Farmer Carl, one of my local farmers, has interns cycle through the farm on a work-trade deal. He told me only 5% want to continue farming after trying it out. They come into it gung ho about regen farming and all that jazz but aren't down for the toil.

I wonder if there's a principle that applies to systems in general at play here. If the parts of a system must fit perfectly with one another for that system to function well, then the system is brittle, fragile. If the system allows for some play among the parts, it's flexible.
