How can you even begin to imagine what John Hunt and his family are going through. God love them all - sending them strength for the future. How on earth do you come to terms with something so horrific? Their lives will never be the same again it’s absolutely heartbreaking 💔
The Derby and the Grand National - arguably the two most well known horse races for the British public. This year the first is being held at 1.30pm and the latter is held at 5.15pm. Neither are in the 2-4pm ‘premierisation’ window. Evidence what evidence?
Back home after a fab couple of weeks in Tenerife

Glorious start to the new season

there is no more welcoming track in the whole of the country. The importance of preserving such meetings and venues cannot and should not be underestimated

Great to be back racing again
@HexhamRaces
Proper British Jumps Racing! Great crowd of folk all enjoying great racing! Don’t forget how important the smaller (independent) tracks are to the whole bigger picture of British Racing.
@BHAHorseracing
I have been seriously fed up for the last couple of days & it’s not a bit like me but I just want to be back on a racetrack doing what I ❤️. Being in the fresh air trying to make a living. I miss everything about it. The ups, the downs, punters, fellow books and the horses 😢
The senior hounds at Seaton tonight. Watch the third hound Silver Dusk take up the lead in one fantastic jump

Food prep for Cheltenham Festival underway. Meat & tattie pie filling, chilli con carne and bolognaise to turn into lasagne - pastry next on the list. Made with the help of Tears for Fears tunes 🎵

in charge of washing up 🤣🤣
Judging by many of the comments it seems it is widely perceived that the premierisation plan is to boost tv viewing figures and not racecourse attendance figures. Horse racing is one of the country’s most popular spectator sports. This should be nurtured. Start from the roots up

Nice surprise - checking the pockets of one of my winter racing coats so I can wash it and put it away and finding an emergency five pound note in the inside pocket

as on-course bookmakers we are alarmed at developments regarding the trial meeting
@Goodwood
the idea of card only transactions is a threat to our future & should not have been accepted as part of the negotiations. We would like an opportunity to air our concerns
“We need to cater for everybody” –
@rc_whitelock
is against the idea of making Hexham card-only, as he explains to Andrew Thornton ahead of tonight’s seven-race card, live very shortly on Sky Sports Racing!
Feeling very lucky this morning 🍀 the other day I noticed that I’d lost one of the stones out of a ring that Paul’s Nan left me. I’ve just found it 💎 I’m over the moon
@PgarrittyPaul
This week’s blog has been abandoned and is rescheduled for tomorrow. We have spent all morning cleaning the mud off the gear and trawling through the mountain of laundry so now we are going out for a few drinks to celebrate Paul & Lou’s birthdays 🎉 🍺
