@niccruzpatane What is wrong with humanity? It looks like he ripped the J adapter right out of the Tesla’s charge port, potentially causing damage. I probably would inspect the charging port for damage and file a police report if damaged, else end his charging session.

@farzyness This sounds like an echo of what I’m thinking in my head. I can’t shake the feeling that legacy auto pulling back their EV plans yielding excess battery cell supply for Tesla’s benefit to produce lower cost vehicles, that legacy auto just sealed their fate (☠️).

@alex_avoigt There’s more to it than just having a giant casting machine to replace a bunch of small parts. The metallurgy aspect to what Tesla is doing with castings is often overlooked. Then there is the labor argument to be had when unions find out jobs will be eliminated.

@GuyDealership My first mortage payment was less than $1200/mo, and that was 9 years ago. Numbers like this suggest to me that folks will adopt TAAS (transportation as a service) as soon as they can reliably get a robotaxi wherever they need to go within 5 minutes of requesting one.

@GuyDealership The only place these sorts of automotive subscriptions are likely to work is in net-new features. Tesla’s FSD is a perfect example of something that will work as a subscription, heated seats and acceleration boosts are more likely to piss off owners.

@itskyleconner EA really needs a site design and power sharing capability like Tesla’s v3 Superchargers - a good amount of power that can be incrementally shared amongst a dozen or so more outputs. 4 post sites are not cutting it.

@itskyleconner Having just done a road trip this past weekend, I’ve come to the conclusion the longest I want to drive between stops is ~2 hours or 150ish miles. Give me lightning fast recharging and charging points everywhere.

@DirtyTesLa I used 82% of the battery in my 2022 Y doing 202 miles yesterday. Spent about 5 hours parked with sentry mode on, averaged 57.4mph and much of the expressway driving was ~75mph. IMO we need EVs that can do 350+ miles at 75mph or 300mi at 80mph.

@itskyleconner That would be neat to see, you could calculate the cost per kWh & conversion efficiency - does it beat just driving a diesel truck in fuel cost per mile (cost of generator and DCFC charger subtracted)? Or what the operating cost of providing mobile charging as a service could be.

@itskyleconner I’m a fan of building smart tech that reads license plates and bills automatic idle fees to drivers if they are plugged in or not. Integrate it with paying for parking and folks will stop ICE’ing chargers. We already have the latter part at garages in Detroit.

@brandenflasch Every hotel needs to be installing 10+ 48A chargers in 2024. Hotels with 2 and sometimes 4 doesn’t cut it today, EV drivers are almost better off DCFC to 70% before arriving at the hotel and finding a wall outlet if possible.

@iamtomnash I bought at $290 and $250, as well as at $100 and lots of places in between. Todays price doesn’t really matter since my time horizon is 15-20+ years. I expect to be buying at least through the end of this decade.

@spotted_model Nice! I’ve got my roof box on for my 500-ish mile round trip for the @teslaownersmi Summer Meetup this weekend. Taking the roof box is mostly an exercise in figuring out efficiently/velocity and timing charging stops in advance of a couple week long vacations in July and August.
