My wife is a nursing instructor. She’s shared some of the submitted assignments. You would get at least an A- from her. The fact that you even have a template for APA puts you a leg up.
For all contact sports fans, coaches and players (and everyone in general) learn CPR and where to locate your AED. Time matters. Seconds are truly precious. Awesome response and outcome. Thanks for sharing, Doc

Here’s a video I made breaking down my perspective on what happened to Damar Hamlin on January 2nd, 2023. He has now officially come out and confirmed the diagnosis. Retweet to spread awareness.

create an account and apply. You’ll have to get verification from your employers. You send it all in and then they get back to you and tell you either you quality, you don’t qualify, or how many payments you have that qualified.
@MurseWordsworth
I report ever email as phishing that I didn’t authorize now for my per diem. Which is every email not from my direct manager or the unending chains that come from them. They’ll never accuse me of not being vigilant enough again.
@topknottraveler
I don’t know the appropriate way to say it. But her body died in 2018 from liver failure after existing with an anoxic brain injury for four years. That’s the nicest and most accurate way to say it.
@topknottraveler
I’m surprised hospitals haven’t embraced a partnership with Uber or Lyft yet. Just have a hospital account that security/reception/ombudsman has and send them on their way. East to track. And no risk of vouchers going missing or getting sold (which was a thing in Philly).
@saltywidowrn
That's a crappy precedent. I'd bring it up to the nurse manager to have a discussion with the appropriate attendings to get it addressed.
@MikeMcClurkinMD
@traependergrast
This is important. People look at healthcare and education in the US in isolation. They are intricately tied together. You can't expect physicians to take on $400K in debt or nurses $200K for the lower salaries that would go along with Medicare for all. We need reform of both.
@Cardiac_Cutie
I'd love to see the numbers on how it is more cost effective to be understaffed (short term or chronically) and then have to pay pool or travelers. Feels like it'd be a wash financiallty, but job satisfaction...

Don't really understand the haters. I don't even want to know what I've paid towards my loan, but I've been paying a decent amount for a LONG time and I've made hardly any dent.

Yep! Reminds me of that! Except he clearly had mental illnesses and exposed all of the gaps in the system. This nurse certainly messed up, but her mistakes show all of the various problems of the system that failed her and the patient.

In the same boat. I anticipate I’ll have at least 6 years, but could have as many as 9. Just submitted a week or two ago. Now impatiently waiting!
I’m super excited for this NCAA women’s basketball championship game. Awesome showcase of excellence in sports. Love Coach Staley and her Philly roots. And love Iowa and Caitlin Clark. No rooting ties but couldn’t be more excited for this game. Watching with my 1-year old
@plastic_baggy17
Haha. My wife and I had a funny conversation about this. She’s a med surg RN and teacher. I’m an icu nurse. She mentioned her family said someone was in a coma. I said ‘oh yeah? What exactly is that? They intubated and sedate or just lying there unresponsive?’ She got mad at me.
@RNSuperHero
This is the pandemic routine. Things are out of control, then numbers start becoming manageable and drop a lot. Hospitals feel comfortable, cut travelers hours and then full contracts, numbers tick up again in 6-8 weeks, there’s no staff, being travelers back. Rinse and repeat.
@itsabbyyyyy
@jsolman
@shesinscrubs
It's complicated. There were a lot of systems issues and assignment challenges that led to this in my opinion. I've seen other articles that talked about her assignment (sort of like a resource nurse) for the day, but she was stretched very thin.
@RNSuperHero
There comes a time in every nurse's career (often several times) that you have to move on to something else. It's okay to be sad for it, but it's for the best in the long run.
@shesinscrubs
I'm not surprised. I've gotten several texts per day the past 2 weeks for between $5K-8K per week offered for ICU. That's life changing money for some and the hospitals won't go after their licenses, they'll just end their contracts and they'll find another company and hospital.

100%. I'm sure they are blatantly violating hospital policy. (One could even make the stretch that those opinions are also, but the no mask wearing is pretty straightforward.)

I was with you until this part: "That all is just for an associates". If you're referring to associates prepared nurses, that's not accurate. Their education is almost identical to that of a BSN minus some community health courses and other non-technical courses.
@run4pancakes
@MadMadMadMadRN
@shesinscrubs
I already thought this was a thing. Anecdotally in my 12 years as a nurse, I'd say 90% of the PCTs I've encountered were either in nursing school or pre-reqs. This was mostly in ICUs in the northeast at large hospitals though.
@IWillMekit
@MelechThomas
Came to say the same thing. Just a wholesome entertaining show. It’s crazy to me it doesn’t have a huge following. Maybe it does.
@NCAAMLaxBets
Let’s not group D3 in with MCLA. Way different level of commitment and talent, particularly at the top end. I definitely agree with your sentiments though. I just think if you look at it on a spectrum, D3 is ahead of D2 with a big gap to D1. And way after D2 is MCLA.
@Nursing_Heretic
@rn_bearded
Sad, but very true. You probably won't even get an interview in the Philadelphia area without a BSN. Sorry you're feeling with this.
It's easy to over-complicate the design process.
So I created a step-by-step Photoshop tutorial that shows you exactly how I created this graphic.

Because the lacrosse company wants the new helmet to be sold and lacrosse players have significantly less leverage. Hockey players probably have more leeway in their equipment decisions.

Will do!
I think that's part of the problem though too. I don't want a lot of TV, mostly partially watch when I'm working a side job. So shows like that often slow me down too much with work (or if it has subtitles)!
@j_thePA
I read it and thought it was okay. If you're looking for medical books - check out any of Dr. Atul Gawande's (Better, Complications, Checklist Manifesto, or Being Mortal). They are all great. If you want a terrifying/thrilling true crime - The Good Nurse by Charles Graeber.

Those pens are my jam. I'm a nerd, but it's for this exact reason that I wear a pocket protector with two of those pens (blue) and two black sharpies and a pen light. Now I can lend them out and not be angry at my fellow man. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.
@shesinscrubs
To be clear, I'm not condoning it. I'm just not surprised. And I saw firsthand people that oversold their experience get let go quickly April through July when I was a traveler on one of these high paying travel assignments.
@shesinscrubs
One nurse definitely led to worse outcomes for at least one patient and was promptly let go. I doubt the hospital pursued any action against her. If you haven't yet, you should read "The Good Nurse" to see the lengths hospitals will go to to avoid problems.

@NursePatMacRN
They let you try IVs with your students?!? I felt like this was a glaring deficiency of nursing education. Or at least mine. :)
@Vandal_LaxCR3
@ConnorWilsonLAS
Could be. I think it provides a much more sustainable version. You can have a solid squad with 12 runners and a goalie. Traditional requires closer to 20. And that you only need a minimum of 7 to get started. Way more games, playing time and touches for all.

There could also be a choice bias from older students when the university tells them all of the pre-reqs and costs related to something that will likely take 4 years. ADN programs seem to be flexible and package things neater, faster and cheaper. (And I wish I chose that route.)
@nursekelsey
Trying to be concise here, but it's hard. The Good Nurse by Charles Graeber. Better and the Checklist Manifesto by Dr. Atul Gawande. Talking to Strangers by Malcolm Gladwell. All non fiction and I read about 80% fiction.
@marionleary
@NursePatMacRN
I actually had the opposite experience. I spent time in two different programs that were for 2nd degree nurses. Both felt like all they did was highlight the other areas for nurses to get degrees, which felt demeaning towards bedside work. This is equally detrimental.
@RyanMarino
Bruh, my afternoon was spent on trying to address this on Facebook. Anyone have good techniques for debunking conspiracies? It's so much work.
