From mountain hiking, OCR, open water swimming, gym, getting up at 5am to get into the office for 7am on a Sunday (the day after returning home from holiday) because I loved my work so much to … barely functioning. Don’t ever think it can’t happen to you 😷
This. We’re not terrified of covid, we just don’t want it. Just like we protect ourselves from lots of other things. Still wearing seatbelts, still washing hands after prepping raw chicken, still wearing a mask to prevent covid. It’s not difficult to understand is it?
This will be my 5th infection … twice in past two months. This week I have isolated from family, worn mask in house, HEPA, different bedroom/bathroom. For someone with housebound LC this is a big deal. Please read the literature. Please advocate for clean air in schools 🙏🏼
Fitness professionals masking 🙌 It makes zero sense to be smashing the gym & eating all the wholefoods if you’re out & about huffing SARS-COV2 all day. More of this please 😍👏🏼

I teach Pilates in my N95 because staying healthy is not just about exercise and diet. I'm so grateful for those of you still wearing a mask (if you can)
Never smoked, don’t drink, eat wholefoods, exercised daily (cardio & weight training), daily yoga/meditation, BMI always been under 22 yet I am one of these people now waiting for cardiac testing due to repeat covid infections, along with a million others.
It’s covid. Say so.
We are in the grip of a heart care crisis. Our hearts need and deserve more💔
Today we've launched a call to all political parties to prioritise heart disease as we head towards a general election.
Add your voice here👇
This is what I don’t understand - how can people not understand what’s going on?! You’re being asked not to test not because it’s not necessary but because they don’t want you linking your new health problems to covid. Wake up!!!
No one is looking out for staff. It’s not for your convenience that you don’t ‘have’ to test anymore. It means you cannot claim against your work for your health being destroyed overnight.
This 👇🏼 it’s not ‘brain fog’, it’s brain damage. It’s been over 3 years since my neuro issues began. They are only getting worse as time passes, not better. All the things mentioned below feel very familiar. And more. Comparing it to perimenopause (what we’re told) - what a joke
Today I learned that I have completely underestimated and misunderstood brain-fog post COVID - and it is terrifying.
In my mind I kind of had this impression that COVID brain-fog was just feeling a little bit forgetful or feeling very tired, and my god I was very, very wrong.
I was pro assisted dying. Like most I was naive & though it would be relief for the terminally ill. If you aren’t considering why the sudden rush globally after covid is disabling on mass, while politicians clamp down on disability benefits, you’re seeing what you want to see.
#AssistedDying
affects disabled people more than any other group. Yet our voices are rarely heard. We strongly support

When people tell us we’re isolating from society because we’re antisocial (& mentally ill 🙄). Nope. We want to be an active part of society, we want to contribute. We long for caring communities like this. Even our families won’t do this for us 🤯
Another amazing experience to share.

This group of moms would move the world to keep our children safe, happy & healthy - masking is one of the easier sacrifices 🤷🏻♀️ Mom’s Midsummer Mocktails (tested, spaced while drinking 🍹 & masked 😷 when close)
Kudos to this guy who was probably the only one in a packed stadium wearing a respirator. We all know hard it is to do this when (it feels like) the rest of the world has moved on. I hope it kept him safe today🤞🏼What an intelligent & self-assured guy 😍😷
Layered defence is important. I also appreciate some people, especially teens might feel too self-conscious to continue masking alone at school. Our kids have had no days off school (& no symptoms) since incorporating these oral & nasal sprays into our morning routine.
When people say ‘oh don’t worry I’ve just had covid, I can’t get it again for a while’ as an excuse for not masking 😑
Oh yeah, so which variant did you have??
Them: ‘what??’
Me: ‘well there’s more than one’
Them: ‘what??’
Me: 😵💫
Yeah the ‘your healthy lifestyle will save you from covid complications’ narrative needs to get in the bin. It’s simply untrue … ask the people suffering most.
Healthy lifestyles will not save you from long Covid. I was weightlifting in the gym two days a week and in the dojo for martial arts three days a week that was in 2022 and I’m still not back anywhere close to where I was.

So some good news today. Had to go to my GP surgery today for bloods. Sign on entry ‘masks must be worn’, masks provided, all staff & all patients wearing masks. See, it can be done. This ‘patients won’t wear them’ is nonsense, they will if you tell them why.

For all the ‘you’re bonkers’ I received pre-Christmas from family that I refused to see, they’re all now ill. Myself & my immediate family have had our first ‘well’ Christmas in 3 years & had a lovely time at home, just the 4 of us. If this is bonkers, I’m cool with it.

As an ex-clinical virologist myself, this is one of the main things I try to make people understand.
Most are intellectually stuck at “it’s just a really bad cold and as long as I am relatively healthy, I will be ok.”
I show them this…
People know but they do not want to openly connect the dots because they’d have to face their role in their loved ones’ (or strangers’) demise. That’s why I keep talking about it. I don’t want to hear the ‘this is so sad, if only we’d known’. You did know, we told you.
I wonder how many people are dying after covid without anyone knowing. Like our friend who developed seizures immediately after infection then died suddenly. Coroner found no cause. A friend last week died after pneumonia. Had heart attack. What caused the pneumonia?
Told a doctor yesterday we are entering another wave. They said ‘yes I know, our care homes are full of it’. I asked if their practice would reintroduce masking. Met with a very aggressive ‘No!’. This behaviour is not normal folks. Do HCWs genuinely believe covid is like flu??
England, latest official ONS COVID report. Clear uptick like we’re at the beginning of another wave.
Which is surprising given we’re into year 5 and surely there’s widespread and robust population immunity by now!
⚠️ sarcasm ⚠️
Schools have become aggressive if you test your children for covid (quoting government guidelines). I will continue to test my children for covid & if they are positive they will not be attending school until they don’t have symptoms and are testing negative. Clean the air!!!

It’s almost like they’re trying to get us to look forward to being chronically ill & needing a wheelchair as a consequence of forced repeat infection with SARS-CoV-2. Don’t worry, you’ll still be able to turn up to work & go out spending & do your bit for the economy.

I had a Long Covid clinic appointment today. I was expecting to be discharged. Instead I had the most amazingly knowledgeable, compassionate, curious clinician & an extremely validating experience. I think it’s important to recognise a good consult done incredibly well 😍🙌🏻❤️
The ongoing pandemic you mean? Something has gone wrong, yes - unmitigated spread of an airborne virus that has turned tens of thousands of highly qualified, highly skilled professionals into the ‘economically inactive’. This will continue indefinitely if covid is not addressed.
'Since the pandemic, something has gone wrong'
Rishi Sunak says 850,000 more people are now economically inactive in the UK since Covid - and not calling out this 'worrying trend' for 'fear of causing offence' would be unjust
Now get them in ALL hospitals. And if staff could not just wear them under their chins, we’d be grateful. Rates are higher in England now than they were in January. There are people who had covid in Jan just contacting their GPs about Long Covid. Don’t let it be you in 6 months.
I should say I’ve been isolating to protect myself as two of my household have been positive since Saturday. There was nothing more I could do except move out of my house. When schools had masks, we had zero covid in our house despite my husband being a GP. Schools are a problem.
I was a regular blood donor. Now I have Long Covid my blood can’t be used. I’m just glad I’m aware of my LC & therefore won’t harm anyone unknowingly. How many people donating have LC but don’t even know because doctors aren’t asking the right Qs?

Just want to share the positives of my NHS cardio appointment yesterday to give those with Long Covid (& also those who are up-to-date with the covid evidence base) some hope. A thread 🧵
So I posted something about long covid on Instagram this morning & the number of messages I’ve received - ‘why don’t we know about this?’ ‘Why isn’t this on the news?’. People honestly have no idea what covid is doing to their bodies. Absolutely clueless! Public health???
In the BMJ this week. No mention of covid though. Odd.
Also as a parent of teens, when they were toddlers, no I didn’t expect frequent viral infections, nor did they have them.
Hi 👋 Never smoked, don’t drink alcohol, never taken drugs, wholefood keto diet, yoga/mindfulness teacher, personal trainer, well hydrated, didn’t access healthcare. Health was my life. Covid obliterated the lot, left me disabled with diagnoses mounting up.
We’d like clean air.
It’s my birthday. It’s also my two year anniversary since I tested positive for the covid infection that set all the bad stuff in motion. This was me then. My life is very different today. Covid is still killing & disabling. It doesn’t have to be this way.
3 weeks into school & already my youngest needs to stay off today. Eldest came home ‘best mate ill & off & everyone has a cold’. Of course we’re still testing for covid. Negative (so far). Time to invest in PlusLife I think.
Wtf are we doing?! Why aren’t teachers screaming?
'The loud noise exposure would spike my tinnitus so bad to the point where, if I was sitting here right now, talking to you guys, I wouldn't be able to hear you.'

Not really tricky at all. If your child is ill, they should be off school. Let’s not pretend this is about children’s health or education - it’s about getting parents in work & dumping their sick kids (to infect everyone else’s).
It can be tricky deciding whether or not to keep your child off school when they are unwell.
Follow this advice on when to keep your child home:

What do you say to a doctor in 2024 that thinks the chances of inhaling SARS-CoV2 in a supermarket is slim because they … ‘don’t stand next to people’?? 😑

Every covid reinfection I get, I end up on another specialist referral; started at Long Covid clinic, then respiratory, cardio, endocrinology, rheumatology & now neurology. I’m just one person … this is happening to millions! Never attended GP pre-covid. Please start listening.
Today's figures reveal that NHS waiting lists grew again in June to 7.62 million.
14 years of Conservative neglect left the NHS broken, waiting lists rising, and patients failed.
Never again should the Conservatives be trusted with our health service.
Eldest off school last week with covid. Had a day at school and now off with D & V so another 48 hrs minimum. He’s in his GCSE year. Never had time off school pre-covid. This is not sustainable. Covid is wrecking immune systems.
Good to see Mark Foster on BBC talking about covid and Adam Peaty. Mark had covid two weeks ago with a headache etc & commented he felt short of breath whilst just walking so absolutely covid would’ve impacted Peaty’s performance.
The first person I’ve seen not play it down 👏🏼
Seeing a big spike in Covid cases in the hospital
This one looks more transmissible and may well cause major disruption in hospitals and care homes
Only a few with lung problems, but for most it’s still knocking the stuffing out of them.
Maybe time to think about boosters?
So my dads cancer is back. Had a scan over 4 weeks ago & results came yesterday. He sat alone with it for 24 hrs before he told anyone. He’s had SARS-CoV2 at least twice since his last op & is on immunotherapy. I think I’m the only one in the family that isn’t shocked.
I mean public health could just be honest about SARS-CoV2 spread, re-introduce masks in healthcare, tell people to ventilate buildings & wear a mask in public spaces for a start … would cut-down on ALL airborne disease. Just a thought.
My sister had RA diagnosis after covid infection. No prior health problems & no family history. She’s waiting for double hip replacement. Can’t walk & in constant pain. Mid-40s. Just a cold 😑
📢 The popular drag artist Themme Fatale has announced their retirement due to Long COVID:
“That’s all folks: Live, laugh, look out for each other during a mass disabling event.”
Are you for real?? You know it’s probably covid. You’ve said cases are rising. Encourage masking & you’d maybe stop more babies & kids dying from whooping cough & measles while you’re at it. Long Covid in kids doubled in a year. Despicable.

Is it a cold or hay fever? It can be hard to tell 🤧
Recent studies suggest that some types of pollen & other allergens could be released earlier in the year and for longer.
Of course I was the only person in the hospital (cardio appointment) in a decent mask 😑 Saw 4 more … 3 on staff (surgical), 1 on patient (cloth). A lot of work to be done.
I was also asked if I currently had a temp, new/continuous cough, D & V recently. Not likely in this.
The replies are pretty clear! Kids are ill … you can do whatever you want but if you don’t address covid in schools attendance will not improve. HEPAs, ventilation, respirators, isolating when ill protect against ALL airborne disease. Start now!
Up with chest infection, again, got it last year in Denver with ferocious U.S. air conditioning/temperature changes. French pharmacy staff were lovely helping with a bucket load of drugs yesterday but hard on a hot, absolutely crammed tube 4x a day. So excuse the crackly voice🤪
Never thought a letter like this would be cause to celebrate 🎉 but grateful to have a cardiologist who takes chest pain post-covid seriously. Bypassed an echo & straight to cardiac stress MRI (🤢). Microvascular angina not uncommon after covid & women in particular being missed.
My sister (40s) is in surgery now for a total hip replacement after covid infections caused her bones to simply crumble. I’m worried about her, especially as we’re in a covid wave, staff aren’t masking, hospitals are struggling & there’s a junior doctor strike at end of week.
There are people walking around the UK at the moment with their mild ‘colds’ who will wake up a few months down the line with new (often debilitating) health issues that will have no idea it’s a result of their current covid infection. Test. Test again. Isolate. Wear a 😷
While I talked about hospitalization in the previous tweet, I want to make it clear that most people with Long Covid had mild COVID-19.
In fact, 90% of people with Long Covid had mild
COVID-19.
I came away feeling listened to by a clinician who was up-to-date with covid. Very, very rare. I was so grateful I came home & immediately filled out the online feedback 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Update on my dad. He went in for immunotherapy Friday (hasn’t been anywhere since). No masks in hospitals (he refuses also - ‘if I needed to, doctors would’). Yesterday admitted after two falls, fever - now on IV antibiotics for pneumonia. On top of cancer. Beyond livid.
Saw a neighbour today I haven’t seen for months, asked how they were; ‘We’re ok … oh except my grandchild hasn’t been to school in 9 months due to a post-viral syndrome & I had a blood clot in my leg last week’
👀😑 Fine. Everything is fine.
Good grief. How many people in the UK are like this at the moment?

This has caught my family off guard too … if you’re someone who regularly suffers from hay fever you might not think to test but it’s prob covid atm. One of my sons thought he’d developed new onset hay fever, that was our cue to test.
People think this only happened to doctors working in 2020 and the risk has decreased now. Quite the opposite. It’s happening more NOW. How many doctors can afford to not work? Who’s going to pay the mortgage?! Mind-blowing they’re not protecting themselves & they trust the gov!
Around 1 in 50 people have Covid in England.
So how many politicians are trying to hide their infections? How many are still out canvassing and infected others, who may be more vulnerable, on the doorstep?

Cut out all processed foods (paleo), including no alcohol. Within 3 months was off antidepressants (which I’d been cycling on/off 15 yrs) & physical/mental transformation. I became more curious (& critical). Began yoga/meditation & morning sunlight. 8 yrs on now so sustainable.
1. As soon as I walked in was told ‘you don’t have anxiety, covid is causing havoc. Start from the beginning & tell me what’s been happening’. Good start!
So I thought my Covid IG stories were going ignored but over the last few weeks I’ve had people contact me saying; they’re now masking on planes, masking in healthcare, asking for other protections (which HEPAs to buy/nasal sprays) & even HCWs wearing FFP3s!

For those who don’t have access to the BMJ. It’s not really a Q is it? We know we’ve been in a summer wave since the start of June yet only now are doctors being told about it & recommendations being made. Masks in healthcare would’ve helped reduce this wave. How much LC to come?
