Charlotte, we've never met but I wanted to get in touch. I just read the thread and I feel physically sick. I cannot imagine how you're coping. I hope you've got kind people around you and that they give you the strength to fight this. Sending love!

I often wonder why people come back to tele. In a world of so much content, what makes it special? The answer is people like Eddie Butler. The kind of people who have this inherent, poetic, warm magic that you just can’t learn. Today is a sad, sad day.

I’d love to do something similar here but I’m unsure where to start looking.

You know what's refreshing? People swallowing their pride, admitting they don't fully understand something and being prepared to listen and learn, instead of contributing needlessly to an already noisy, complicated space.

If your mam’s friend’s cousin’s neighbour sends you a WhatsApp saying they’ve been told by their friend’s cousin who works in the office next to the government’s catering company’s pal that there’s going to be a lockdown, don’t go passing that ‘news’ on. We’re all nervous enough.
I'm thrilled to be graduating from

It really was the best year.

Dwi’n meddwl am y rhai sydd heb eu mamau, y rhai sydd eisiau bod yn famau, y rhai sydd wedi colli eu babis, y rhai sy’n dost a’r rhai sydd heb berthnasau iachus 🌸 🌸 🌸
On the bus home, an older man stood up to get off. As he stood, the bus stopped. He wasn’t holding on + fell backwards. 3 people snapped to attention, throwing their hands out to stop him. He smiled + got off, unharmed. Mae pobl da yn gwneud pethau tawel a charedig bob dydd ♥️
If you’re having a rough day, please remember my mother’s friend only agreed to go to my primary school Christmas fair with her because she thought she was going to meet Sean Connery.
I recorded a news bulletin on my phone for my 5 year old cousin’s birthday in lockdown. She’s now convinced she’s made the headlines + is veritably chuffed about the PM’s statement highlighting her ‘significant impact on society’. I think I’ll break the news to her on her 18th.
Big big big fan of
@TheNewsAgents
but would have enjoyed more than a few minutes analysis on the resignation of Mark Drakeford today. Seem to recall a solid 15 mins when Sturgeon left. More tomorrow, please? Come on, in true Barnett formula spirit…
I have an ANNOUNCEMENT 📣…
I’m walking in London Fashion Week next month 🙋🏼♀️
This is a huge deal for me primarily as a disabled person, but also as someone with big ole juicy womps (What a combo)
And finally as someone who spent so many years at war with their appearance. 💓
'August slipped away like a bottle of wine' said Taylor Swift, who so clearly has never tried filling a news programme in the summer months. HELLO September.
I sat next to a lady on the bus from London who shared her Percy Pigs with me all the way home. I think I lucked out. Not all is bad in the world, folks.
Hot off the press: M&S's quarterly figures are bound to be staggeringly good considering my mother has bought EVERY SINGLE THING in the Percy Pig range this Christmas, including the bedding.

This is a clever, emotionally intelligent and utterly sensible piece about the tragedy of suicide and mental health. If you read anything today, read this.
I'm going to say it: people are snobby about books. Whether you like chick lit & fold down the pages or you colour-code your shelves & enjoy the classics, I think it's all cool. Reading is reading & books should be accessible. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

I’ve said it once this year and I’ll say it again: The Split is perfect television and Abi Morgan is a tour de force and Nicola Walker is glorious. Enough.

I hate to be ‘that’ person but over the last few weeks I’ve reduced my time on social media. I’ve capped my scrolling to 10 minutes a day. I’ve read two novels in two weeks. I feel better. I’m sleeping more. No, the irony of this tweet is not lost on me but seriously, try it.
Me 364 days of the year: “Ooo la la, I love France. Did I tell you I used to live in Paris? I’m basically a Parisienne. Look at my beret. My heart is in France. Vive la France!”
Me today: “...”
#WALvFRA
What’s changed for you since the pandemic started last year? Personally I’ve:
- moved to live with my parents
- been diagnosed with acne
- been told I need a brace on my teeth
- watched Friends on tv
Ah, growth is a wonderful thing.
I’ve not known what to say all week. Anything I write feels inadequate. As I stand to sip my morning coffee, children are being separated from their fathers. Vulnerable people are going without their medication. People are leaving their beloved country. I can’t even imagine.
I often joke that I don't go out for a run because I'm lazy and unfit. The truth is, I never feel comfortable running alone in public. When I rented a flat with a communal gym, it changed everything. I thought it was convenience but now I realise it was simply a safe space.

I can confirm that making 1,000,000 welsh cakes on your mam’s maen is a great anxiety buster. Better still if you listen to Frank Sinatra as you’re doing it and then deliver them to your neighbours’ (doorstep).

I can't begin to imagine how the brilliant

Threats and abuse, however, all focused on my PPE. Like this.
I was interviewing vulnerable contributors when deaths and infection levels were v high.

(1) Forgive me for being a broken record but it’s been a week since Boris Johnson announced his government’s plans for easing the lockdown in England and STILL some national papers are writing about his plans for “the country”.
