for now but will be updated with more events as the year goes on. Come enjoy Oakland sports with some of the best fans on the planet.
Finally this is what all of your dedication is leading to. We are proving that Oakland is a major league city, with a fan base second to none, that should have all the respect in the world. And because we aren’t getting it, we will be out full force in protest all season long.
Oakland will never give up, no matter how you portray us, Oakland will never give up, no matter what you force upon us, Oakland will never give up, no matter what you take from us, we will persevere and bring our protests to you and your teams no matter what the pain.

We are currently putting together a video to all MLB owners to show them what the league will be losing if they move the team to Vegas, both emotionally and financially. We would love to see pictures of your family or FANILY at games, and not just this year, any year, in fact the
To some baseball is just a game but to many residents of Oakland, the team is so much more than that. It’s a place they met their closest friends, their spouses and it has brought the community together for 55 years. The fans have done their part. Now it’s up to our
In looking into it we have found that the supervisor that seems to be behind most of the stalls is Nate Miley, who is up for election on Tuesday. But why would he do that? Well it seems that Miley has been trying to sell the land to a “friend”, but who was the mystery “friend”?
“The team needs to rebrand itself, or remain the Oakland A’s.” Why is Fisher so set on keeping the A’s name? It seems like adopting a new name would appease more fans in Vegas. Does he actually think that many A’s fans will follow him to Vegas?
Proud of all the people in Oakland who won’t quit on keeping sports alive in the East Bay. This will give the fans a chance to show their passion without giving Fisher a dime. The fight will continue on this year against the A’s ownership and this is just one more space for the
Exclusive: The mayor’s office and MLB have had early talks about a possible Oakland expansion team guarantee in return for the city granting the A’s a Coliseum lease extension.
It’s one thing that this is once again totally unrealistic and pretty awful looking, but the fact that you also botched the release is making my day. What do they pay you for that my 3 year old daughter can’t do better?
Miley has always been a big proponent of John Fisher. Fisher was a major donor in his campaigns and Miley inked the deal with Fisher to buy half of the coliseum land, that everyone knows was very favorable to John Fisher and no one else. But is Fisher the “friend” of Miley?

With the owners due to vote in one month there’s an urgent need for the city council to prove that Oakland politicians do want the A’s to stay by voting to formalize the Howard Terminal offer in order to prove him wrong. There is talk that the relocation move could get voted down
Great article about this entire debacle. Honest reporting about what’s really happening with the A’s relocation mess.
@tmsaran
very well articulated and represented what’s happening to our fan base. See you all in the parking lot!
Summer of sell will be shooting up in Oakland from Sep20th to the 24th. This doc will be chronicling the movement from the fans POV's. Let us know if you would like to share your story and when you'll be around.
Please come and support the A's staying in Oakland. With the owners meetings coming up next week it's going to be important to show how serious the city and fan base is in keeping our beloved team.
Supporting the unions that are fighting this bailout, is not just for the future of Nevada and the A’s, but it will also help prevent this bullying by billionaires to get public handouts that they don’t need.
NEWS: A Nevada teachers union, through a political action committee, has sued the state and Gov. Joe Lombardo to block the bill that gives the A's $380 million in stadium funding.
Well said
@DavidPSamson
it’s time for this charade to end and for
@MLB
to pressure Fisher to work with Oakland or sell to someone who will. The mayor got a unanimous city council vote in Nov for a resolution to keep the team in Oakland. The A’s need to come back to the table.
When the Vegas mayor craps on your ballpark deal during Super Bowl week, MLB and the A’s know they have a problem.
@FOS
got the interview. NPDS has the reaction.
Another great article breaking down the absurdity of this move. Fisher’s best business decision was buying a major league team, which plays in to his insistence in keeping it. Unfortunately for Oakland, he’s been terrible at running it and even worse at trying to relocate it.
This is a message for all Giants fans. Although we have a rivalry on the field I am reaching out for a larger purpose. As all of you know, our team is looking to leave Oakland for Las Vegas and this year could quite possibly be our last in Oakland…🧵
So many amazing videos of tonight’s match. Always blown away by the Oakland fans that came out and showed their passion as they always do.

The Summer of Sell documentary crew will be out for Fan Fest this Saturday. We will be chatting with Casey Pratt on the indoor stage from 12:15 to 12:30 as well as filming throughout the day with our crew. Please come and introduce yourselves. Can't wait to see you all there.
First of all we’d like to thank the thousands and thousands of fans that came out this last weekend to Fans Fest. It was so positive and showed off everything we love and hold dear to our hearts in Oakland. It was a true honor to be a part of it.
For the below "conspiracy" we posted about to come true, well we just had step 1 happen.
Step 1: The Town FC - "We're thrilled to announce that we've partnered with the
@SJEarthquakes
to bring
@MLSNEXTPRO
to the East Bay!"
@AASEGOakland
- No deal with Fisher for Quakes in Oak.
In our research for the doc we’ve come across something that feels pretty FISHY going on with the county board of supervisors. We looked into why the county keeps stalling The Roots progress both at the Coliseum and for the practice field they are looking to purchase. Read on…
Doris better get her kid in line fast or that legacy will forever be tarnished, if it hasn’t been already. The fans are looking to be louder, more organized and more media savvy this year. Which means it’s only gonna get worse for the Fisher brand.
The Fisher family has spent millions of dollars on leaving their family name on things as a legacy around the Bay Area, but the only legacy they will be remembered for is this incompetent bullshit.
This is what all fans should be fighting for. When a new stadium is built for a team, the owners are the ones who profit from the increased valuation. If public money goes to that stadium the public doesn’t get a part of that. It goes straight in the owners pockets. Pure greed.
Although 2023 was a tough year as an A’s fan, I am thankful to have met such an amazing group of people. The Oakland A’s fans are some of the most authentic, inspirational and passionate people I’ve ever met and we are excited to tell your story.
“This is a movie that we’re all living through”. You’re absolutely right and we’ve been documenting it from the beginning. Still a lot more twists and turns ahead and we’ll be there capturing it.
@scottbraun
Hope to see you at FanFest or Opening Day!
@DaveKaval
The fans have felt like this has been ownerships’ view for the past 20+ years. This is why we stopped coming, this is why we protest and this is why it won’t end no matter where the A’s end up. Your disrespect towards Oakland has started a fire that won’t be put out.
"Summer of Sell" isn't just a documentary; it's a celebration of the bonds formed by our shared love for the game. Help us keep this spirit alive. Give now to be a crucial part of this movement and help us tell this story!
Good for the Ballers. By taking a historic field and reinvigorating it, while still keeping it open to the public the Ballers are showing their care and desire to be a part of this community and part of building it up to make Oakland great.
We're proud to announce that the Oakland Ballers will be playing our Spring '24 home games at Raimondi Park. We’re humbled to be partners with the community in activating this historic field.

Look forward to seeing you all out a FansFest. We’ll be the crew shoving cameras in everyone’s faces all day. Come introduce yourselves to Gabriel and Jared. Let go Oakland!!!
A new soccer team has come into the picture in the East Bay called The Town FC. This team is being run by a former owner of The Roots, Benno Nagel, who left on very bad terms with the team. It could be surmised that The Town FC is looking to overtake The Roots foothold on Oakland
This is going to be epic. Everyone’s best chance at being heard by good old Fisher himself.
@Jorgeleon17
Might need something bigger than a bus to get these fans from Oakland down. Can you rent an entire train?
Will send out an official post in a bit but we’re gonna do a Twitter Spaces tonight at 8:30 to let A’s fans talk this out as a community. Be good to yourselves today and ignore the trolls. Sad that people can bask in other people’s losses.
Your voices at the tailgate will be incredible but this donation will be the most meaningful to keeping the A’s in Oakland. Please donate what you would have on tickets to Schools Over Stadiums. Summer of Sell Documentary will be donating our part.
We then remembered our conversation at the owners meeting with Fisher when he admitted to going to check out that practice field at the same time the Roots were checking it out. But why would John Fisher want a soccer practice field in Oakland when his soccer team is in San Jose
@EduOverStadiums
is picking up steam, thanks in part to A’s ownership. Will this effect the relocation vote of any owners? Will this make it on the ballot? Would love to hear your opinions.
And where would that leave Oakland and The Roots? The Roots would have to compete with a minor league soccer team, while having both their practice field and stadium plans pulled from under them. And Oakland sports would have John Fisher once again in charge of their destiny.
This is hilarious. So their big reveal is the original AI art, that has no relevancy to the project… yep that’s the A’s leadership. Imagine paying $125 for that. For FanFest we should have a “public” hearing for $125 a ticket where
@Timblonskee
will release more A’s renderings.
Tomorrow the brother of John Fisher, Bob, will be at a public event for SFMOMA. Would be a great opportunity to have the Fisher family see firsthand the SELL movement. We won’t be able to attend but if anyone does please take some pics and videos. We’d love to use in the doc
For those interested, Fisher’s brother Bob Fisher will be at a public meeting on Thursday. He is on the board for the SFMOMA. Since he is supposed to be helping finance the LV ballpark, I think some of us should go there and ask him some tough questions!
On behalf of The Oakland 68’s and us at The Last Dive bar we are honored and happy to announce Melissa Lockard of The Athletic will be joining us at the February 24th FansFest at Jack London Square. 🎤
Melissa will be an on stage contributor and be running a segment for fans in
Gates open at 5 on Thursday, but there will probably be quite a lineup of cars so it’s encouraged to take BART. Then let’s help each other setup as quickly as possible for one of the greatest tailgate parties ever!
Had a feeling the A’s would do this…
For the first time in forever the parking gates for opening day will open only 2hrs prior to first pitch.
Usually open 4hrs prior on opening day.
Oh and they increased parking due to “dual event”.
Doesn’t matter! We’re gonna be
It appears that the difference between what Oakland offered and what the A's wanted was about $35 million or so over three years.
Or about the same that the Angels are paying reliever Robert Stephenson.

The best way for you to make an impact on this is to pick up where you left off last year with the anti-trust legislation. Teams shouldn’t be allowed to just pick up and leave fan bases behind. Please reignite the drive to strike down baseballs antitrust laws
I hope this meeting signals a willingness to reignite conversations about keeping the A’s in Oakland long term. It’s become abundantly clear that the A’s are valued in the East Bay more than anywhere else.
Let’s keep them
