#Nabka73 protestors have made it to Houston city hall. Waving with Palestinian flags, I’ve seen those from Lebanon, Turkey, Mexico, Ireland, Pakistan and Bangladesh Doesn’t look like the green space in front of city hall is going to be big enough to hold everybody

One tenant I spoke to for this story fell behind on rent while in the hospital w/ COVID. Then during the Feb storm she lost water & heat for 3 days. Unable to drive to the store for boxes, too cold to pack, she lost a week to prepare for her moveout date. One crisis after another

Since last March, Houston has become a hot spot for evictions. According to Eviction Lab, more than 26,000 evictions have been filed in the Houston metro area during the pandemic—double the total of Austin and Fort Worth.

New visuals from @januaryadvisors show a historic increase in evictions in Harris County, far exceeding pre-pandemic numbers. As Houston touts another annual decrease in homelessness, it's important to note housing insecurity isn't lessening: in fact, it's the exact opposite

A small group of protestors gathered outside the embassy have seen the commotion on Wesleyan and some are joining outside the Edwards Greenway theater. (Sidenote: I’ve been coming to this theater for years. I had no idea the Israeli embassy was right next door)

In my first for @TexasObserver , I got to cover a show @camhouston director Hesse McGraw called "30 years in the making," on the legacy of DJ Screw and his influence on Houston-based or -affiliated mixed media artists

The late, great DJ Screw, born Robert Earl Davis Jr., sold mixtapes in high school for lunch money. He went on to open his own record store, sell hundreds of thousands of copies of his albums, and establish himself as the godfather of Houston hip-hop.
