Last semester a student asked me why I hadn’t graded their paper. I said the paper was flagged as having ChatGPT generated content & wasn’t sure how to proceed. Student said they didn’t use ChatGPT; it must have been their friend who wrote the paper for them. 🫠

@caromholland SO TRUE. A couple of years ago, I had a creepy professor (who was mad that I wouldn't date him) send me a picture of a shirt with the slogan "trophy wife" and said I would need it after I "washed out" of my PhD program. Proving him wrong has been my major motivation.

How I learned words have different meanings to different people: I was negotiating a salary & was told 56K was the most they could pay me, due to ✨equity✨. Didn’t want to seem anti-equity, so I didn’t press further. I later found out a dude at my level was being paid 72K.

I feel like there’d be a lot less misunderstanding of Evolutionary Psychology if scholars inside the field could vote on whom they consider representative of the field. Just because someone portrays themselves as representing a field doesn’t mean that they do. 🤷🏻‍♀️

@realnews I get this. But, he’s typically asked to run and interpret basic stats (t-tests, ANOVA, regression, etc.), which can easily be done in SPSS. IMO, if one is doing a dissertation that requires these stats, they should be able to run & interpret these stats.
