Well this is interesting: @ejdougan talks to @JenevoraW & @mobbsca on Singing & the menopause. For us male conductors, it's also a bit of a must - like the one on 'hormones & singing' a few weeks back. A really nice listen too.

Am currently working with South African pianist Themba Mkhize (which is a thrill anyway), listening to some of his transcriptions of isicathamiya pieces. He's given me a Zulu name: ‘Madleb’eNdlovu’ - Mr Big Ears. (Madlebe -ears, iNdlovu -elephant). I'm rather chuffed.

This year #IWD celebrations have been overshadowed for me by the devastating news that the @BBCSingers is to close. The irony that the professional radio choir most championing choral music by women is considered expendable is not lost. Dona nobis pacem.

This is the genius of the King's Singers - that you can do both. And although not as lauded until two weeks ago, it's what marks @BBCSingers too and other British vocal groups, that we are versatile in a way that baffles. btw

Let's get this the right way round. Stopping amateur choirs singing responsibly together is wrong. But don't begrudge those who r now allowed to sing: they waited long enough. Keep up pressure on MPs. What's the evidence that makes singing less safe than activities now allowed?

@SaviourTortoise @Voicedoctor_uk @ifagiolini Indeed @SaviourTortoise , they are at present completely hamstrung, and the rule about only being able to have 6 if mixed adults and children is particularly damaging and difficult. Annoying too that cathedral choirs can carry on regardless as 'pro'
