BTW, I went to visit my friend afterwards and she was like “You do realize you smell like 🤢 petrol/gas/exhaust fumes on your clothes” And that was from literally only walking 1.5 KM along Rideau/Wellington to Bank to Slater to Colonel By/Sussex for about 45 minutes.

@_MarkSutcliffe Mark and @NCC_CCN : please post your data on this. My anecdotal evidence suggests otherwise. Also emergency vehicles have access to this road if they need it...this is not a real impediment IMO. The QE MUP is a disaster when the road is closed for AT during peak usage times.

I get a landscape service to do a massive cleanup in late May each year and they didn't identify anything noxious.

@PHfloor This is what was there before. It's amazing now that 6 independent units exist in what was a single occupancy home. Interestingly enough, the CA was strictly opposed to the original design (big-box 3 storey semi) but the CA and BHSC endorsed the resulting redesign wholeheartedly!

On another note, there are other uniformed personnel (CAF, CBSA, etc.) that have guidelines on when/where they can wear their uniforms (and certainly carrying weapons off-duty)...so I imagine they aren't allowed to show up at their kid's schools in-uniform with weapons!

Many of them are leaders and role models in the community and also parents and volunteers at local schools. A parent who offers to visit her child's school to share her career experiences should not be turned away. I encourage the school board to reconsider their decision.

@CarymaRules I hope the fines helped offset the costs of this equipment/staff deployed to remove the paint. Unlikely…but there’s always hope. Seriously, this must’ve taken them a couple of hours to paint that…didn’t anyone think to step in and stop it after the 1st few brush strokes? 🤷🏻‍♂️

@ottawacity I totally understand the need to preserve the surface to allow for grooming operations, but the point about concerns with plowing/salting/grit on steel heritage structure/timber decking, please explain why this works on the Minto Bridges in New Edinburgh:

@DaveBikeSki Even the Minto Bridges with wooden planks/decking for pedestrians is winter maintained by…drum roll…the City of Ottawa (per exhibit A below). I would love to know what is so technically different between these three bridges that makes that one not plowable? It’s baffling 🤷‍♂️
