This is what I was alluding to in comments elsewhere about the new #Lions helmet. Their current logo works better with this, but if you insist on the 1961 then break it into side decal and stripes. Also, redraw the lion so it has the character w/out the awkwardness.

@NWIOren Just a thought… Rather than invent iconography that alumni/fans need to learn, use something familiar. Turn the Chapel into a lantern. Develop a cohesive system around the lantern which could includes a figure holding the lantern as well as a distinctive V (or VU) monogram.

Since I brought up the subject arrows, yes, I’m playing with/ the idea about a W-arrow interlock (no stencil) with arrows crossing on the back (cradle for numeral). I skinnied the stem and refined the arrowhead some. #HTTC #conceptart

Re-upping this since the name change talk is making the rounds again. My 4 steps take: 1A. Win 10 1B. Correct the Tanya unis. 2. Consider a simpler W. The stenciled W + "Commanders" is too on-the-nose. 3. Consider a name change. Addressing 1, 2 has more mileage tho.

This is the other idea that had jumped to mind for a retro helmet. For my Cleveland Guardians logo concept, I envisioned a wing accent being used as an extension of the program. On the @unimockups retro helmet it's campy as hell and I kinda love it.

"WTH were you thinking here?" I really like: the hidden arrow point in my concept logo; the idea of using the entire helmet; 1930s/40s leather helmets when teams asked "what if?" So played w/ a Wolverine approach putting the W on crown. This would need to be painted IMO. 5/x

My take: removing the Redskins name and old logo doesn't/didn't also require a total severing from the team's iconography; WSH has a deep bench. Pivoting the NA spear to simple golden arrows creates a bridge to team history; the wolf is part of that bridge. 3/x

"Why not put the wolf on the helmet?" I subscribe to the thinking that the logo doesn't HAVE to be on the helmet (e.g. Eagles, Rams, new Texans horns). I did consider it and like the idea, but I opted for helmet graphics that were an easier read. 4/x

Continued working the "90" into this @Lions concept logo. Since I was departing from the original prowling lion, I figured why not have some fun with the two bars and turn them into numerals. #wip Maybe unpopular opinion: Anniversary logos shouldn't only go on jerseys.

I really dig the NFL embracing the mascots and reimagining them in illustrations; it’s a great way to expand their brands. The Saints graphic is terrific; highlights why I advocate for WSH embracing a hog, wolf, or some other icon of DC culture. Need something more than “a guy.”

I started sketching this concept because fundamentally the released logos are flawed. We can subjectively disagree, but you can’t convince me the lighthouse as-is holds up when stitched on a golf shirt. The applications are where an athletic brand thrives or withers.

"Commanders" was a tough pill to swallow because: syllable count + its sound/ambiguity + "we haven't commanded s- in years" + there's not much you can make from it. Just saying, a lil alliteration, add some bite (and maybe go-go music) could make for a fun bandwagon to ride.

Did some more sketching on my take on the new #Siena Saints logo. Even w/out a halo and barrel, the dog needs to look like a St. Bernard (in single color, too.) Side note: I’d totally make the half court circle at MVP a golden halo.

Just late night doodling (even as I type this I see areas I’d want to rework) but IMO: 1. A simpler lion contour allows for lots of room to play with a chrome effect. Too many niches/cuts hurt the fluidity. 2. A solid 3D or airbrush artist could make this insane.
