Lizzie Quinlan’s Snowed In retires following victory on his 123rd start!
He first raced back in 2011 as a 2 year old and won 11 races. We wish Snowed In a long and happy retirement! 👏
This is what makes National Hunt Racing so great.
Permit trainer and farmers Ann and Ian Hamilton being able to take on the likes of Willie Mullins, Nicky Henderson and Paul Nicholls. A great result for the north!
It was a pleasure to have Stan Hayhurst back at Hexham where he rode his 1st winner in 1950. After his riding career Stan stewarded here for many years.
The oldest living person to have ridden a Cheltenham Gold winner is looking fantastic at the age of 91.

The oldest-living jockey to have won the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
It was fantastic to have the great Stan Hayhurst here today. He won on the mare Kerstin in 1958. After riding Stan went on to become a steward at Hexham.
It’s wonderful to see Stan looking so well at the age of 90.
It was fantastic to welcome such a great crowd this afternoon.
Getting people to come racing and see the horses is without a doubt the best way of attracting new fans to the sport!
Everyone at Sky Sports Racing and At The Races is deeply saddened by the tragic deaths in Hertfordshire and our thoughts are with our colleague John Hunt, his family and friends at this awful time.
As we fast approach our Cheltenham Raceday it reminds us of the time the great Arthur Stephenson watched The Thinker win the 1987 Gold Cup from Hexham.
He saddled the winner of our Novice Chase that day. As Arthur would say:
“Little fish are sweet”
It’s good to see Conor O’Farrell’s name back on a racecard after almost 7 months off with injury. Best of luck with your return tomorrow
@CoFarrell20

Before and after!
The 1st photo shows the track after racing on Thursday and the 2nd shows the track now after the fantastic work of our ground staff and raceday staff! 👏
What a difference a week makes with a lot of hard work
@HexhamRaces
. Track has been forked, filled with divet mix (sand & grass seeds), rolled and now we leave it to rest until March 😴 well done to all the workers 😓
🗣️ “Times are changing in racing as we know but you seem to be getting a lot of runners here, a lot of people coming through the door so it’s up and up for Hexham!”
Thank you
@LeglockLuke
for showcasing Hexham at its best on a sunny Saturday Afternoon! ☀️🏇

A day in the life of a jockey…
On 4th May

in Leicestershire early am. Then drove 3 hours to help out his home team Newbrough. Harry took a catch & opened the batting, scoring the winning runs.
He then arrived here to ride in the 8:25.

Yesterday we presented Graham Lee’s son Robbie with a cheque for £5,919, raised at our Cheltenham Preview Night.
Robbie also made our crowd aware of the Graham Lee Racing Club - a fantastic opportunity to join a racing club and support a great cause.
Everyone at Hexham Racecourse is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Jonathan Haynes.
Jonathan was a great supporter of Hexham and will be missed by all.
A celebration of his life will be held in the Henderson Suite at Hexham Racecourse on Wednesday 17th April at 1pm,

is against the idea of making Hexham card-only, as he explains to Andrew Thornton ahead of tonight’s seven-race card, live very shortly on Sky Sports Racing!
Our next meeting is Heart of all England Raceday - Saturday 13th May.
The ‘Heart’ was first run in 1907, this week we will be looking back at some famous horses who have competed in the historic race.

Cartmel win number 9⃣!
Record-breaking Tonto's Spirit holds on tenaciously to make it nine career wins
@Cartmelrace

Remarkable stuff from the 11-year-old! ❤️
Mark, the rest of the groundstaff team & all other helpers deserve a huge amount of credit for their hard work on the track this year. Work that often goes unrecognised.
16/16 meetings completed, including our last two meetings that could easily have gone either way.
Huge thanks to
@Darren_Owen
for making little Isaac’s day!
Isaac’s Mum is part of our raceday team and says he loves to pretend to commentate on the horses when playing with his toys at home!
Future commentator in the making…
Many congratulations to
@lucindavrussell
for breaking her own record for jumps wins in a season by a Scottish trainer!
It was a fantastic way to do it, with a homebred mare leased to Nic Crofts Tay Valley Chasers who named the race in memory of his son Patrick.
We were delighted to win
@TheRCA
Warmest Welcome award.
All credit goes to each and everyone of our team for going out of their way to make all visitors to Hexham feel welcome!
Our 3rd race on Saturday is the Hexham Legend “Event Of Sivola” Memorial Handicap Chase.
Event Of Sivola was a real favourite here running ten times, winning twice and placing six times.
Thank you
@URSAMAJORRACING
for choosing to run his memorial race at his beloved Hexham.
Huge congratulations to Brian Ellison on training his 600th National Hunt winner with Dinons winning at Hexham!
Brian also had his 1st winner here!
It was a fantastic training performance as well, Dinons had been off the track for 2 years.
@BERacingLtd
We’re happy to have
@MCYeeehaaa
at Hexham for
@AtTheRaces
today! On his first trip to Britain’s most scenic racecourse, he gives you a couple of horses to watch out for today.
In the last few days we have had customers book to come racing at Hexham from London, Devon, Surrey and… Viriginia USA!
Great dedication from our supporters!
Management
@HexhamRaces
offer a huge thanks to Officials, Jockeys, Owners, Trainers & all outdoor staff who made superhuman efforts to race today. Last but not least thank you to our lovely sponsors & customers for their support in horrendous conditions. 👏👏
Some recent projects, both with the aim of improving customer experience.
All racegoers can now get up close to the 1st, 2nd & 3rd horses in the winners enclosure. And a new viewing platform in front of the Princess Anne bar.
The Characterful Border Post
Small tracks are more juicy! Or something like that.
This week we’re celebrating the small independent racecourses.
Read on at: .
We have been levelling the take off and landing side of some of the fences. The yellow paint shows the build up from the horses running towards the jump. The open ditch is also getting rebuilt, the fences get rebuilt with fresh birch every 3 years.
