Restrictions vs Incentives ❌ You MUST complete 5 passes before progressing to the final 1/3! ✅ Every 5 passes you make before progressing to the final 1/3 adds a point! Restricting rather than incentivizing could discourage players from finding better opportunities.

Interleaving Practice 🔹 IP involves practicing different problems in a mixed up order, as opposed to blocked practice, where one concept is learned at a time 🔹 IP shown to have better long-term learning outcomes @ProfFariaSana @EdScientists

@lagu135 Thanks for engaging! 💯 agree. I generally use a play-practice-play model, and use a variety of SSG(see below) for Play activities , with mini-“technical” Practice activities mixed in(see Take Some Time). I’d also give follows to: @JustcoachMD @TheS_Resource @PeterPrickett

The Paradox of Convergence and Divergence in Invasion Sport In sport, we often see a dichotomy of principles- in attack we disrupt the opponent by using divergent behaviors to get them out of shape, possibly by dragging players out of position, with a convergent goal of scoring.

If we can view ‘skill’ as a relationship, and “skillfullness” as the adeptness of managing that ever evolving relationship instead of as just an outcome, how much more growth and enjoyment could exist?? The parallels between the classroom and sports field I feel are vast.

The word 'learning' in school is a readherring. Learning is not an outcome. It's a process and a way of being. The learning sciences semantics of recall, retrieval, test scores are not learning. They are a small part of the process at best.

Intention vs Attention 🔹 Intention- what do we want to achieve? Are we trying to break a low block? 🔹 Attention- what do we see that helps solve the problem? What is the opponent doing that creates opportunities for action? How can we connect our intentions and attention?

Reminds me of the analogy that Coaching is like Gardening: A gardener doesn’t make a tomato, they create conditions that will help the tomato grow. A coach doesn’t make a good player, they try to create conditions for good players to thrive.

Imo I’ve never gotten a coaching resource that is good enough on it’s own. When you combine them, and create a season plan based on what fits your style there is some real value in many. My season plan includes tovo/apfc/phase of play/ and things I’ve done for years.

How we view the creative process likely impacts how we approach practice session design 📘 ❓Are we more likely to strike upon creative adaptations when we aren’t deliberately seeking them out?

Me: “That’s cool that you want to be a ref during recess.” My kid: “And if they don’t listen to me I’ll pick them up and carry them off the field.” Me: “Not sure that’s the best idea.” My kid: ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Here’s a short sequence of the JV girls building out of the back. Still a work in progress, but these young ladies have been working so hard. Every day they play to challenge one another, to have fun, and to be the best players they can. #TigerDNA
