Feeling pretty happy tonight. Worked my tail off for 5 years to buy my family’s land and put a vacation/hunting cabin on it. Hunted a beautiful night, walked on my own dirt, back to my own house to watch my first football games. Darn good feeling.
13 hours to a state I’ve never hunted, public land, DIY. Hunted 5 days, dawn to dusk, hiked 9-10 miles a day. Saw 50-60 deer, 15 bucks, 3 nice ones…and put a monster to bed last night. He never showed. This guy stepped out at 350 yds and time was up. 3 hour cut n pack out.
I wrote a bucket list in 2016. Killing a bull elk with my bow was

. Tonight I accomplished that dream. 61 yards, quartering away, entry and exit! Hard work and preparation met opportunity.

I'm sorry for your misery but I kind of chuckle watching Canada's dumpster fire. Listened to Canadians mock us for four years, said it was like living in an apartment above a meth lab. What your government has done is a tyrannical disgrace.

I'd pay my mortgage on a credit card if I could. Small suggestion...use 1 card for all your autopays and lock it in a safe at home. Use another for your daily use that you can transfer the points from. If your wallet/purse is lost or stolen you don't have to cancel and call.

It's so embarrassing being a Michigan football fan. The weird things we celebrate, like a punter. We are the laughing stock of college football. I wish we'd hire some no name coach with no expectations. Our record would be the same but maybe people would stop mocking us
Got in the stand at 2:00, walked up on me at 2:10 right as I was putting my release on. Nose to the ground, stopped him at 33 yards. Thankful for an incredible hunt and a full freezer.
Countless hours at the range and gym, a lifetime of learned skills, the best shot I’ve ever made, but still the best part will always be serving backstraps to my family for Christmas.

Killed a doe tonight on my uncle Doug's plot. Property that was his, that now belongs to me. Picked her up in his tractor just like he used to do, a little overkill if you ask me. This pic was captured the night before he died last year, doing what he loved. Miss him a lot. 1/2
We worked our tails off, 4 days of grinding and hiking mountains. We passed on 30 different bucks but knew this was the one we wanted. Chased him for 3 days and he finally made a mistake. Incredible day.

Confession…I’m 43 and never changed the oil on anything in my life. Figured it’s time to grow up. Changed the oil and filter on my ATV and lawn tractor today. The ATV took an embarrassing amount of time. Got it figured out and should take 1/4 of the time on the next one.
November 15th, opening day of Michigan’s gun season. It’s a state holiday. Passed this guy at 15 yards. They don’t make 3.5 if you shoot them at 2.5.

Most people know the Two Hearted river for Hemingway and a beer named after it. For us it's bear camp. Trip of a lifetime. My boar should go 400 lbs. All the credit goes to the dogs. Plotts and Walkers that are tough as tire irons.

Closed on a lifelong dream yesterday. I’ve never wanted to be filthy rich. Growing up I always thought if I had a little place in the woods to call home I’d won the lottery. Waiting for snow out to get it on the property.

My kids always wonder why he likes me the best. When you lead someone to unlock their full potential and allow their full genetic makeup to shine it creates a spectacular bond. Lesson in there somewhere.
I’ve been hunting my tail off for 3 weeks and haven’t seen a 3.5+ year old buck even once at a distance. Then I get pictures of this guy outside the fence at work in between a federal building and a golf course. I’m done lol.

The sheriff is 200 lbs overweight and will soon be a diabetic if he isn't already. The health department official is 100 lbs overweight. They're worried about other people's health? GFY
I’ve left Wyoming, sad to think I won’t be back for a little while. I’m out of points for now. The last three years have been very good to me. I can’t encourage you enough, if you’re tired of sitting in a cold tree stand buy your points and get out west, you won’t regret it.
Battle tested survivor. So much respect for these animals. Four months of hunting season followed by four months of winter starvation. Hope to see him in October.
I was able to finally get trail cam pics of the bear I killed. These were taken 45 minutes before we found the track and dropped dogs. Magnificent animal, a true ghost of the forest.

My uncle had a devastating heart attack today. He's been put on palliative care and painkillers. Doctors say there is nothing they can do. His son is on the road, praying that he makes it in time to say goodbye. He'll be running hounds in a better place soon.
I've been hiking and hunting these sandy hills my whole life. Today I closed and purchased them for myself. Securing generations 6 and 7 to own dirt in Oceana County. As Doug Duren says, "It's not ours, just our turn."
I'm self admittedly the worst turkey hunter ever. After 3 years of trying I still haven't fired a round. I kill deer with ease with my bow but these ninjas have got the best of me. Maybe this will be my year.

Steve Irwin knew his way around animals too. Just stupid to endanger an infant like that. One misstep and liver gets severed, skull crushed.
Finally got my Pronghorn hung up. I think the Skull Hooker shoulder mount was a fantastic option. Provides relief against the wall and allows you to change the angle to best fit your room.

Get rid of government controlled and sponsored student loans. Treat credit cards like homes…verified lending, bank statements, income minimums. Kids are $100-200k behind before they hit the ground running.
Stocks, bonds, mutual funds, gold sure, both nothing gets me more excited than investing in trees. Leave the land better than you found it.

My grandma passed away today, my mom had major back surgery today, works been rough, my back hurts, I'm tired...and then I find out our 10 year old next door neighbor died this morning from a failed liver transplant. Perspective, be kind, someone around you is having a worse day
Six straight days of sitting in a treestand. This is the point that you start seeing things and phasing out. Have seen at least 12 different bucks, just all quite small. Had one shooter at absolute last light, could barely tell what it was.
I take back everything negative I said about this guys hoodie and shorts. Only politician preaching things that make sense lately. Didn’t see this coming?
Passed this guy at 20 yds this morning. Full on sprint chase and he stopped dead in his tracks in front of me. Hoping his right side develops next year.
Some people like to travel to big cities with exquisite food…I like to travel to places where I can drive for 45 minutes and see one other car. Grateful for another sunrise.
Map of Michigan in 1822. I can read the names of the rivers and bays and daydream for hours. So many I haven’t been to yet. The area my family settled in on the west side is labeled as an Indian Village. Going to do some research
Today I accomplished a lifelong bucket list goal. Secured the last piece of my families land for at least one more generation. Planting seeds for my children's future. It's not ours, just our turn.

3 years of hunting elk and I don't have anything in the freezer to show for it. I'm proud of the work I've put in, I've learned a ton and made some amazing friendships along the way. Days with my old man that I don't regret.

I'm the only idiot in the country that lives in Illinois and heads to Michigan to deer hunt. I have 2 beautiful farms to hunt with just average deer hunting. After every trip I look for a farm in Illinois. Get to spend the time with my Dad though, hard to put a price on that.
How it started.... how it's going. There's something insanely satisfying about seeing wildlife you care about, utilizing habitat and food you planted. Non hunters will never understand the dichotomy between caring for and harvesting the same animal.

You don't know what you're speaking of in regards to American cattle production. You don't live here, you're expertise may be elsewhere. This is what western cattle production looks like. BLM land filled with flora and fauna. Cattle transform arid land into protein.
