They want us forget but I will remember! I stand in solidarity with those who continue to fight for human rights and justice.
To combat the pressuring issue of illegal short-term rental amidst the ongoing housing crisis, the city is committed to leveraging all available resources in our toolbox to their fullest extent. A more robust enforcement process will be established by September.

@Vote4ABC
Alt-left isn't a thing. What are you even talking about?
And why is a sitting Vancouver councilor saying that it's important to consider viewpoints such as white supremacy and far-right extremism?
I'm very upset by your decision,
@elenoresturko
. Given your Federal Liberal stance and your progressive advocacy on 2SLGBTQ+ rights, women's rights, and climate change, I know your values do not align with BC Conservative.
I respect politicians who stand firm on their principles
Very upset to see this happen in Vancouver, Canada.
It brings to mind the Land Reform Movement during 1949-53 under

My 1st motion passed. I'm proud of bringing it forward because it'll improve public safety, enhance accountability & transparency. It's evidence based! Grateful for all my fellow councillors regardless the vote, city staffs & people who brought it to our attention during election

Thx for the unanimous support from my fellow councillors for my amendment to raise STR licence fees to $1000. The additional revenue will be used to improve enforcement, invest in technology & promote public education.
Raising fees & strengthening enforcement must go hand in
Completely agree! Here is what I found:
I interviewed 8 STR operators (compliance status unknown) & 5 of them had negative experiences in the past in long-term rentals with non-paying tenants. Consequently, they opted to STR instead.
When asked whether they would consider

New: 2nd column about city hall (twice) rejecting 8-kid daycare, when most Vancouver kids needing full-time care can’t get it
This daycare wouldn’t solve the bigger crisis, but its rejection doesn't bode well for city's progress on shortfall of 14k spaces
Last Thursday, I had the opportunity to meet with the enforcement team at the city. A new, automated & more effective enforcement process set to be implemented by September. I'm genuinely looking forward to witnessing its impact.

◾️Hold hosts and platforms accountable
I encourage others to email them to express your views too
Many families have to drive their kids to schools across a few catchments, resulting in traffic, environment & sustainability concerns. Of course, it causes troubles for families, impacting city's economy, affordability & vibrancy.

It's promising to have a clear goal & established a way to measure progress. 28900 units in 5 yrs, or less than 6000 units per yr, might be considered cautious given the actual demand in the city.
