Risc0 being close source is literally the reason why Succinct Labs created Sp1 themselves. Ironically close source invoked stronger competitors to thrive which pushed the industry forward. Fortunately I have more backends to use.

I have been telling portfolio companies NOT to open-source any code because “backed by” will copy. It is crucial that RISC Zero recursion circuit remains only half-open-sourced so that “backed by” doesn’t have recursion.

This is because based rollup don't have a centralized sequencer to tightly pack/filter Txs, theoretically an L2 block is profitable only if it's large enough to incentivize a decentralized proposer to propose and extract mev. But currently our blocks are not that large, and

When sync composability comes into play, the builder builds cross-chain bundles in an orderly manner if not entirely atomic. In the case below with [Tx1, Tx2, Tx3], Tx2 has to happen in the middle, which implies that the builder has to have an exclusive write lock on both L1 and

imo people must be aware that "building" and "validating" are two different things. They even carry a conflict of interest in value distributions. If you're not aware of that, your mental model of economics is wrong.

Some people expect L1 validators to build blocks for based rollups. L1 validators almost never even build the blocks for L1.

For "roll up", we have the freedom to add custom opcodes to L2 -- specifically the L1_CALL proposed by @Brechtpd in his Booster Rollup design: We will carry out L1 execution with L2 block space, and states/code/liquidity can remain on L1, which helps

@fede_intern I agree, EF wants to accrue technology & monetization back to ETH (). ETH's rollup-centric roadmap serves for itself, and ppl buy-in for so-called "alignment," not knowing that much of their own profitable margin just got swallowed. It’s kinda communism lol

Pov: if you use L1 DA as ur DA + L1 sequencer ur sequencer, then you're just lending ur computation resource to L1 to build blocks in blob space? @Brechtpd Based Rollup needs better monetization🤯

3/ I'm pro based rollup but I think we should approach with caution. Based rollup makes 100% sense in a technical aspect, but we do have all these shit coming out of legacy design choices. The greatest force of decentralization on Ethereum is the validators, and let's not forget

@tkstanczak Taiko's upcoming A6 testnet is going to support 4844 but it's going to be turned off. We'll probably enable it once it's live on Holesky. And for mainnet, the current plan is to launch with 4844 live already

This is where based preconfirmation () comes into place - if the L1 & L2 sequences are interdependent, then builders must obtain an execution preconfirmation from certain providers.
