@alexalbert__ A big issue is that you can’t force tool use. Your docs recommend just telling the model “use this tool”. That doesn’t work more than half the time in our testing. We changed it to literally beg it to use the tool, but there should be a way to guarantee it, like OpenAI does.

@TedSpare If you need LLMs to output structured data like JSONs you’re much better off using GPT functions. Have found a lot of success through this.

@ylecun @artistexyz What is the point of this argument? I thought it was that the output of LLMs can’t result in meaningful physical interaction. The Spot integration shows that this isn’t the case. Nobody actually thinks text can walk, it’s always been about how it can control real-world systems.

Adding long-term memory in the form of a vector store obviously does result in enhanced planning — it’s clear to anyone that’s used these systems. “Engineering tricks” is just reductionist phrasing, the actual outcomes are what matters, not the details.

@OfficialLoganK @OpenAI Robustness could be increased for custom tooling. The thread is just killed if there’s an ongoing run and you can’t fill in a function output for whatever reason, resulting in no other action being possible.
