As I said before, the world will be Indianized and Africanized to a large degree this century. I don’t see this as a scenario of India being a massive disaster case or a wretched country. Emigration peaks for most countries around the 3K to 10k per capita income zone, India

India feels like it's at a point of reckoning. I've seen a surge of people DM me asking about US immigration. Young citizens are losing faith in the country as police, government, infrastructure and judiciary constantly fail.

Seeing how many African intellectuals are so invested in this conflict from a pro western angle, the overt emotionalism they feel, I cannot see how Africa can become a force in this world. You cannot modernize with an elite that has a subaltern complex. I pray this changes.

Say whatever you want about these men. Love them, hate them. But they’ve all defined their countries generationally in a way that politicians of a prior era wouldn’t have even thought to imagine. This is what being a generational political talent looks like.

What defines NGMI status? Simple, the inability of the country to reach its own expectations + lofty goals over the next two generation. Sure Germany will be a rich society even in 2060, but its citizens won't be as hyped as Kenyans or Indians or Indonesians in that year

If France had opted for mass Chinese and Vietnamese immigration rather than Malian and Algerian would it’s streets be on fire? Before you get angry at me for asking this question, be aware that states from the UAE to Malaysia have all asked this question and are answering it.

Ethiopia and Liberia both like to tout that they were never colonized, but yet both in 2022 are poorer than most of the continent and still have plenty of ethnic feuds. Both have their own local imperialism they never bothered to sort out. A lesson to other Africans in that.

"Over the past five years, only three of the 54 African economies have grown at an annual rate of more than 6 per cent: Ethiopia, Benin and Rwanda... Not a single African economy has seen a transformative gain in average per capita income.... Africa is adding workers but not

The country that I am most disappointed with in Africa is Equatorial Guinea, only 1.4 million people and endless barrels of oil. Malabo should be Africa's Dubai, there should be tons of flights daily between Lagos and Malabo. Instead abject poverty and just insane kleptocracy.

Popular political and economic views of the 2000 that now look dumb, - China was just destined to be a massive assembly line, because it wasn’t democratic it could never be innovative lmao. India was actually China’s real peer competitor, not the US. - The EU was destined to

I remember the prevailing view was that India would move up the value chain and would do the hard hitting R&D/services and China would continue to do assembly work. I know we mock this but to be fair, this view was due to Western firms outsourcing R&D to India back in the 2000s.

I seriously can't believe there's somehow a Chinese businessman in Somalia with a harem and a seemingly thriving business, this is truly going to be a very very weird century.

Chinese Douyin is more sanitized than Western Tik Tok in many ways but in others it is completely mad. One of the more popular accounts is a middle aged Beijing man living in Somalia with a literal harem of Kushitic beauties who apparently made his fortune as an arms dealer.

The biggest sign you’re a developing country is when western ambassadors to your country are local celebrities. It’s embarrassing. In normal countries, no one knows the name of any ambassador. Meanwhile any Karen or Bob diplomat can step in Africa and feel like a god.

I honestly need African presidents to just start expressing no comment to this question when asked. Ruto has far more immediate priorities, and while this may be a culture war issue in America it’s not a salient issue to most Kenyans. Just ignore their media baiting.

Gay sex is illegal in Kenya and President-elect @WilliamsRuto previously said “we have no room for gays.” Ruto tells me “we respect everybody,” but adds “this is not a big issue for the people of Kenya” and President Kenyatta was “spot on” to say homosexuality “is not agreeable.”

Clara is quite a well known operator in the space, so I don’t take her accusations here lightly. If . @theflutterwave behaved in this manner, it is a giant black mark on the African tech landscape and raises questions on founder accountability and standards in this space.

I’m entranced by geopolitics because I’m entranced by time and space. How spaces are transformed over the span of a fragile human life. My grandmother died today and I’m just stunned at how the Togo she knew 94 years ago; the people, the places, and behaviors no longer exists.

Post Nigerian election I'm even more convinced that African countries will never economically reach their potential under democracy. African elections mostly encourage ethnic balkanization, completely illegal electoral practices, and often lead to the worst candidates winning.

I truly think Africa has a lot of serial killers or a far greater rate than reported, but because most police departments suck on the continent they’re just out there getting away with frequent murder. Wouldn’t be surprised if some are linked to organ trafficking schemes.
