My wife’s dentist charged $3000 preemptively for a laser cleaning telling us that our insurance was covering it.
Our insurance doesn’t even have a code for that and laughed at our face.
@MsAnnetteMC
One of my Grandma one day decided to deep clean her appartement, storage, prepared meals with all the food in the fridge for later, then finally drank all the old near empty bottles in the liquor cabinet.
She peacefully died in her sleep.

Unrelated but I saw my mean cat once seated in the middle of the sidewalk, a guy walking his doberman passed by and my cat, unprovoked, just smacked the dog on the nose.
The dog ran away crying.
Mean cat. Likes to hangout with raccoons 3 times his size.

My 2 y old niece used to take a huge ferry with my Mum weekly to visit my parents.
Once my Dad took her on his sail boat, when asked if she enjoyed it she said “Oh grand-ma’s boat is way bigger and faster”…

Any school bus outside very rural areas are demonstrated systemic infrastructure failures.
Not safe to bike, walk pr public transit to school.
Or no school close enough.
@perfectsweeties
Mine is a stray.
Was living in the street with his brother.
Brother got killed by a car.
Cat asked politely once to see inside our house.
It was cold that night so we let him in.
He never left.
He’s still very polite, though.

A messy girl I know was home invaded at night while sleeping.
She woke up to a guy in her bedroom and she broke his skull with a pan that was laying on her floor.

My sister had a hamster with a huge ballsack and she named it balls.
He was using them as cushion to break the fall when jumping/escaping from his cage.
They’re just built different.

I’ve been doored by a driver.
$57k med bills and handicapped for life.
Max insurance payout was $15k.
Lawyer took $7k out of it.
I’m $49k in the red for basically being assaulted. And handicapped.
@piper4missouri
Serious question; I went to a very conservative Catholic School in very conservative Switzerland. Half of our teachers were monks.
What they taught us would pass as far left here in the US.
When did the US catholics veered so much extreme right compared to conservative Euros?
@Guiness_Pig
Nah. I’m done trying to appeal to empathy.
I just lower my mask to tell them I have been diagnosed with TB but I feel fine so they shouldn’t worry.
That shuts them up quickly.

The concept of sick days is entirely US centric.
Elsewhere, if you get sick you don’t go to work.
You might need a doctor’s note after 3 days.
Nothing accrued, lost or whatever.

Not LOWER, Upper!

But why don’t police impound cars having them on sight?
They’re illegal everywhere and when you point them out to officers, they just shrug!

Agreed, but at the same time all vegetables and fruits in the US have no flavor and their texture is weird, like either really hard or chewy.
They look the same or better than in Europe but are nothing like them.

To all the people mocking the guy for being in a 2WD… Imagine him having the false confidence that 4WD traction would give him and imagine him trying to brake or take a sharp turn…
I much prefer him on 2WD
@gspeng
Mhmmm overall agree but the insurance part.
I got doored by a driver, $57k surgery, insurance reimbursed the max $15k, lawyer took $7k, I have to pay taxes on the remaining $8k.
Handicapped for life…

I’m definitely upset with “healthcare” in the US after getting minor surgery in December.
From now on, I’ll get care full price in any other country.
Better outcome and cheaper.
And you can actually get pain killers there in December!!! Amazing!

The biggest issue for me is that I don’t know what is is good or not.
People will rate food from 1 disgusting to 10 exceptional.
Everything to me is 5. Rarely a 4 or a 6.
Any food is good when hungry, any food is meh when not hungry.

I live in NJ and work in Manhattan.
I take public transportation/ bike to work, occasionally drive w-e and nights because transit options are awful then.
Congestion should be at least $50/day.

In NYC cars can do whatever they want. Park on the sidewalk, fake paper plates, no plates, whatever.
Bikes will be ticketed for things that are legal because cops don’t know the law and hate bikes with a passion.
Especially if the biker is not white.

I’ve been born and raised in Switzerland and we don’t have school buses are they are considered a systemic failure to provide public services available for all by having schools either at a walking distance or accessible with public transportation.

Definitely sexism at play too.
I’m a white male in ok shape.
Every doctor that ballparked my weight looked very surprised that my actual weight was 15 to 20 pounds over what they thought.
@velo_voyager
If you get doored by a driver while biking in NJ and suffer long term injuries and $57k med bills, the insurance will only pay $15k and your lawyer will take $7k out of the 15.
Ask me how I know.

No it’s the car in the biking lane that don’t care about others.

The risks are just not proportionate.

Yeah, I’m one of the NJ drivers that would pay the toll. I’m not wealthy by any means.
I think the toll should be reasonable at $50 off peak and $150 at peak rate.
Maybe even more.

I’ve been told that the DEA set monthly and yearly quotas per pharmacy.
Pharmacies aren’t allowed to tell you by phone if they have met their quotas.
After going in pain, in person, to 14 different pharmacies, I was told not to expect any supply for a month.
@compilerone

Nope. When your immediate family consider the concept of ‘me’ time very negatively, your only option is using your commute for this.

I’ve been injured by a driver.
$57k medical bills.
Max insurance reimbursement was $15k.
Driver has no money to be sued for.
My lawyer took $7k from it.
I have to pay taxes on the $8k left.
I’m handicapped for life and ready to burn all cars down.
@SafeCyclingEire
Being doored costed me $57k in medical bills.

Being doored did cost me $50k.
Oh and being handicapped for life.

The car that was following me leaned on their horn because I stopped to let the bus go.

@Isaac38873436
I had surgery Dec 2022.
Prescribed percocet.
Went to 14 different pharmacies, all out of DEA quotas for the year.
All told me to come back in a month.
I was hurting now, not a month from now.
Don’t get surgery in Dec or get it overseas!
@rbiv181
@mateosfo
Criminal courts will not sue driver because “he made a simple mistake”.
Driving a car in the US is a license to freely maim or kill.

And also, that person is in for a world of hurt as Computer Science classes will not help much with him or her learning Front End development.

I was vaccinated at the county super center back in March and April and they didn’t ask for insurance info.
Not anything really, just some kind of ID to assess your name and DOB.
@baoigheallain
I was doored, broken elbow, $60k surgery, handicapped for life.
Max payout by driver’s insurance was $15k from which my lawyer took $7k.
So being doored costed me $52k.

They also did over corrected opioids.
I had surgery last year and prescribed Percocet.
14 different pharmacies told me they were out of quotas for the year.
Mind you, you have to go in person at the pharmacy, they won’t tell you by phone.
Uber to 14 pharmacies, for nothing

Getting a license in the US is an absolute joke and there’s zero traffic enforcement (if you’re a white male).

I’ve quit job applications that were really tedious.
Even at jobs I really wanted and was fully qualified for.
If you’re putting applicants through pain needlessly, your internal processes will be even worse.
No thanks.

You’re deluding yourself about suing for your injuries.
As a driver in the US, if you’re not drunk, you can maim and kill at will without any consequences.
@timeforjaya
