Why do ppl get so pissed off when childfree ppl want spaces that remain childfree? The convo always turns to “you hate children”. There are spaces curated for families and children, which is great. So why can’t there also be spaces that are for adults only?
*Stares in Black autistic* 😳
At this point, this person truly is a garbage human being who seeks to tokenize Black autistics then gaslight us when we call them out for their racist ass behavior.
It never ceases to amaze me that when people rightfully point out how white the Goodreads Awards are that white people cry “it’s not about race it’s about quality content”. BFFR.
I genuinely don’t get the shade thrown at people who read 100+ books per year. Yes, I tend to read 250+ books a year, but this is my ONLY hobby/interest outside of work and spending time with my spouse. Also, his interest is gaming, and we prioritize those interests.
@deandraswriting
It’s not about hating kids. There are plenty of places that kids go to such as breweries and wineries that aren’t geared towards children, yet, they are there.
@DeathWarmBooks
EXACTLY. And this is what I can’t really process. Why is being childfree offensive? There are places dedicated to children, so why not have places dedicated to adults?
And this right here makes perfect sense why this author is attacking a Black author and accusing said Black author of copyright infringement…for the solar powers 🫠
Damn. Rebecca Mix and her whole team really decided that they are just gonna ride this shit out and ignore the criticism rather than admit to the racism in that damn book. For someone who is constantly yelling on this app…now she doesn’t have shit to say 🙄
@knoxdiver
I now there’s a lot of complexity here, but more often than not, I’ve seen where adults with kids allow their kids to run around unsupervised in a setting where it is inappropriate (e.g. kids climbing on a bar).
In regards to my last quote tweet, the white sapphic fantasy that centers reverse racism is The Ones We Burn by Rebecca M*x.
Only one GR review mentions it:
@TinyPrincess_D
@yogaACAB
She’s right tho. She already devotes so much of her time to training and dancing that she may not have the extra time to devote to entrepreneurship. This is a burden her white colleagues don’t have to endure.
@RichardBacula
@DeathWarmBooks
The term does not imply that children are a negative. The term literally means without children. If people correlate childfree with negativity, that’s them misusing the term.
I’ll gladly take the problematic label for calling out white autistics who continue to use their autism as an excuse for racism. Y’all are just racist ass cowards.
@JessVMo
@platinumchennel
@AjiSaineyKahESQ
Stricter how? The warnings and active ingredients are clearly printed on the label. Furthermore, the hazards are too. It’s not like gorilla glue is sold next to hair gel. As a chemist, it’s insulting to pin this on labeling. This is tragic but also of her own making.
This bookstagrammer
@readingwithmegan
is bashing a book by an indigenous writer because “she couldn’t relate”. Poor bottle blonde Megan. Dear
@SagaSFF
stop giving white girls with big accounts books by BIPOC. We need own voices reviews. Period.
I find it QWHITE interesting that this tweet gets reported and violates community rules harassment yet Forest and all of their white supremacist friends get a pass. I haven’t even been in the
#ActuallyAutistic
community long on here, and I’m already over the white apologists.
@Hostilefun
There are also recovering addicts, alcoholics, ppl who don’t drink for a hot of reasons, etc etc. sex, alcohol, and gambling shouldn’t be the only spaces that exist that are childfree.
I called out Nic in my stories on insta in regards to that offensive post that she made, and not only did she DM the whole “two sides” BS, but her partner DMed me about not knowing anything because I haven’t stepped foot in that apartheid state. Fuck both of them.
@AuthorMLRut
@theelvenqueen
The logic is that the popular books that get the most marketing are overwhelmingly white, which is why the Goodreads Awards winners are rarely diverse. It’s not a situation of quality content.
@m3ghanmecrazy
@wesderby
Having the option of restaurants, bookstores, or cafés that are childfree is not the same as banning children from ALL of those spaces. I’m saying that we can have adult only spaces…not removing children from places that they are already allowed.
This is a great point. When I say ceasefire, that is purely for the politicians that I’m screaming at because they need to take immediate action. Otherwise it is FREE PALESTINE all day every day. Until Palestine is free, NONE of us are free.
Just as a reminder the three books with anti-Blackness are:
-Wrath Goddess Sing
-The Ones we Burn
-We all Fall Down
At this point, I’d rather not have rep and leave our rep to Black folks because this is too damn much.
We all Fall Down by Rose Szabo is up next! This book is anti-black, anti-gay, and anti-trans. Attached a review by a white woman praising the book. White readers who willfully miss the racism and homophobia in books are apart of the problem!
What sucks the most about the Freydís situation is that it’s already so difficult for us queer people of color to find books and authors that represent us, and to find out that this was all an extraordinarily orchestrated lie is crushing.
At this point, there needs to be accountability for the WOC who blurbed Rebecca Mix’s book because people are under the impression that it can’t possibly be racist because of them. Anti-Blackness is common for non-Black POC. Why is this so hard to understand?!
@mindcontroll900
And there’s a long history of the term monkey being a racial slur, which is why intersectionality matters…you don’t refer to ANY Black person by that regardless if you’re talking about narcissism or not…it’s racist. Full stop.
@CouchGnome
@djpharoh
They just want to speak without zero repercussions. The majority of ppl calling them out are also autistic and speak literally, but they seem to think that gives them a pass to be unapologetically racist.
@Keldralol
@forestvanslyke
I honestly think it’s a situation of “I’m marginalized too, so I couldn’t possibly be bigoted or discriminatory towards others”, which is a really dangerous mindset.
@EvaLongoria
Apparently you forgot that latinas can be Black too. Keep doubling down. We already saw your remarks that are now circulating. And also, educate yourself on impact versus intentions and then apologize.
Oh, and in case y’all missed it. Chloe Gong deleted her five star review of The Ones We Burn without saying a damn thing. But y’all go ahead and keep defending this book and saying that it can’t possibly be racist if (non-Black) WOC signed off on it. 🫠
Who wants receipts? Patricia from FFBC emailed my PERSONAL email address to send me a threatening email. My personal email isn’t associated with my social media accounts. So she used the stored information from her database, which is a breach of privacy.
As a PhD Medicinal Chemist whose entire career focuses on making drugs…I haven’t seen any in the clinic that has a side effect of *checks notes* RACISM…what a fucking clown
I see a lot of people being upset by Mark Ruffalo’s backtracking (which is absolute BS), but in case people aren’t aware, the founder of Marvel is an Israeli-American Zionist (just learned this today).
@ghostbrowser8
@zellieimani
I’ve never called 911, and there’s entire communities devoted to alternative measures to 911 to ensure safety of the residents so…
@FaatiTheStreet
@forestvanslyke
That’s the thing, they truly do not care because they’ve got “some Black people” that agree with them abhorrent behavior.
They aren’t going to apologize. Instead, they are chalking this up to ppl overreacting on the internet. It’s bullshit.
@jusstoptalking
@TinyPrincess_D
@yogaACAB
And that’s the thing, OP is the one who made the assumptions in the first place by saying that she needed to lean into her fame in order for change to happen. OP is the one popping off at the mouth about a fellow Black woman, but yeah let’s focus on other people who also speak up
@normalishvegan
@deandraswriting
All of the breweries by me allow kids…so avoiding all breweries is the answer? When the entire point is to consume alcohol and not think about kids running around?
@KiraYoung4
@forestvanslyke
You do realize that the problematic and racist one is Forest, right?! They literally got called out by myself and other Black autistics for their racist behavior and continue to double down. And Hannah was one of the allies to call them out, and now she’s the “abuser”?! GTFOH.
@SylvesterBarzey
Okay, my thoughts have nothing to do with necessity (traveling) and places geared towards children and families. Why can’t we have spaces that aren’t only geared towards drinking and gambling for adults only?
@ghostbrowser8
@zellieimani
No I haven’t. You implied that cops are a necessity to stay safe in a community hence your “don’t call 911 for a week” comment. There are actual programs in place where cops aren’t called in emergencies and are more effective.
I'll never let anyone forget that anti Black racism affects even animals because black pets, especially black cats, are LESS likely to be adopted & & have the HIGHEST chances to be euthanized. What do you mean some ideology created by evil demons affects the lives of ANIMALS?!
@AuthorMLRut
@theelvenqueen
This is so blatantly false and there’s even statistics out there to prove that this is false. There is not equity in publishing when it comes to BIPOC. This is that “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” mentality that is 100% a fallacy. This is white privilege. Full stop.
I’m fucking irate. Why was CPR administered for 9 fucking minutes to Damar Hamlin before an AED was acquired?! Why wasn’t an AED already preemptively on the sidelines for EVERY single game. Black bodies are always on the line for entertainment.
For all my Black women, light or dark, I want you to quote RT this tweet with your favourite pic you took this year! All I want is my mentions to be filled with Black women all day today. & tomorrow.
Lol, I promise you that we don’t think that you’re proving you’re not racist…I ain’t projecting shit. You’re racist regardless of the anti-racist content you continue to post.
This. The amount of people screaming that this is a women’s issue are just ignorant and bigoted AF at this point. This DOES NOT only affect women. And if you think this is the beginning then you clearly have missed all of the anti-trans legislation that’s been rolling out.
unfollowing people who insist on erasing trans people from discussions of reproductive rights.
i’m tired of asking for our existence to be acknowledged.
we should be teaming up instead of y’all forgetting about a VERY large and INCREDIBLY vulnerable population in this fight.
I didn’t even make it this far in this book because I couldn’t stand all of the transphobia, but the fact that white queers don’t mention this AT ALL…very telling 🤬
He was also an ANGRY, DANGEROUS Black man. Let's not forget that part. But here is the Wrath Goddess Sing screenshot before I forget later. Imma try and sleep it off phew
Autistic masking includes knowing the point someone is going to make in two minutes but having to pretend the lead up to that person getting to their actual point isn't actively killing you.
Hold on, so I call out a blog tour company (Fantastic Flying Book Club) for weaponizing Black voices and posting racist ideology, and these same people release my personal information to the world to be attacked?! Are you kidding me?!
Chloe Gong was a favorite author of mine but watching her continue to silently delete reviews of problematic books that she blurbs speaks volumes. At this point, does she just associate her name with anything?!
@jusstoptalking
@TinyPrincess_D
@yogaACAB
And do you also acknowledge how incredibly tiring and demoralizing it is when that’s all you’re chalked up to in a field of majority white people? That’s the entire point. You’re expecting her to lead an entire campaign (which she advocates for) as well as take on everything else
I’ve typed, deleted, and retyped what I want to say to Nic Stone for the shit she pulled but I’m honestly at a loss. You really thought it was cute to go to an illegally occupied country that’s committing genocide. Don’t write about us when you condone genocide.
@mindcontroll900
How can you look at this exchange and demand more evidence for racism from a Black person?! Does someone need to write the n word for you to believe they are racist? I shouldn’t have to do further emotional labor to prove that Forest is racist when it’s right there.
@Annelis73174298
No it is not. And for someone who has BLM in their bio, it is NOT the responsibility of Black people to educate white people on their anti-Blackness. We already suffer the consequences and yet you want our emotional labor as well for education sake?! You’re not an ally.
@Nandini01750226
It is useless and it’s most discriminatory to marginalized folks from low income backgrounds like myself within the US. I barely scraped the 50th percentile for that dumb ass exam but proceeded to get my PhD in organic chemistry.
@hehawaiiau
@taoleighgoffe
Enjoyed getting a PhD. You’ve gotta be joking. Getting a PhD in organic chemistry was a whole new level of hell. I 100% don’t recommend it. And a Black female, it was worse.
@jsxtn83
And who do you think the publishing houses spend most of their marketing dollars on because it damn sure isn’t BIPOC?! Feel free to go look up those stats before spewing this “we all have equitable access” BS.
I’m hosting a BOOK GIVEAWAY to celebrate the release of A SHIFTING OF STARS by Kathy Kimbray!

@joyeallen
@beaukbean
Yeah, I’m going to have to wholeheartedly disagree here because the ppl enjoying these books aren’t reading it for the STEM aspect because it’s not even remotely realistic or representative of women in STEM…I say that as a PhD organic chemist.
@wolfniya
@iDripMumboSauce
I’m an organic chemist and work in a lab. This is why most labs do not allow you to wear contact lenses because once chemicals are introduced to them, they trap the chemicals underneath them and fuse to your eyeball. It’s common knowledge to the chemistry community.
@_Ndunge_
This is such a bad take. I read 300+ books a year, and I have no problem with retention especially since the content is no where near the intensity level of scientific publications that I read as a PhD medicinal chemist. I mean, come on. And even if I don’t retain all, who cares?
The hip hop community has a greater problem with Diddy possibly being a bisexual man than they do him possibly being a predator, rapist, and abuser—and that’s the true problem in our community and what we have to unlearn to combat rape culture. Diddy’s sexuality isn’t the issue.
I honestly think that the ppl who are replying that SFF isn’t inherently political and are escapist reads aren’t actually picking up on the intrinsic political nature, so to them, it doesn’t exist. Smells a lot like privilege to me 🤷🏽♀️
The science fiction & fantasy genre is LITERALLY supposed to be a commentary on real world issues AND oppression but y’all try to analyze everything y’all read based on “spice levels” and suddenly “this isn’t escapist enough for me” … READ SOMETHING ELSE!
The B&N CEO really just said that the decision not to carry certain (read - marginalized) books comes down to “taste”. What an interesting way to code your racism and bigotry 🙄
And again, this is why Black folks don’t trust all POC because y’all really are just trying to brush aside the anti-Blackness by “providing context” knowing full well a Black author was the whistleblower speaks fucking volumes. And to all the NB POC liking this, we see you.
@forestvanslyke
As a Black autistic…absolutely the fuck not. Just because YOU don’t know the history behind the Black fist doesn’t mean you get to co-opt it for autistics. Black autistics exist. PERIOD.
@Mattados
Being a WOC doesn’t mean you can’t be anti-Black. There are no Black sensitivity readers involved or editors. You don’t get to talk over Black folks like myself who are rightfully pissed off at this racist rhetoric that further perpetuates white supremacy.
@kalventure
ALL OF THIS. This was a book that I was incredibly excited for and had ZERO idea that there were Black characters and to have them oppressing white folks?! We already have ppl running and screaming about replacement theory. This is disappointing on so many levels.
