@BenjaminOCall
It's strange isn't it the Scottish flag and Welsh flag are to be celebrated but a union flag or especially an English flag are problematic.
David Frost, June 2015:
"When we get to the referendum, I hope it's a real debate about everything Europe offers. I would add the Single Market & single trade policy. It's probably a 5-8% GDP uplift.. There's a very clear benefit.. We'd begin to lose it if we weren't part of it"
@mikegalsworthy
The but Germany whatabouttery is such nonsense when I can point to specific aspects of Brexit that are affecting my life that simply would not be a problem if we we're still in the EU. Life is undoubtedly worse due to Brexit. That doesn't mean it'd all be rosy in EU. But better.

Lady in white, if they're so desperate why further risk their lives in small boats across the channel when they're perfectly safe in France?
@vivamjm
And Ben Habib blamed the Commonwealth for not "stepping up". Why the hell would they? They are sovereign nations who must act in their own best interests. They owe the UK nothing.

Freedom of movement is the ultimate tangible freedom that all everyday citizens can appreciate. Whether you use it or not, why would you not want it?
Why would you choose to be restricted in life?
@lunaperla
@anandMenon1
Being ruled by a quasi democratic gov in London or a quasi democratic gov in Bxl really makes no noticeable difference to my life.
Not having FoM does make a noticeable difference to my life.
No gov decision in my lifetime has ever had such a profound affect on citizen rights.
@Irr_Orbit
@LabourAlexB
The way to change that perception isn't to stop using it yourself. That just enhances it. Reclaim the flag. It is for everyone.

I think those that don't want FoM are the selfish ones. You don't want it fine but why are you so keen to deprive others?
@the3million
After the Irish free state broke away from the United Kingdom special status of British and Irish citizens in each others countries was maintained. The same should apply here to UK and all EU citizens.
@Jacobbe79601492
@mrjamesob
We were told we could be like Norway or Switzerland instead we ended up like Bosnia and Albania.
To "make Brexit work" we must join the single market.
What is Starmer so afraid of? It is the Brexit of Farage himself.
Sell it like that!
@sonofr
Committed to making something that can't work, work, something half the population never wanted, many who did want it have changed their minds or died. Not to mention those who have since come of age and also don't want it. Madness!
@SaveFOM
Brexit disproportionately affects Brits without the correct grandparents or Brits born in GB vs NI making us 2nd class citizens.
Asking for some mechanism to be treated the same is not exceptionalism, quite the opposite in fact.
@SaveFOM
Freedom of movement is the ultimate tangible freedom that all everyday citizens can appreciate. Tell me what Brexit freedom or new found "sovereignty" has made the life of the average Brit better since leaving EU?
Losing FoM has made us less free and more beholden to one govt.
@SaveFOM
All Brits born in Northern Ireland, not most, a 6 generational English couple from Surrey can go to NI for the birth of their child to ensure they have more rights than if they were born anywhere else in the United Kingdom. I will encourage this birth tourism in my family.
@SaveFOM
Quickest would be single market only then when the debate is less toxic we can discuss (and have a referendum) on fully rejoining but it would be on new member terms, there's no way we'd be able to rejoin on old terms. That is impossible.
@Don_LImmortale
@andrewhesselden
This is true but I think what Andrew is getting at is we were promised "no downside only considerable upside" so until this materialises Brexit is not done as sold. If it can't be done (which it can't) we must end the stupidity and seek to rejoin.
@Eyeswideopen69
I have a really bad feeling he's going to be made a Lord. It's absolutely astonishing they think he is the answer, he was an absolute failure as PM he should be nowhere near power again.
@EuropeanUnity1
Brexit was never supposed to win. He was supposed to lead Leave to a narrow loss and take over as PM. It was all about personal political gain for him.

I'm hoping someone asks him if NI is in an "incredibly privileged and unique position" why isn't this available to the rest of the UK?
But I'm sure anyone wanting to ask him that will also have been cancelled.

Anyway I can tell this is just going to go round in circles as it often does, we'll have to agree to disagree. I simply find 90/180 for a block of 29 countries punitive, whether I'm a member of the club or not.
@DavidGHFrost
@Telegraph
The question that I want to ask is who are you? I'd never heard of you no-one in the UK had ever heard of you. I would like to ask you, who voted for you? And what mechanism do the peoples of the UK have to remove you? Is this British democracy? Is this "sovereignty"?
@archer_rs
I'd happily pay a yearly fee. It could be an easy revenue generator for Brussels 16m remainers while some may be lucky and have the correct grandparents but assume not for €100 a year that's €1.6bn in easy money.
@EssexPR
You bleat on about 17m votes how many have died? How many regret? Not to mention an entire new cohort of voter who have come of age.
How long do you stick with something because it won the vote if the day? 13m voted for Blair in 1997 should we have never had an election again?
@dphole
@RichardBentall
I don't necessarily support the EU. I'm not a fan of big government at all, wherever they are located but I had more tangible personal freedom as an EU citizen.

No thought for the people of Gibraltar and what they want?
Gibraltar will not become part of Spain but it will likely join Schengen meaning British access to British territory is controlled by a foreign entity.
EU+ citizens will have greater rights to visit then Brits.

I have heard of recruiters at university careers fairs ask British students if they have an EU passport or if they are able to get one. It's almost another qualification in itself and one purely down to luck. This is discrimination amongst Brits based on their grandparents.

The tax affairs of other countries is their business. You can't ban tax havens. If they choose to be tax friendly that is their prerogative.

Having friends and family in 5 different Schengen countries. You're limited to 90/180 for all the countries combined. Countries offer long stay visas (e.g. PT D7, ES NLV) but 90/180 applies to the other 28. No country offers a short stay visa for use after you've used your 90/180

Yes I think a number of the blue wall remain voting constituencies in the home counties would have voted Lib Dem had the fear of Corbyn not been greater than the fear of Brexit.

Brexit effectively created 2 tiers of British citizen. Those with the correct grandparents (or born in NI) and those not. Some are far more affected than others.
Farage's kids are in tier 1.

When Ireland left the United Kingdom the rights of individual citizens in both directions were fully respected, protected and maintained as a priority and are still to this day.
The same should apply to UK and EU citizens at large.
