At yesterday’s council meeting, Cllr. Troster spoke about the twin crises of vacancy and displacement and how we can work creatively to enrich our downtown, while keeping artists and cultural workers from being gentrified out of our city.
Let's look at my accomplishments
Re-opened a Crackhouse with fifty plus bodies on it
Crime rate through the roof higher than ever
Dundonald Park full of addicts
Needles in parks, businesses closing
Told the cops they're not welcome
Vote Troster!
@OttawaCitizen
This article is terrible. The real issue was the election of Catherine Mckenny followed by Ariel Troster. Progressive policies ruin cities. Ask Portland, Oregon how they're doing. It's only going to get worse for Bank St and other areas in the core.
Violence in Centretown is increasing. Property crimes. Homelessness. Addiction. I live here because I love it here but it’s beyond time for the mayor to start taking our community’s needs as seriously as he takes rural and suburban Ottawa. A night mayor isn’t going to fix this.
Remember that drug addicts are your neighbors. A few things to resolve conflicts:
Try being friends with them
Let them help themselves to your stuff
Don't call the police, use community resources instead.
The very people that abuse
@_MarkSutcliffe
and created parody accounts of him are upset that someone created a parody account of their favorite city Councillor.

Until people of Ottawa vote for councillors that actually care about reducing crime, drug abuse, and homelessness, why would anything get better?
Promoting drug abuse with safe spaces has the exact opposite effect.
See: Vancouver, Seattle, Portland.
I along with
@somerset_ward
are hoping the Catherine Crackhouse is reopened as soon as possible. Having vulnerable people out on the streets is not unacceptable. A nice cozy place with black mould and the fresh smell of burnt wood is always a nice place to call home.
I wonder why business owners have such a problem with
@ArielTroster
making "pedestrian" spaces outside their businesses.
Probably because drug addicts will loiter in such spaces

@ABetterOttawa
What do counselors
@ShawnMenard1
and
@Arieltroster
advise?
I find they are the most honest brokers on City Council.
Personally I thought Landsdowne 1 was a mistake sacrificing green space for ugly buildings.
Knock them all down & turn it into a park!
@ArielTroster
I heard with the shutdown of the “safe injection sites” you were going to convert your home and office into a safe injection site. So kind of you.
Today my office along with staff at
@somerset_ward
have authorized the opening of an unsanctioned safe injection site at Dundonald Park to help people affected by closure. The site will be opening tomorrow at 9am I will be in attendance

Don't contact my office for any actual work or problems you're having in the community.
My office is working hard at doing nothing in regards to the Catherine Crackhouse Fiasco. Any complaints send them to my email and I won't get back to you.
Catherine Crackhouse Update: Ottawa Police responded yesterday to multiple people in the house took over an hour to get people out. One officer said they're pressuring City Hall and Troster's office to demolish the property.

But if they start cracking down on Crackhouses that will displace the poor dealers and criminals who dwell within. Think of the effect this will have our neighbors.
I along with
@somerset_ward
are working hard on heritage designation for one of

's most popular properties. What a treasure it is to have such nice loving neighbors living next to you.

It's being reported that another electrical transformer was used as a meth lab in a park as the cause of the outage. Thank you
@HydroOttawa
for working hard to get it back online.
The chop shop at Centre 507 is in full swing. Bikes coming in all morning. The individuals on the steps opening up a box of needles and putting them in their bags

With the fire extinguished at the Catherine Crackhouse in glad to report that our loving caring neighbors have moved back in they've also moved into the house next door. What a lovely community full of nice neighbors we have.
I will be putting forward a motion with City Hall to ban renovictions. Landlords and developers will have to remove asbestos and other hazardous materials and complete work while the tenants are in the unit.

Workers from the Centretown Community Health Centre will have a table set up at McNabb Park at 3:30 pm today, tomorrow and Thursday. Feel free to drop by if you are wanting resources or support after the terrible incident that happened on Friday.
Your community is here for you.
So more details from someone. Apparently a fight broke out in the house and cops couldn't go into the house because they barricaded the doors. When the people finally did come out sixty one people (yes 61 people) came out of the house.

The City of Ottawa says the debt collection agency it contracted to recover tens of millions of dollars in unpaid debt has confirmed that if residents who recently took a hit to their credit scores pay up, their credit report will be corrected.
My Office was really sad to hear the news of the Catherine Crackhouse. I assure you my office along with
@somerset_ward
will do everything we can to get the house open again.
All our councilors need to pressure Mark and city staff to get off their proverbial butts and get a plan together to seriously address heat and climate events now and to ensure all cooling centers are open when needed, not just some!
@ctvottawa
GFY
Ger ready for a big mess Ottawa garbage dumped along the road, parks,… and maybe city hall 🙃
More micromanaging from Ottawa’s hypocritical overpaid bureaucrats
@Ottawahasfallen
You think this is funny? Being a City councillor is very important work. Aside from doing nothing I'm constantly berated by my constituents and if that wasn't bad enough some moron took my twitter handle.
