Retail beef prices In 2020 have averaged $6.40/lb through November, a record. Beef Industry sold more lbs domestically for more $ than anytime in history. This occurred during a pandemic which consumers could choose any protein they desire. - Cassie Fish #demandbeef #cattle

At large retail store in Denver. As beef producer im disappointed to see this sold as “choice”. Is this the acceptance we allow for choice standards. I know there are different levels of choice but believe an uneducated consumer who believes they’re buying choice deserves better.

Nice winter has allowed grass strs to stay on corn stalks till first of April. They can graze the residue along with 10lbs as fed supplementation per day and are as happy as a puppy with two peters. This saves a tremendous amount of delivered feed as opposed to feeding in lot.

Day 3 off of cow. Most of the bawl is out of the calves and they are tight around the bunk. Eating a rolled corn, liquid protein, distillers, and ground hay ration. Goal is to get them up to 1.5% body weight DMI intake as soon as possible and from there read the cattle/bunks.

At weaning I did parentage test on 19 best calves out of a group of 130 pairs. Cows were exposed to 6 bulls (3 two year olds and 3 yearlings) throughout 60 day window. 2 bulls sired 14/19 calves. My cheapest bull sired 7/19. The two $10k bulls in that group sired 1 calf combined.
