UNLUCKY FOR SOME: The Royal Parks has cancelled the Richmond Park Time Trials on June 23 and July 7 following the recent hostile media coverage of the inquest into the pedestrian fatality in Regent’s Park. (1/5)
With my first kid, tell
@WeAreOpenreach
/ Kelly Comms he parked below
@Merton_Council
required clearance, ignored. I go with my second child in a buggy, hardly squeezing through, he promised to move. Later he's still as he was. Banning pavement parking can't come soon enough.
A developed country is not a place where the poor have cars. It’s where the rich use public transportation.

So this was a first for me.
Driving home last week and got close passed by a van. I muttered “bloody hell” and raised my right hand in surprise at how close he was.
The driver then stopped in the middle of the lane and appeared to be waiting for me. I caught up and ……….
@Taxi_Point
Why can't you say honestly to your members: obey the law? Isn't that easier than trying to put blame on members of the public who react to the crime?
Remember the guy who pushed me off my bike when filmed on his phone? Just got confirmation he will pay well over 1K fine + costs + victim surcharge and 50 to me. The last bit I'm going to send back to victim support. Video once I get the letter with official figures.
@GMB
Ok. Let's do it. That will address 1-2 fatalities annually. Fair. Let's then go to 1700 deaths caused by motorists, many of which end up with the culprit not found or released scot-free.
That's why we wear cameras. The video is clear. The Audi driver forced the way and almost killed the lady. Such people should never have a driving licence.
@MarkPawsey
@UKParliament
It's good you worry. The best would be to provide safe infrastructure for cyclists then. Helmets dehumanise and promote dangerous driving and cycling
STUDY: People on bikes wearing helmets were perceived as “less human” compared to those without.
If the horrible implications of this aren’t obvious, if u consider people on bikes with helmets to be “less human,” you’re more likely to put them in danger.
That's an attempt of murder or gross injury and should be prosecuted without mercy
@metpoliceuk
@MetCC
@CPSUK
. This driver should never ever be allowed to work behind the wheel
@DVLAgovuk
@TfL
It may surprise some but pavements are for walking, not driving. Perfect study of delusional motorists seeing their minor inconvenience made for safety as an act of oppression
This is a systematic issues with roads in
@rbkc
. Pedestrians have priority, as per rule H2 but drivers ignore it like this
#UTAG
who literally forced his 3 tone coach on me and other pedestrians.
@NickFletcherMP
Have you ever been to Beaconsfield, Kingston maybe, Guildford, or any other traditional British town? All of them are traditionally 15-minute cities. The lack of 15-minute areas resulted in killing the highstreet shops.
I rarely put videos where a cyclist is to blame, but on this one you can see both a driver and a cyclist being 💩towards two pedestrians at the zebras. We can do better. All.
But
@theroyalparks
still doesn't have a moral spine to end using the Richmond Park as a bypass for the rat run at a massive expense of the wildlife and park users safety.
Amount of targetted harassment and threats towards
@MikeyCycling
and others (incl. me) from people defending breaking law, car domination and dangerous driving is sick. But that shows how cornered they are and how stupid. Stupid as many of those attacks are criminal offences.
It always amazes how long you can stand next to them and film them using their phones before they notice. Now imagine some child wanted to cross there. They wouldn't notice until the kid wouldn't be under the wheels.

This happens when we give out the driving licence in the Cheerio bags. 1) driving on cycle lane 2) turn into a cycle lane 3) reverse without checking. If
@CPSUK
tried can collect 12 points on one sitting.
@theJeremyVine
I hope you're alright.
@RichardDawkins
I'm great fan of your books, but I doubt it was unprovoked. Selfish gene don't like to take risks without a reason. Aggression form the vulnerable is usually result of being assaulted or in put in danger.
For context. That lad stopped afterwards, blocked my way, wanted to escalate, and said he "doesn't have to give me any space" and "he had to go close as there was traffic ahead"... 101 on how to incriminate yourself.
I'd like to thank all journalists who jumped on the bandwagon of deflecting road danger from drivers onto the cyclist. Each close pass ends up with the driver trying to escalate. If I don't post for a longer period call st George's.
So here are few things
@TheMrLoophole
is factually incorrect here: 1) those drivers using the phone in stationary traffic cause immediate danger. We have cases to prove that from
#hopefennell
to pinned video on my feed. 2) number of drivers on phones on routes we "patrol" is
'[By looking at your phone at the wheel] effectively your topping up your brain to the level of a drink-driver at every traffic light.'
'It isn't reducing the number of people committing these offences.'
@MikeyCycling
films people using their phones at the wheel. Is this right?
This is obscene. According to

Read rule 170. 180 and H2 of the Highway Code. In the past I presented how on this junction elderly lady had to wait up to 10 minutes to cross.
Wilkes & Sons, I knew them from their over the top display of national pride with flags etc in Morden. Sad that when their driver is told to not use the mobile phone while driving a lorry instead of something of "least we forget" he'd say me to "f*ck off" and "get a life". They
I got so fed up with parents from my school driving while on their phones that I offered the school to read them the most gruesome parts of interviews with PCs about RTCs. Today I had to confront one of the most responsible and active parent from our class !!! 😠😡
Dear
@metpoliceuk
. I know you're busy tackling e-scooters, but there are so many drivers texting in the traffic, so easy to spot. I took my share fare of risk recording and reporting, did not see many officers visiting places where that happens all the time.
Three rules:
1. position yourself safely with an escape route
2. stay unnoticed for as long as possible
3. wait to capture hand usage and (best) vehicle move
If any police force drops such a case, it should be reported to the local commissioner. MET hardly ever would drop such.
@MPSStokeNewton
I hope you take into account the MET and Department of Transport memorandum on pavement cycling. If not no one should accept fine for it
This thread is great. Most agree the wheelie did wrong and all are fine with it. When we post videos with motorists the non-cycling audience would make up things to blame the victim. A good example of that most of us listen and take responsibility.
Firstly I am glad both parties are OK, and there were no serious injuries.
Saw a collision this morning, between a guy on a bike and a guy in a van.
Left turn only lane, bike passes van on the inside mid corner.
Interested to hear peoples opinions on where fault lays?
This is in front of a school denied by
@Merton_Council
of having a school street. FFS.... Each morning it's used as a shortcut for rat runners. It wasn't there when I left in the morning.
@GMB
"People are surprised to know that cycling is a lawless activity when it comes to the Road Traffic Act"
@Ofcom
This is plain misinformation and the manufacturing of hatred.
Next time you say that safe active travel infrastructure is for "lycra louts" then look at this left hook without indicators. And yes she was just overtaken by this idiot in Citroen.
I promised to show what's wrong in
@theroyalparks
. Most of those cars instead of going to the closest parking cut through whole the whole park. Just look how nasty an experience it creates. How it intimidate kids and families on the bikes.
#bancarsinparks
now! (and 📵 ofc)
Again. Walking on High Street Kensington in
@RBKC
, waiting for cars to pass and this PHV drives onto while I'm already crossing. And he is 100% sure he has priority, unaware of the H2 rule. Pedestrians usually lose in such situations, why "professional" drivers don't know rules?
I recently visited the city of my origin. Some call it "a backwards Eastern Europe", but the 400k town has a cycle network denser than most UK cities and drivers stop on each crossing to let everyone pass (no need for belisha beacons).
For cycle fanatics the region recently
Hi
@MetCC
this driver was kindly asked to turn off his engine when parked. In the reaction he walked out, pushed me and started to use threats. He drove off in the direction of Wimbledon. I was with s child. LC14LYX.
She is a victim
She received abuse and threats after becoming a victim
That came from somewhere
From maintained and engineered hate towards vulnerable road users and motorists entitlement
British cyclist to miss Tour of Britain after being hit by driver who tried to "squeeze huge 4x4 past at high speed" on country lane blind bend before returning to "verbally abuse and threaten" female rider
I just learned that in the country of my birth, Poland, cars above 2.5t are not allowed to park even partially on the pavement. At all. That means many vans and SUVs. If Poland can implement it, what's wrong with the UK then?
I rarely have a go on cyclists, but if you RLJ then don't do that just to brake in front of a scared kid. And then don't tell me that you ride here for 8yrs so you know how to be safe. The same argument is used by motorists who kill. You may not agree but I'll stay 💯 anti RLJ.
I hate the hiviz nonsense. But please, when it's dark use the lights. We require them for motorists, they are required for us too. When I drive, you know I'm looking out for cycles. But in rain and darkness some I see later than I'd prefer to, even when I go slowly.
Impatient, close passing moped driver knocked us off our bike today. Fortunately the police (?) were right behind us, so they could scold me for not wearing a helmet and then leave. First time off my bike since 2007.
Sigrid is fine; my knee is messed up, can't ride for a bit.
Hi,
@lb_southwark
is browsing Instagram and telling members of the public to "F-off" after being told to not do that acceptable for your employees? Full footage will be sent to MET today.
I'm not a fan of publishing an event and rejecting criticism straight away. Safety of the vulnerable road users is at my heart as you can easily check. The driver should not force his way and could have fooled the cyclists by slowing down and then speeding off (looks like it was
@MikeyCycling
I think
@MikeyCycling
that's good starting point for petition to parliament for strict law against weaponising cars. You have platform to promote it and we all, including
@theJeremyVine
will do all to help.
There are 💩 drivers outside of the UK too. There are latent sentences outside of the UK too. There are thick as custard petrolsexuals in the comments who blame the victim outside of the UK as well. Well. We can only join forces in calling them out.
Hi
@bandq_help
. Great you allow people of
#Tooting
to do shopping within walking distance, but can you please schedule your deliveries outside of red route/CS7 operation time? You push cyclists towards one of the busiest and most dangerous roads in SW London. Not the first time.
@criticalurban
I wanted to remind you the difference between running next to a stopped train and standing while passed by a moving train, but then I recollected you created this account to post nonsense trolling of cycling and pretending to be an urbanist.
@Taxi_Point
Maybe "London Finest" should respect the law and not put themselves, their clients and other road users in danger by using the phone while driving? It may solve the sneaky problem, no?
Richmond Park should be permanently closed for any motor through traffic and access should be allowed to park directly behind the gates.
@theroyalparks
need to grow up and understand it (together with other decision makers).
This is not the first time I see appalling standards from your team
@wimbledondrivin

I can divide my audience here, but have to say it. Compared to motorists, no cyclist causes remotely similar danger to other road users. But it doesn't mean we don't have to be careful. Give the way to the pedestrians, and be prepared to react when they make mistakes. This post
He drove my attention by erratic invading the cycle lane near pedestrian isles, without checking the mirrors (saw his face in them). I had the impression I saw the phone. Thanks to the magic stick I confirmed. His comment: "who gives a f**k" and "fat c**t" won't help his defence
Good morning

@MetCC
another morning there is a delivery truck from
@BandQ
(with papers visible on the dashboard) parked on red route during the time of its operation in front of Tooting B&Q shop. Continuous lack of enforcement here is a negligence
@wandbc
The moment "I did not see you" if the case goes to court means the driver pleads guilty to driving without due care and attention. Obviously a driver's fault. Daily occurrence on UK roads.

Nick, with all respect, it's a rubbish. They do exactly what's safer here. By riding in teo they make the column sorter, so easier to overtake. All legal and as advised. I know you need clicks, but that makes you look unprofessional as a lawyer.
Can you help find the driver responsible for a hit and run in North Hyde Lane
