Thank you

It has been my honour to serve Vancouver as a
@ParkBoard
Commissioner this year. As an ABC candidate, I knocked on a lot of doors with my fellow candidates and promised to keep our elected Board and to manage it professionally.
I intend on keeping that promise.
The quiet part out loud -
@KenSimCity
will consolidate Park Board decisions within the Mayor’s Office. No input from Councillors nor from the public.
Tell me how adding a car lane serves the community over renewals to the Bathhouse and Alexandra Park, among others?
Vancouver Park Board commissioners have rejected City Council's proposal to alter Beach Avenue west of Denman Street to reopen a vehicle lane.
Mayor Ken Sim asserts it'll go ahead anyway next year when the Park Board is abolished.

We are excited to meet this challenge and remove the temporary Stanley Park bike. The Board is also excited that the park user experience, summer usage data and stakeholders will be considered when staff report back to the Board in summer 2023.
After hearing David Eby said abolishing Park Board would not be a priority of the new government before the end of its [pb] current term, I knew I could finally vote knowing my ballot would not be used as justification to abolish the Park Board.
#IvotedBC
“The mayor has failed to build any political case to justify abolishing local democracy at the Vancouver park board.
Tell your local MLA candidate that local democracy matters to you.”

Get used to this. This how our parks and recreational facilities will be ‘managed’ by ABC - backroom deals that favour their political friends and backers without any due diligence.

Why wasn’t transition plan given to the citizens of Vancouver prior to the ABC majority dominated vote to axe the park board? Where was the rationale and clear examples of cash saving? Where was the first nations engagement? Why does Premier sound like sole adult in the room?
Has any
@Vote4ABC
Councillor come forward with any answers to any of these questions?
I see them tweeting about crosswalks and flag raising, but silence on standing up for integrity.
Why the silence? Why now?
Where is the
@LennyNanZhou
that knocked on doors with me?
The rush to suspend the work of the Integrity Commissioner is suspicious.
ABC Cllrs votes to suspend the work while reviewing the scope of the office. But the earliest we could hire someone to do that review is end of Sept.
Why the rush to shut down ongoing investigations?
Today’s decision by
@Vote4ABC
to scrape the West End Waterfront Plan isn’t the end.
The duly-elected Park Board will continue to push for coastal adaptations to mitigate against climate change.
It’s the right thing to do.

As I sit here with my wife and family on this New Year, I truly feel the weight of my promise to make

Maybe, Council has heard loud and clear that
@LennyNanZhou

Maybe, Council is prepared to simply accept the directions already made by the Integrity Comms., which address the scope concern?
Or, maybe,
@Vote4ABC
doesn’t care about Vancouver voters?

The amendment passed last night included the following amenities: Alexandria park and bandstand renewal, the Bathhouse renewal, new skatepark and pavilion, destination playground, beach cafe, rollerskating plaza and enhancing the space under the Burrard St. bridge.
Last night's Park Board's decision let down Vancouverites. The elected Park Board made the irrational decision not to grow and expand park space in the West End. They also said no to safer streets by turning down a fully funded AAA bike lane and improved pedestrian crossings.🚲🚸
Extremely proud to vote today for the entire

Under the terms of UNDRIP, the City must consult and collaborate with the Nations. Collaboration is a proactive and inclusive process that should have occurred well before the December 6th announcement.
The motion put forward by Mayor Sim is flawed and undemocratic.

This is concerning. As the recently named Co-Chair of the Childcare Council of Vancouver, this decision does not meet with our mandate to add more childcare spaces throughout Vancouver. I’d be pleased to work alongside you addressing this matter.
This morning I was disappointed to read that an application for more much-needed childcare spaces in our city was rejected by an independent review board. Increasing childcare spaces is a priority for our communities, and I’ve asked city staff what mechanisms there are to review

I will continue to fight to protect our parks and to ensure transparency and engagement is included in all decisions.

West End residents begging the city and (surprise!) the Park Board to turn on the fountains at Bute and Haro. City says they need to be retrofitted first. Makes no sense why this work couldn’t have been done over the winter months, but par for the course in Vancouver these days.
You are invited to meet the Independent Park Board Commissioners next week.
We hope to hear from you your priorities for our next Park Board session. Plus, we want to share how we plan to fight to preserve the democratically elected Park Board.
