Stupid fucking woman on radio phone in: "I don't care about the consequences of Brexit. I don't care what happens. I just want to Leave. That's what we voted for". Selfish and ignorant. Lord help the UK if there are more like her.
I note that BBC News is making it sound as if it was responsible for discovering the dodgy PPE procurement scandal: "as the BBC revealed", "as the BBC reported". Not a mention of
@JolyonMaugham
and
@GoodLawProject
who did all the investigating!
Masked spokesman for New IRA threatening attacks on any border infrastructure. Channel 4 News now. God, Cameron, Farage and Johnson - I hate you for Brexit.
I know many Brits love and are protective of the HOC and ancient parliamentary traditions, but I really feel the UK's parliamentary decision-making should be updated and take place in a large room in a modern building where everyone just presses a button to record their vote....
It's not something I would normally do, but at the next UK general election I plan to stay up all night and watch the results coming in, and revel in every thick, loud-mouthed Tory twit that loses their seat. Bring it on!
@andreajenkyns
Isn't this you, hon, after your Beloved Boris resigned in disgrace? 🤔
Showing hatred, intolerance and contempt for those with a different view?
On this day in 2014, I married my soul mate, David Eade. He died, suddenly & unexpectedly, 4 months later. He would have loathed Brexit with every fibre of his being, as I do, and it will be happening on his birthday. So much has changed in 6 years, and NONE of it for the better.
On the day the Spanish government announces 0 Covid-19 deaths in the past 24 hours, I take the dog out and pass several people out for a walk, cheerfully wearing masks and social distancing (although masks are only obligatory under 2m distance), and I look at UK & want to weep...
Er....Gibraltar does. You remember Gibraltar, the British Overseas Territory? The one that had a strong, early lockdown, no deaths and is now on its 7th consecutive day with zero active coronavirus cases? Yes, THAT Gibraltar...
Masks are compulsory in Spain from today & there's a certain satisfaction seeing belligerent "nobody's going to make ME wear a mask" Brits, who refused free ones from the council weeks ago, now panicking and demanding "But where can I get masks from"?!
Update on the Brits in my Spanish village who recently discovered crime & vandalism exist here: they've decided they're being targeted because they're foreign and are still talking about wanting a meeting with the mayor. However, they don't speak Spanish so need someone to /1
@SusanMusciacch1
Yeh! They're still waiting for their asylum claims to be processed - how DARE they have more clothes than the outfit they arrived in months ago?? Disgusting!!! And a case to carry their clothes and possessions - WHICH THEY HAVE NO RIGHT TO POSSESS 🤬🤬🤬??
You pathetic bigot 🙄
@iainmartin1
Masks are compulsory all the time in Andalucía and guess what? We shop, eat out, travel from one place to another and people are coming here on holiday. In other words, life goes on as usual wearing a mask. Maybe it's just a case of being grown up in attitude and not a wuss?
It's so lovely to sip early morning coffee & catch up with Twitter without the usual knot of anger & worry forming in my stomach. I don't think we really realised the stress we've been placed under for years now. We can just chuckle at a few media twats. Happy Sunday, everyone 😃
A friend has been admitted to hospital and is isolated and on oxygen for suspected Covid pneumonia. Her husband has just tested positive for the virus. Anti-maskers and conspiracy theorists, don't even THINK about coming near my timeline today.....
Conservative being interviewed by BBC blames the media and "Remainers wanting revenge" for the parties scandal in Downing Street. Lord, give me strength...🤦🤦🤦
I'm having breakfast in a restaurant in Málaga airport and some tables are served by a robot. When it has finished its little speech it says "Byee"...and everyone so far has said goodbye back to it 🤣🤣🤣
My cat has died this morning. She was 11, had a wonderfully happy life, was only ill 1 night, and died at home, on the sofa with me stroking her. Normally, though sad, those facts would help me feel more philosophical. I think 6 weeks in strict lockdown is taking its toll on me..
is very indignant because she sometimes comes here for weekends, "spending money in the shops (of which there aren't many) and supporting the local bars", and she says scratching her car "is a very nice way to say thank you!!!"
Lord help the rest of us....🤦😏
I get SO annoyed at British people who have lived in Spain for years and make no attempt to learn the language. They end up permanently bemused, not knowing what's going on and obtaining incorrect 'info' from others of the same type in FB groups for local foreigners. Aargh!!!
Apart from the grammar failure referred to here, something else is bothering me. I'm a British citizen by birth and have no allegiance to the king & his heirs or successors whatsoever, so I don't see why those applying for citizenship should have to swear that they do!
@Mike_Fabricant
As a British citizen living in an EU Schengen country (Spain), I just flew to Hungary, travelled to Austria by train, flew back to Spain and didn't show my passport once. And I rejoiced in the fact that I didn't have to wait in queues or get a stamp. I know which I prefer.
@PippaCrerar
@Steven_Swinford
Paid for by a Tory donor...just think how much good in the world £150k could do, how many people could benefit from a bit of help. But no, a treehouse for Wilf is considered a worthy cause 😐 I wonder what the Tory donor was due to receive in return...
Know what? I'm a strong, capable person. People sometimes say "I don't know how she copes". But today I woke up, read the news and cried. I'm struggling. So am sending a HUGE HUG for all of you who are struggling as well. These are awful times and we feel helpless. Let's be kind.
32 years ago today, I moved to Spain from UK. I have spent just over half my life here. WOW!!
There have been some very difficult times, but it was a decision I have never regretted. This is still where I want to be, and I'm grateful.
@danielmgmoylan
Here's an idea: why don't we just sterilise all males at puberty and leave it to 'democracy' to decide which ones can have the procedure reversed, and for what reason, and when?
Cooeee....here in Spain we have more restrictions in
#coronavirus
#lockdown
, are now in Day 11 and have 19 days (if no extension) until our 'Liberty' is restored to us. And you know what? We're f*****g delighted our government is keeping us safe from dying from the virus!
Alexander Johnson places Britain under house arrest. There is no outrage . Here, appearing among us, is the Abolition of Liberty which I have so long warned against.,
For personal reasons, I really struggle at Christmas; have just closed the Casa de la Memoria early and gone into hermit mode until Tuesday.
Focusing on small things, so I have to say that sitting on the terrace in the sun with a glass of wine on 24 December is very pleasant 🙂
write an email to him for them. They're cross that he hasn't responded to their comments on their foreigners' FB group, which they think he should be monitoring permanently in case they want something (even though it's unofficial & all in English, which he doesn't speak) /2
Just idle speculation, but the general assumption seems to be that IF Johnson's WhatsApp messages were deliberately 'lost' it was done to hide the Covid chaos, but perhaps there could have been other messages/interactions that could have proven damaging if revealed...? 🤔
so they are making very rude comments about him and slagging him off, saying he's useless and needs a rocket up his backside. All of which bodes very well for a meeting they are demanding regarding something he can do nothing about 🤣
And one woman whose car was scratched /3
The only murmurations of starlings I have seen were from the balcony of an apartment in which I was staying in Rome, with a view over churches and rooftops. It was so beautiful. I cried happy tears ❤️
BBC Panorama on Brexit: Hairdresser in Wales, always voted Labour, now 100% Conservative: "Oh yes, Boris lies. But he's human. And he's always true to his word".
What the absolute fuck???? How can he be true to his word when he fucking lies???
I despair....
Happy, Happy Re-Enfranchisement Day to the 3 million of us who were denied a vote in the EU referendum (which included nearly two-thirds of us in EU27!). I will be overjoyed to vote to Get The Tories Out 😃👍👏👏👏
@Billjfindlay1
Many foreigners here do speak Spanish and have integrated - especially the real 'old-timers' who came in the 70s - and some newcomers are taking lessons and trying to. But there is also a solid core of those who have never bothered and expect everything to be done for them 🫤

out, stopped by Guardia Civil 120m up the road. Had to show ID & proof of address. They sent me back, said we can only walk dogs within 50m of our homes. Luckily they didn't fine me. The decree says we can walk dogs 'close to home'. It means 50 metres!!
@LizWebsterSBF
I am getting so tired of having to point out that these rules can be applied at any external Schengen border to any non-EU nationals. It would be helpful if you would too, instead of just tweeting these articles uncritically.
I thought Brexit wouldn't happen because it was ridiculous, thought Trump wouldn't be president because that would be ridiculous, thought Johnson would never be PM because the mere idea was ridiculous. And now along trots Truss, raising ridiculous to a whole new level. Why?! 😩
Good morning, Twitter friends 🌞
Today is my last ever day at work and I feel as excited as a child at Christmas 🤣
I officially retire later in the month but am taking a short holiday first, so YAY, Happy, Happy Day!!! 🥳🥳🥳
The best telly interview I’ve done for ages telling
@THEJamesWhale
Unleashed on
@TalkTV
why if Labour wins the next election I’m heading for Spain or Dubai on a permanent basis.
Oh LOOK, 1.24 million British citizens exercising your legal, freely-given right to live and work in another EU country (780,000 of whom were deliberately denied a referendum vote). Look what I found:
#BrexitLies
Wandering through Brussels today I saw these Stolpersteine in the pavement outside houses which were the homes of Jewish people killed by the Nazis. In this street, most were in Auschwitz. Even though you know the history, it stops you in your tracks. As it should.

As someone whose father served 12 years in the RN, including on the previous HMS Bulwark, and then many years in the RNR, I find Posturing Penny Pugwash somewhat offensive 😠
It doesn’t get better for a Portsmouth MP. Honoured to have been asked to address the

@BorisJohnson
@ZelenskyyUa
You don't seem to have publicised this so much, so in case you're too caught up in the 10 Downing Street publicity campaign, a gentle reminder:
@William09733378
Was your friend an illegal immigrant in Spain, then? Because those of us who lived here legally have been allowed to continue doing so after Brexit with no problems. The EU must, after all, protect its borders from undesirables too, don't you think?
Imagine there was no referendum and we had all carried on our normal lives in recent years. If someone made a Brexit film or wrote a Brexit book everyone would say it was too far-fetched to be believable. So why the F**K is it happening in real life???
This is the prime minister of Spain. Visiting an exhibition of art by women artists, regretting that their genius has rarely been recognised in the past and confirming his commitment to equality in modern times. Look how he relates to people - what a difference from Rishi Sunak.

I have registered (well, applied to be included as a registered voter). It was simple. Gave last address in UK (postcode needed but there's a link to find it), passport details and National Insurance number.
Do join me.....😉
Happy, Happy Re-Enfranchisement Day to the 3 million of us who were denied a vote in the EU referendum (which included nearly two-thirds of us in EU27!). I will be overjoyed to vote to Get The Tories Out 😃👍👏👏👏
As thousands of Spanish cross- border workers march in La Línea, the town with the

border, to protest at
#Brexit
, the band plays the

anthem as they enter the main square. I'm in tears.
@simonmedhurst
@PennyMordaunt
She lied. Armed Forces Minister
@PennyMordaunt
said twice on live TV that Britain had no veto over Turkey joining the EU. An outright lie. Why would she do that? And would anyone trust her after that, LOL?!
I'm blocking anti-vaxers, anti-lockdowners and Covid deniers on sight, so just don't bother, OK? 🙂 And tomorrow I'm going for my flu & Covid jabs, and am very happy about that!
Masks are now compulsory in the
#Andaluc
ía region of Spain even when social distancing can be maintained, following approval of the measure this a.m.
Tourists please note: they intend to enforce it strictly and fine anyone who doesn't comply.
I'm not seeing tweets from a lot of people I like any more. Having to go and look for them to see if they're OK and still tweeting. Is that a new Twitter thing? 🤷
@DanClarkEsq
Not quite all train journeys. The measure is to help regular travellers with cost-of-living increases and you have to leave a 10 or 20€ deposit, so it's only free if you use the trains a lot. But I agree, Spain gov is really trying to help people (I live here & am so glad!)
Amazing how many 0 or low follower accounts dating back to 2013 have suddenly appeared, to try to make people think UK coronavirus deaths are minimal or that Spain's government has behaved recklessly re lockdown....
Good grief,
@KemiBadenoch
😖
You are trivialising the absolutely shameful behaviour of the prime minister at PMQ with this attempt at political point-scoring...
Disgraceful. What on earth is wrong with you people?
Every murder is a tragedy. None should be trivialised by political point-scoring. As a mother, I can imagine the trauma that Esther Ghey has endured.
It was shameful of Starmer to link his own inability to be clear on the matter of sex and gender directly to her grief. (1/2)
I moved into this Spanish village house 19 years ago. Every evening a neighbour sets a chair outside and smokes a large, pungent cigar whose smoke wafts through my balcony doors. He's 83 now. I never want this fragrant invasion of my space to end. It's part of me being home ❤️
In southern Spain, where I live, the number of people allowed on beaches at a time is limited even though our State of Alarm is over, and when that capacity is reached the beaches are closed and nobody else is allowed on until there is space again.
Just saying...
@PaulOnBooks
You might find this helpful. Do you think a place like that would charge £11.50 for a whole bottle of gin? And that was the total for each type of wine, not per bottle. I don't like this any more than you do, but we don't need to exaggerate.
Reached Santiago de Compostela and, today, I also reached the date when I could declare myself Officially Retired. So I did! 😃
I had also forgotten that if you ask for a glass of wine with your Menu of the Day, they leave you the bottle. So, double YAY!!! 🤣
@JamesMelville
Ironic too that Brexiters who think it was perfectly ok for 780,000 British people in EU27 to be denied a vote in a referendum which is forcibly removing their rights, but are OUTRAGED at having to pay a few quid extra to go on holiday to any of those 27 countries....
@evanoconnell
@jessphillips
@MarkDiStef
The constituency he is standing for is SW England+ Gibraltar. It pains me that this was filmed while he was in Gib last week. It fills me with joy that the people of Gibraltar rejected him big time, though - just 27 people attended his rally, inc his team + the media. Sensible!
Since the pandemic began my adult stepson (autistic) has been too scared to leave the village. Today, we went to Gibraltar. He wandered down Main St alone, bought a DVD, we had lunch and he said "I've got the buzz back about going places again! It feels so good!"
Bit by bit...♥️
Spain has approved a law to regulate & protect those working from home. It must not incur costs for the workers, they have the same rights as those working on-site, have the right to switch off outside agreed working hours, + more.
Well done, Spain.
Looking at you now, UK....
@winfamb
@jonworth
I know a couple who have just left Spain in a motorhome, with their dog, to spend Xmas and New Year in UK. They think they can just drive back in January. They have no idea that the dog is going to make that impossible because of all the time-consuming paperwork needed.
It's my 10th wedding anniversary today. And in mid-June I will have been a widow for 10 years, due to
#sepsis
. Happy memories of 24/01/2014, of course...but bittersweet...🫤❤️
We've a new report: the Post Office claimed £934m tax relief for its compensation payments to the postmasters it persecuted. That's outrageous. It's also unlawful - so the Post Office now faces an unexpected £100m tax bill. It may be insolvent.
I'll be away on 4 July, with no TV or radio, but plan to stay up ALL NIGHT and follow the results on social media 😃
There will be a fridge. There will be cava inside 😉
@campbellclaret
I love the way she just grabs it, no explanation or "sorry, prime minister, I'll just take that for you" 🤣 Sheer horror that he was still holding on to it!
@teds302
@ParisDaguerre
What better moment for two women to show solidarity and share their sorrow with a handclasp, not only for those who were killed but the women in their lives who lost them? Sisterhood transcends ridiculous and contrived formality and 'protocol' - or it should, definitely.
Yesterday a neighbour rushed out of her house sobbing & screaming. Others went to her. I couldn't hear what was happening. I now know she had just been told her husband had hanged himself. He always seemed cheery & friendly. We never know about others' lives. So, let's be kind.
@AndyGJBurge
In the mid- 1970s, my husband and I lived in a subsidised 'key workers' flat in a New Town. I wrote to the housing people about something. They replied in a letter to my husband, which began "Dear Mr H, thank you for your wife's letter"...
@PolitlcsUK
What the fuck do you mean, saying "illegal migrants"??? Are you trying to exacerbate the situation, moron? There are people there, waiting for their applications to stay to be processed - that's NOT illegal. If people die at the hands of these racists, you'll share the blame!
@JohnLewisEU
Penny Mordaunt, who lied to the British people on TV when she was the Armed Services Minister, just before the referendum, saying Britain had no veto to stop Turkey joining the EU? It would be one liar prime minister following another. Great 🙄
This video illustrates the "levante" phenomenon on the Rock of Gibraltar. The "levante" is an east wind carrying moisture from the Mediterranean. When it encounters the rock's steep terrain, it rises, cools, and condenses, creating clouds, mist, and fog.

British woman in my Spanish village told me there was no reason for her to learn Spanish because "if they want me to live here it's up to them to learn my language" & "how can I be expected to learn Spanish anyway, when it's nothing like English?".
She went back to UK, thank God.
Another ridiculous article - not only is 90/180 not a new rule nor one that has recently been modified, but Brits who spent 'extended stays' of more than 90 days in their holiday homes pre-Brexit were breaking the law!!
#Brexit
- Brits 'abandon' Tenerife holiday homes due to Brexit 90/180-day rule - however, this is not a NEW rule
"I know at least 4 people who sold their houses over here - It's also affected staffing. British bars on the island are screaming for staff"
