I’m haven’t told many people this, journalist and all, but in college I had season tickets with my wife in the left field bleachers. And one of my all-time favorite memories with her was when we went to a Mother’s Day game on a last-second whim. Thanks,

. They met for an hour.
Bryce Harper is the biggest name when it comes to Las Vegas and Baseball. He believes expansion would be better for Las Vegas and also thinks the A’s should have to rebrand in LV. lots of strong comments in this article.
These guys. The grounds crew. That’s who will have to pick up the trash if you throw it on the field. Please don’t. Respect the Coliseum and the workers tomorrow. It’s gonna be an emotional day for everyone. Be patient. Be kind. See you out there. Free hugs for all.
I’ve been going to the Oakland Coliseum since I was 1 (1983). I’ve been credentialed to cover the team since 2005. I’ve seen a lot of great things there. The Reverse Boycott night is one of the most amazing things I’ve ever witnessed. And the MLB Commissioner doesn’t get it.
One last thought before I turn off my phone:
Oakland raised nearly $1B / LV raised $380M
Oakland asked for $20m/yr and expansion assurances/Sacramento apparently asked for NO rent and got no expansion assurances.
Oakland Stadium Deal: 55 acres of Waterfront Property.
LV
Today I am going to send yet another request for comment to
@MLB
Commissioner Rob Manfred and I will CC: his entire PR staff. If he wants to explain to the people of Oakland why he is ripping a team away from this market, he shouldn’t have any qualms about it answering honestly.
Fisher answered 0 questions. Kaval dodged direct questions. They buried Oakland, rushed through Nevada Legislature and still got a deal. They offered no legit studies, a fake poll and some bunk AI renderings. What’s worse? People in LV don’t even want this deal. MLB y’all.
👀Oakland’s offer to the
#Athletics
for Coliseum lease extension ahead of Tuesday’s meeting.👀
✅ 5-year lease with opt out option at 3rd year.
✅ Approx $19.4M/yr.
✅ Sell Coliseum stake.
✅ Grant Oakland 1 exclusive year to line up owners for expansion.

coach Kyle Shanahan said WR Deebo Samuel (hamstring strain) will be out this week and most likely against Green Bay also and RB Jeff Wilson Jr. (ankle) will go to injured reserve later this week.
A demonstration by Oakland A’s Fans to Major League Baseball, MLB Commissioner Manfred, and the A’s organization that Oakland, Alameda County, East Bay Region does have the Facilities, Fans, and Support to keep the A’s and Professional Sports in Oakland.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

up to his pick. Nailed it.
I grew up going to the Oakland Coliseum. My kids have grown up going to the Oakland Coliseum. And it wrecks me to think of all the A’s fans out there who would no longer be able to carry on those family traditions. 💚 💛
Barry Bonds spent the day donating money and loading cars with Second Harvest. The Hall of Fame? He says he's not tracking that. "I'm not that important."

The Oakland

fan base is a sleeping giant waiting for someone to actually invest in it for once. When the Haas family owned the team they had the highest payroll in baseball, star players and no problems with attendance.
The Oakland City Council UNANIMOUSLY passed their resolution affirming that the A’s belong in Oakland. Shows Mayor, City Council, Port, and local labor all united and ready to play ball with MLB. Rarely get this many entities in lockstep like that. The fans packed the chambers.
Still sitting here thinking about how A’s fans actually got ‘SELL THE TEAM’ chants off at the freaking MLB All-Star Game. This fan base continues to blow my mind time and time again.
A’s fans created the first-ever fan-funded giveaway. They wanted to raise enough to make 5k shirts. They blew past their goal and added an extra 2k shirts to the total. They will be given out on 6/13 at the Oakland Coliseum. Pretty unreal.
MLB's move to Las Vegas is not about the love of baseball. It's about gambling money. That's why they haven't been able to provide any details to validate their actions. They don't want to tell you that part.
A’s owner John Fisher spoke with three protestors at the owners meetings in Texas and told them his patience had run out after 18 years of trying to find a solution to keep the team in Oakland
Interesting that
@MLB
is going full state-run media mode and trying to sweep the mess they created under the rug. It’s only going to bring more exposure now.
I was inside. Outside. In the dugout. In the clubhouse. In the Press Box. On the field before and after the game. Never once saw Dave Kaval or John Fisher.

Big news: longtime Bay Area media professional and East Bay native,
@CaseyAPratt
, is joining my team as the new Chief of Communications for the Mayor’s Office, effective immediately.
We are so excited to be welcoming Casey and his decades of experience into the Mayor's office!
The A’s pay $1.25M a year to play at the Coliseum. Their mortgage on a stadium in Vegas is going to be dramatically more expensive. Where’s the money for the roster improvements going to come from?
I heard the concerns about the ownership group and their unwillingness to spend in Oakland. I believe that will be different in Las Vegas. There will be additional accountability to the Stadium Authority Board and we will have the best community benefits agreement in the country.
If you grew up here, you know. There’s just something about the magical feeling you get looking out onto that playing surface. Words can’t express how much I’m going to miss this.
Hi. Rob. I dare you to respond to my inquiries and do an interview. I dare you to answer a single question from anyone in the Bay Area that actually knows that’s going on. You’ve got my number.
John Fisher should sell the team. He’d walk away with over $1B in profit and forgiveness. There are very wealthy groups in the Bay Area that would buy the A’s in a heartbeat. The stubbornness is messing with way too many people. See you all at the Coliseum tomorrow.
I’m going to post this every day until Thursday. Please don’t throw things on to the field during or after the last game. The grounds crew and workers getting laid off don’t deserve to pick it up. John Fisher and Dave Kaval won’t be out there picking up the trash.
Stephen Curry was looking for somewhere to get some shots up yesterday, so he stopped by

Hi

friends. I know today’s news is very hard to stomach. But don’t take it out on team employees. They don’t make these decisions. Be kind a respectful. I know it hurts. But it’s not their fault.
👀 Hearing MLB Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson is gearing up to take a big swing. This involves legislation, a lawsuit, and potentially more. Expecting it to drop as early as tomorrow.
Been going to the Oakland Coliseum since I was a baby. The love of the A’s passed down from my great grandpa to my parents to me and my kids. My heart hurts knowing this experience will no longer be shared with future generations.
The

asked Mayor Thao not to communicate directly with MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred during negotiations. Now that she has, it's pretty clear which source is upset about it. That's all I've got to say about that.
Source tells me Oakland Mayor Thao’s meeting with Rob Manfred last weekend is much to do about nothing. More or less too little, too late.

I have no idea how many people were there, but what people need to realize is this was JUST the outdoor stage. To the left and right were closed streets full of vendors and the inside stage at Bloc15 held a whole other venue full of people.
I’ve now heard from the Oakland Mayor and the A’s. Oakland pulling negotiations. A’s placing entire emphasis on Las Vegas. Saying they made a sincere effort in Oakland but unable to make it work. Pretty stunning to say the least.
Within other organizations, there is a lot of disgust with how the A’s have handled the ballpark situation — especially when there’s no actual ballpark plan settled in Las Vegas. And there is an assumption the A’s will tank in the next few years, because their revenue stream will
This isn’t the 70s anymore. Commissioners/Owners can’t just say things and expect zero public pushback. The fans have a voice these days. Everyone can see this stuff. Everyone can speak up. The explanations have to be better.
These people threw an unreal party in Oakland today. They aren't event organizers or planners. They all have real jobs and families. They did this for you. And crushed it. Thanks for giving everyone a reason to celebrate and spend time together,
