Conference season: the time of year when I get FOMO & wish my academic career had gone differently. So I’ll have a walk to the front, take in the sea air, & contemplate the wins - small, but many - instead. Nothing that a mountain of chorizo can’t cure (see what I did there?).

The Devil tempts Christ: Arundel MS 157, f.5. The Devil once visited #Aberystwyth & built a bridge for an old lady in exchange for the soul of the first living thing to cross it. Needless to say she outwitted him, & the Devil was never seen in #Ceredigion again. #FolkloreThursday

I went up Constitution Hill so you don’t have to. Perfect view today, just windy enough to blow the cobwebs away, & I had the strongest blue slushy I’ve eaten since they brought in food colouring laws. 10/10. #Aberystwyth

Woke up at 5am & couldn’t get back to sleep. The compensation for the early morning was getting to experience the birdsong at the beginning of the day. The world is a horror story, isn’t it? Irreparably broken. But the sky is blue & that’s what I’ll hold on to.
