Listen: Christensen on lack of transparency/accountability calling out ABC on CBC🔥 In the last meeting before the summer break, Vancouver city council voted to suspend the work of Integrity Commissioner. Now, concerns about what this will mean once council resumes this fall

The signal to developers yesterday: ABC are rewarding speculation, retroactively and in perpituity, and don't care to study or track displacement of vulnerable renters in Broadway Corridor. The signal to public: ABC intentions are not what they campaigned on.

Ugh. This Mobi station is removing the need for up to 15 vehicles that might otherwise be jockeying for those very same free parking spots that this small-minded motorist feels entitled to. - this reckless Anti Bike Campaign could result in real damage to the bike or cyclist!

Someone's been repeatedly deflating all the bike tires at the Mobi station at Commercial & 20th. Here's a conversation between a neighbour who relies on these bikes to get to work, and the (presumed) tire deflator.

Horrific, preventable, unnecessary. Noting in Jorge's follow up: speeding driver went home tonight, while pedestrian in crosswalk went to hospital with a head injury. He's right of course- w/out enforcement, physical interventions or proactive planning -we've failed VisionZero

So here’s today’s Vision Zero failure: Driver speeding down alley between Davie & Burnaby, hits a pedestrian on a crosswalk, and keeps driving for another 10 metres with pedestrian on hood, then stops and ejects pedestrian onto opposite sidewalk, hitting his head on curb.

Mayor Sim has called a "special meeting" for Tuesday to enact amendments to Code of Conduct by-law, in order to suspend the Integrity Commissioner office, including active investigations. No public speakers allowed, and a quorum of 6 and bare minimum majority* to pass. 5/7

2. @KenSimCity What is the rush, why are you disenfranchising tens of thousands of Vancouver voters just one year into park board's mandate? Do you feel this is democratic? Why didn't you campaign on it if your intention was to micro manage parks under your office?

I scrubbed my social media of any US-Trump commentary a while back, fearful of being profiled crossing the border. No more. I will not supplicate to the unbridled madness of the current US presidency. Neighbours, you need to get your house in order. This is a president:

1. @KenSimCity explicitly singled out designated Permanent parks for "protection", but omitted defacto & temporary-designated park spaces including Jericho, Sunset Beach, Spanish Banks, English Bay , CRAB Park, Hadden & Vanier Park - why aren't they afforded 'protection'?

*Despite assumptions, we've been informed by legal: 1. Threshold 2/3 Council to suspend IC only applies to "appointment" (5.5) 2. Applying IC obstruction rule (6.41) is "absurd" b/c can't prevent own legislative power to enact, amend, repeal a by-law 6/7

Before I was replaced at VPLBoard, I worked w/ Melody and found her to be a smart productive trustee, and did not bring unrelated partisan politics to her role. I advocated to reappoint Ma, but nomination subcommittee is *not* non-partisan, as one might deduce from membership...

3/ At @VPL , a non-partisan nomination subcommittee recommends trustee candidates to city council for appointment. A city council nomination subcommittee then votes on the recommendations in camera. Recommendations, particularly reappointments, are usually approved without issue.

3. @KenSimCity wants a working group to determine the demise/restructure of Park Board. Group will be appointed by your office, w/terms determined by your office, outcomes determined by your office. Ken: how do you counter that this is not a centralization of power in your office?
