As per ILO & IHD joint report published recently, nearly 83% of the jobless population belongs to the youth demographic.

@deepakshenoy 5L to 25L is a bit of an increase, should have been 3x instead of 5x. Reducing the number of weekly expiries is required, too much was spread out. Deepak, doesn't reduced liquidity cause its own problems?

@iRadhikaGupta What we need is a tool that can compare all mutual funds with the overlaps. Quite often the existing tools do a maximum of 5 funds. That's not going to help this investor.

@malpani One of the things they did in Singapore was increase salaries for all govt officers, but under one condition. If they were caught being corrupt, the punishment would be really really severe. So far it has been working well. Our justice system is flawed, but there is hope.

Everytime I log into @DhanHQ I'm impressed with the small tweaks. It is not @zerodhaonline in its minimalismistic UI, but it does have good stuff that helps you focus on your investment. I tried an SIP with Zerodha for PGINVIT for a daily basis. While Zerodha offers granularity

@ActusDei I mean: how complex can it get...?! "KYC Validated" and "KYC Registered" are good distinction, but when we recently checked a clients KYC on two sites: He has both! Which is it? Even the platforms can't decide. Hell is about to break loose...

@ravihanda I have this conversation with a lot of NRI friends, all the time. An NRI friend who returned pointed out: We're excited & happy when we're flying to India. The excitement ends after we deboard the plane! India disappoints both the pessimist and the optimist!

@WeekendInvestng Alok, unfortunately, we have a tendency of looking at the past, and try to relive our glory. Rather, we should be looking to the future, and try to be a beacon for all countries. Building on what we have now, and taking that to new levels. I'd like to see that happen.

@ActusDei Neil, just to clarify here. Social security is not available as an option to those in the Middle East. NRIs from US/UK/Europe/AU/NZ probably have it better in terms of receiving a pension, as against those who work in the MidEast.

@WeekendInvestng Alok, can't agree with this. I've stayed abroad and lived a good life there. There are pros and cons to wherever you stay. I highly recommend everyone go stay abroad for some time and gain a variety of world views. Some leave for money, some leave for better opportunities -

@sajithpai By 2030, India’s median age is 30. As of 2021... - India has a median age of 28 - Kerala has the oldest median age at 35 - Bihar has the youngest median age at 22 So, if you want to focus on the elderly, the best test ground would be in Kerala which will become the oldest state

@vijaimantrimf Residential RE is probably the worst investment to make in India. Again, I said investment - living in the house is different. Everyone should try to buy the house they live in. Just that as an investment it's a bad idea, with rental yields at 3% tops.

Note for those from India travelling to the DLDCs (digital less developed countries) that would be most of Europe and UK, either carry some cash or access to cash through a forex card. Also carry smaller notes of 10s and 20s rather than large denomination ones.

@InvesysCapital Interesting. Recently sold my apartment. Took advantage of indexation, and as a result, didn't have to pay tax. But I sold the flat below the market value. Had I sold at market value, I would have paid 20%.

@ChanderBhatia01 Yes, you get more than an education. You gain perspective. You engage with diverse nationalities. An Indian education can't provide that. But I only recommend going abroad if you can afford it. Going into debt, is not worth it if you/family can't bear the financial burden.

Instead of imposing restrictions / bans, it would be better to sign up JVs and partnerships as we have done in the past... Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra-Renault, Bharti Axa, or recently such as Starbucks Tata.

I hope Mint covers more alt investments. When you try to "democratize" investing that was meant for HNIs who could deal with this risk - you have to deal with the other side of returns (i.e. risks)! HNIs have access to strong legal teams incase something goes wrong. Not

Don't get into fancy-sounding alternative investments. You will end up with defaults. @yash_roongta 's superb story gives us specific examples. Regulated alternatives will emerge (think OBPPs or SM REITs) & ways to reduce risk (advice from RIA). Use them.

@ravihanda We used to have dogs in our grandparents' house. But it was a house, not an apartment - which IMO, is not the best environment for a dog. Isn't there a service lift that the lady could have used? It would be a courtesy to those who aren't dog parents!

@WeekendInvestng I'm all for removing income tax, just tax via GST/VAT - saves the headache of filing taxes. Anyways, only 3% of the population are filing, why is so much time and resource wasted for so little return.

@derekhalpern @tferriss @Patreon @brainpicker While I love Derek’s idea. The problem about a subscription model is from a user pov. If I had to pay $10/m just to listen to a variety of podcasts, say 12 - that’s $120 per month spend. Now you know why @Spotify makes sense.
