Peter Gabriel
I adore this artist. Seeing him perform recently in London was a dream come true.

Tears For Fears
The first band I loved. I LOVED. In my opinion there are only a few debut albums that rival The Hurting and the follow-up was genius. In heavy rotation still, formative for me.

The Chameleons
“But most of you are much to ill
Oh, way beyond a surgeons skill
In bondage to a dollar bill
What more can you buy, buy, buy”
Post punk with a dash of poetry… so many genius lyrics.

Depeche Mode
This band has been with me since very early on… one of the best concert experiences of my life (the Faith & Devotion Tour). They have impressed me with their latest (it continues to grow on me)

Inertia Creeps
Inertia Creeps was originally written by Massive Attack as a track for Manic Street Preachers’s Richey Edwards to sing.
MA used the MSP version to hang a sample of Turkish belly dancing music on.

Angel
Intended to be a cover of the Clash, ‘Straight to Hell.’ Horace Andy wouldn’t sing the word “hell.” MA improvised a new song taking the lyrics from Horace Andy’s, ‘You Are My Angel.’
My 7 year old neighbor, inspired by my paintings, did this and gave it to me last night. SEVEN. My heart exploded… I can’t even put into words how special this is to me.
My popular music takes: 1/2
1. Music is the great unifier.
2. There’s room on this site for every type of music lover.
3. Music opinions are like assholes, everybody has one… don’t sniff around the ones you don’t like.

Protection
Incredible vocals from Tracey Thorn.
Protection uses a sample from James Brown’s song ‘The Payback’ which is taken from his 1972 album of the same name. It is not credited officially by Massive Attack.
Two years ago I joined Twitter… I’d just lost my dad, and was in a job that made me forget my worth. I dove into music with the wonderful people I’ve met from this community and a marvelous thing happened… I remembered myself. You never know who’s life you might change.

Catherine Wheel
“A melding of drone-drenched shoegaze and heavy rock”… does it get more 90s than this? For me though it’s Rob Dickinson’s voice and lyrics spanning the emotional gamut that land this band at 15.
The Nude
Post your top 4 albums by your favourite band/artist?
Tom Waits has a fairly astonishing discography, with barely a misstep across 17 studio albums. A real Hall-of-Famer if ever there was one.

Nine Inch Nails
A love affair that started in the angst of my youth. Aggressive and fragile, industrial rock merges with electronic synth into a knot of distorted eloquence. You must see them live.

Safe From Harm
Featuring Shara Nelson’s vocals & built around a sample from the song ‘Stratus’ by Billy Cobham. (Link in Alt)
“I was looking back to see if you were looking back at me to see me looking back at you.”

Killing Joke
Constantly evolving their sound with the shifting sonic of 80s post punk acts, this band was a pioneer. A band I didn’t appreciate when I was young, and have as an adult found a real appreciation for.
