Extremely devastated for all of my sweet Cartoon Network friends who were only trying to make beautiful and hilarious stories and share them with the world. I spent last night watching their shows and my own before they disappear. This can't be the way.
ha ha, real funny and ironic that i have to pirate my own show i worked on in order to screenshot stuff on it to make free promotional posts on twitter bc hbomax disabled screenshots bc of piracy haha super funny
only on Regular Show was it possible to pitch a scene where a she hulk shotputs a boulder into the sky and totally kills a guy and have it pass through unscathed
I've barely worked anywhere else in my 13 years in animation. I learned everything I know from working on Regular Show and Close Enough. CN feels like home. I'm just so unbelievably bummed out.
@Entropicious
A bunch of CN shows, like Uncle Grandpa, Infinity Train, OK KO, The Fungies, Tig and Seek, Summer Camp Island, and Victor and Valentino are being taken off HBOMax this week.
Let it be known that if you are a POC creator in the studio system and you have any modicum of insecurity about being a weird culture halfling growing up, it will be multiplied ONE THOUSAND FOLD if you go into development and you make a show based on your own experiences.
as one of the last people roaming around CN like a ghost right now before it's inevitable close, this goofy video hit hard. Totally forgot about the etch a sketch wall! I walk by that Cowboy Bebop drawing once a week and had NO IDEA that it was drawn by the actual creator haha
The Roundtable: Goodbye, Cartoon Network Studios Building: As Cartoon Network Studios' operations are merging with Warner Bros. Animation, CNS will move out their current studio, but should the building be preserved in some way as a tribute to animation?
@Radrappy
@PIX3LP3T
hell yeah, unless im doing to my friends house with a dvd player that plays avi files, it'll take a sweet ride in one of these babies
really sad state of affairs when you have to explain to people that animation is about ARTISTRY, INTENT and CHOICES, and not slapping a vampire hunter d rotoscope over live footage of people screaming at each other
hey Cartoon Network visitors over the years. have you ever taken a photo like this tagging in the Cartoon Network Studios stairwell? please share, im doing a thing!!
in the mid to late 2000s, a bunch of us struggling artists would go to SF Japantown like once a month and draw and hang out all day. we've all gone on to make tv and cartoons and videogames and all sorts of things. support Japantown!!!
11 years!!! No wonder people have been going nuts over Regular Show memes right now. If I had never gotten the chance to work on Regular Show back in 2009, I'd probably still be an IT guy in Santa Clara. Forever grateful of my time on it 🙏
watching it again it's so incredible how masterfully this sets up all the relationships in the entire story. this is within the first 10 minutes maybe? so good
When I directed this episode, I was thinking a lot about
@rebeccasugar
's old comic "Don't Cry For Me, I'm Already Dead" where a couple of emotionally stunted men can only talk to each other in quotes from The Simpsons.
It's very sad that the world is sleeping on CLOSE ENOUGH, the new show from the REGULAR SHOW team.
There's an entire episode about a talking dog who was raised only on Jim Carrey movies: THE CANINE GUY.
Forever ago we met James Hong when he did a voice on Regular Show. we were in awe. I can't believe he did part of his SAG award speech in CANTONESE I'm so happy he's having his moment!
For FILE SIZE, there's a similar thing I recently learned from Toonboom themselves at a learning seminar. If you go to File>Project Management>Extract and select ALL scenes then extract, it will create a new file and like this trick will pull over only your panels/notes
oh yeah how do we market a show with incredibly cute bears based off an incredibly popular ip that the crew makes with all their heart everyday what a conundrum worthy of hercule poirot
David Zaslav on the performance of kids' programming on Max:
"We haven't really been able to crack the kids. We have a huge amount of kids content. We're going to attack that. We think that really differentiates us and we're going to have to really promote it. We haven't been."
netflix has done a lot of awful things to the animation industry lately but setting this terrible precedent has got to be the most vile and evil thing theyve done. so many projects cancelled in the last 6 months, many hopes and dreams. go to hell netflix.
Every question from the network becomes a micro aggression that eats away at your soul. there inevitably is the conversation, hey, can you make it more "x or y culture" as if it's as easy as adjusting a fader or something
guess what, i answered, "fuck yeah, YES!" bc Panda Express is delicious, and the Chinese American CEO of Panda Express embraced americaness and knew real chinese food wouldn't be popular here, so she changed the flavors. in a weird way that started me accepting my identity too
I remember even the question "hey do you want to have Panda Express for your wrap party" was a question that i felt like I had to answer correctly or I'd fail all Chinese people everywhere.

It’s true, Close Enough is ending after 3 seasons. I feel fortunate to have worked on this project with so many talented people. Thank you to everyone that helped bring it to life, and to everyone who watched!
On July 18, 2023, the Cartoon Network community of past/present employees came together to say goodbye to the building. The corner of Palm Ave and Third St will always hold a special place in our hearts. The old building may be shutting down, but our creative spirit lives on!
Season 2 of Close Enough premieres tomorrow!! I've been very vocal about how this season was a total dream to work on, and most of that was thanks to an excellent crew! big ups especially to

2021 was quite a year for me!
- Did freelance for Netflix
- Premiered Season 2 of Close Enough
- Produced Season 3 of Close Enough
- Met some amazing actors I've idolized my entire life over zoom
- Ended the year showrunning We Baby Bears (!!!)
-Didn't cut hair even once
I remember when the crews of RS and AT used to gather around the tvs after work and used to watch LOST together. LOST!!!!!!!! that's how long this building has been important to me.
iirc this episode did get a big S&P hit-- that the ashes muscle man was carrying around couldn't be human remains. so that's why it's his "dad's hat ashes." which made it way dumber and funnier
throwback to the one time i was able to score tickets to Conan and i ended up on their “fashion assassin” bit where brian stack called me “metallica’s math tutor.” btw lars is still really bad at fractions
