Want to incorporate R into your Stats class? Does your lab manager want to pick up some R skills? Maybe you're looking to get into R but don't know where to start?
Look at PSYCH! Psychological Statistics You Can Handle - a 21 part Module to teach R to psych students.

Has anyone else felt like reviews have been getting more negative and aggressive? I've received two different papers back with undergraduate coauthors, and reviews are harsher than any I received in grad school. The students are hurt. Are we taking out frustrations on authors?
Can we stop calling them personal statements, when PhD programs are looking for research statements? It’s dishonest and puts those who do not know at a disadvantage.
@PaoloAPalma
I warn them about this exact thing by going step by step showing them what exactly NOT TO DO and emphasize how this is exactly what you shouldNT click or where you DONT put the doi. Let the academic who hasn’t used sci-hub or Libgen once cast the first stone.
I am so excited to finally announce that I will be joining
@wjcollege
as an Assistant Professor of Psychology! It is an amazing opportunity with a fantastic department, and I am so excited to teach and be taught by an amazing group of students about social psych, policy, R &more!
Alright, I’ll say it.
What’s the point of academic Twitter if no one is going to fully explain the SRCD drama to the rest of us? We want the public receipts!!
This is a horrible rule, overstepping current precedent, and stripping rights away from those who are in the most need for it. I'll be tweeting about this - please be sure to file your comment in when the 60 day window opens on Monday!

On campus interview, I asked "Tell me about living here." 3 faculty in a row, also ordered in seniority: (1) My spouse & I divorced. (2) My spouse and I are currently separated. (3) My relationship with my spouse is suffering.
I appreciated the honesty at least. Hope theyre well.
Dear undergrad who submitted to Psi Chi's Journal of Psychological Research: I am sorry for the >7,000 word review you're about to receive. 😳I hope you know I centered my comments helping you be more reflective in the language we use and the harm that can come if we are not.

I’m very happy to announce that I’ve been chosen to be the James Marshall Public Policy Fellow for
@SPSSI
for the 2019-2020 year! I’m honored to be selected and I am excited to work with Congress to help generate scientifically informed policy.
This fellowship changed my life. I can't speak highly enough of it. I will help anyone and everyone interested in this fellowship. I will read & edit your applications a million times. Answer questions. Dream dreams. Whatever you want - just DM me.
Yesterday was my final day working on the Hill. It’s hard to express everything I was able to work on, but every day changed my life. I hope I can bring some lessons into my classroom at W&J.

I’ve unionized my syllabus. I outlined all the expectations and assignments and now the bargaining team (the class) needs to come to the table with a proposal of how much each is worth. I’ve given some suggestions for where management might be willing to go, but curious to see!

It's 2021 and social psychologists are still being extremely condescending to others without reason like this: Men who get called out for being rude and inaccurate don't respond to open dialogue opportunities about their behavior because they believe in "mentoring". 🧐🤦♂️🙄
So honored to have received a

Adjunct positions are not a choice, nor should it be offered as one. Even at a magical timeline where you land 4/4 adjuncting, it’s multiple Unis (travel), prep, politics, all for what, 4K per course? 32k?
I know this whole Biden’s house thing is funny, but does anyone else notice the larger issue - it completely ignores >Dr.< Biden’s earnings? The fact her earnings aren’t even being considered in the conversation is so telling about the value some fail to put on women’s work.
@MatthewFacciani
I do this as an assignment in my seminars. They have to pick a citation and report to the class whether or not it fits. Typically get 25% not fitting.
In my newest article, "Workers' rights are human rights: Organizing the psychology of labor movements", I review the current research in

It's the end of my first semester as an Assistant Professor, and figure this might be time for me to reflect on what went well, what I learned, and how many people I'm thankful for for being given such an amazing opportunity.

I'll admit it - the burnout hit after Thanksgiving and I haven't been able to get out of it. Got my grading done, but really struggling to do much more. This semester was a doozy and I feel like I'm finally coming up for air. I know I need to get back on the horse, but how?
@PaoloAPalma
If they are, they're clearly missing the responding in a timely manner piece of twitter though 🤣. This last one sat in review since March.
Happy to announce I've officially started assisting

On December 19, 2019, I signed a contract to write a SpringerBrief book about politics & psychology. On May 23, 2021, my MIL asked me how my book was going.
In a five month sprint that I would not recommend to anyone, and 40,005 words later, I am DONE. Until edits from editor.
This is just shameful. Embarrassing to think that anyone finds this an appropriate way to engage in scientific discussion, and says a LOT that it hasn't been taken down or issued an apology to the ECR. If you actually read paper, it's interesting - & clearly being misinterpreted.
It's 2021 and social psychologists are still publishing papers like this: Women wearing not much clothing on a night out don't get cold because they believe that they "look hot" (geddit?)🧐🤦♂️🙄

PSYCH is built via the swirl package, which encourages learning through real-time feedback & short lessons. The Swirl Course Network has many courses to help individuals learn, but much of the content is outdated. PSYCH focuses on tidy language with |> base pipe utilization. 2/🧵
Update: Ratified contract (Union’s proposals were accepted outright; I felt like an incompetent management was the most appropriate and realistic role to take). Plus, they have the power of evals and that is scarier than a strike vote.

Jesus. I'm not sure LJ deserves the benefit of the doubt *at all*. Roberts' reply is beautiful and worth the read -- but it begs us all to ask: Why was it necessary? What is PoPS doing if it's publishing commentary like this?

I’ll never forget the interview that said I didn’t have enough collaborations.

I told my colleagues how I exchanged embarrassing photos of myself for students to fill out their evals, and now they’re asking how many reviews they need to do to also see them… I might have just solved the getting people to participate in peer review problem—but at what cost.
Honored to be a Research Affiliate w/ the Center for the Science of Moral Understanding. There are so many amazing researchers in this group (swinging above my weight class!) to build collaboration and cooperation on critically important issues. Thanks

In unrelated news, I am buying a whole new wardrobe.
1 yr ago, I went to a conference and my attention couldn’t last 25 mins before I had to walk around. It was debilitating. I decided that moment to start seeking help. This year, with my ADHD diagnosis, meds,&therapy, I’ve rediscovered my focus in conferences. Life changing.
I just found out most of the faculty (myself incl.) have phishing training that are all “extremely overdue” (>200 days late). It’s a secret competition to see who has the longest overdue clock.
But really, how do the trainings ALSO look like more phishing attempts?!
My 1st diss paper is online in

I’ll say it - I have no idea how I’m supposed to teach in moments like these. Especially not Intro, or the benefits of the Scientific Method. It all seems so insignificant to the greater picture, the injustice going on.
