For St Catherine’s Day here’s a miniature from Harley MS 2966, f.10r. The image has faded, maybe due to devotional kissing of the page. Catherine is the patron saint of unmarried girls, philosophers, students, librarians, archivists, & potters.

at our local Community Mental Health Centre, & I cannot emphasise enough how important it is to talk about your mental health. Refer via your GP or, if you don't feel safe, through A&E. You aren't alone, I promise.
One of the reasons why I’m such a strong supporter of all those who bravely speak out on matters concerning their mental health, is that having been sectioned twice, on a secure, locked ward and heavily over medicated, I understand & remember exactly what happens when you don’t.
I’ve really struggled to write anything over the last year: a winning combo of COVID, rollercoastering mental health & the grind of being a single parent. But last night I sent the 2nd draft of the Star Trek chapter & remembered how much I love writing. Spring is coming, I hope.
My Nan’s partner went into a nursing home at the start of lockdown & we never saw him again. They’d been together 25 years when he died. My sister home schooled 3 kids. Small & I spent months almost entirely alone. Fuck the Tories. Fuck those avaricious cunts.

Reading literature does not make you a literature lover.
Actual literature lovers have...
- pilgrimaged to Canterbury
- pledged their soul to the Devil
- kept wife in attic & tried to committed bigamy with an employee
- Married Darcy.
- Exited left, pursued by a bear.
Reading history books does not make you a history lover.
Actual history lovers have...
- read ALL the history books
- tweet only in Latin
- have had bubonic plague at least twice
- been married to Henry VIII
- been displayed in the Louvre
