@stingrai78 During long (4+h) colorectal operations my consultant will “tag team” us out to have a drink and break from the table esp before crucial parts i.e the anastomosis. The difference in mindset coming back after just a drink of water/quick sit down is really apparent @DrOliverWarren

@DrEricLevi As a trainee I’m not sure that in 2018 that is the case. I spend a significant amount of time discussing non surgical/surgical options. Very rarely do I find myself in theatre “learning to operate” on someone with whome I have no part in the decision making process.
