Maternity services in the UK - our experience a thread 🧵 Our beautiful baby girl was born on the 2nd October 2022 at 40 weeks and 1 day. Missed observations of high blood pressure, fast heart rate and a MEOW score of a high 3 boarder line 4 caused us the worst heartache.

Maternity care is not safe. Start by admitting that! Maternity in the UK is horrific, 35 million won’t improve it. The staff who can’t provide basic care causing neglect need dealing with, trusts need to own up to their errors. My Martha isn’t a number or statistic.

Legacy cases, ours was October 2022 7 months without our beautiful baby girl, wondering who she would be like, how she would look, how cheeky she would be. It’s here and NOW! and always will be.

@JamesTitcombe James: you are absolutely correct! Add ‘legacy’ as in ‘legacy cases’ from a former management / leadership team. I remember the anger & hurt of families when their cases were described by a Trust as in a ‘legacy’ cohort as though they didn’t matter-some only a few yrs previously

another strong piece from @EmilyJBarley . I would love nothing more than to be at home with my partner and my baby girl. I had a C-section giving us 3 days with our beautiful daughter, who should be here if it wasn’t for errors or neglect!
