@Grummz
TTRPG space is orders of magnitude worse than video games. Conventions are now starting to require safety tools ported over from BDSM (literally) to establish "safe" environments so that you don't traumatize your players at the game table.
Star Wars is bad, it is unsalvageable, you are a dork if you like it and nothing will ever change this. It's dead. When someone you love dies, you bury the body and move on. You don't continue to live with the corpse in your house.
Role players would do well to stop trying to put on a performance for everyone at the table and just focus on taking the game seriously. You don't need to be an actor to have an immersive experience in a table top role playing game.
Check us out on youtube at
If someone brought a deliberate self insert to the table I would reject the character, yes.
Role playing is about pretending to be someone *other* than yourself. That is literally the point and the killer feature of these games.
Zero imagination. Straight to jail.
Here’s the bottom line: If your wheelchair-bound friend comes to you and says they want to see themselves as a hero … EXACTLY as they are … and you aren’t even willing to consider the possibility?
You’ve just told everyone all they need to know about you as a person.
This is exactly the point. They aren't wheeling him around in a real world medical device expecting that he can accomplish the same thing as able bodied people, they are using the technology of the *game world* to make something way fucking cooler.
People talk about this, like Dreadnaughts didn't exist in Warhammer 40k
Is that solder blown half apart and going die?
Lets shove him in a giant robotic suit and put him back into battle!
You are a lunatic. Stop demanding that creators make statements on global politics; they don't owe you or the world *anything*. All you are doing is asking for Critical Role to burn good will with their customers.
Did you know?
Fish skin has shown anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties that support and improve healing in a variety of wounds including burns and diabetic foot ulcers.
Ongoing research is exploring this vs alternative techniques.
Another reason why disability dungeon delving is stupid and insulting. People who are missing some key part of a healthy human existence are overcome with joy when they can experience it again/for the first time.
Wanting to remain disabled, even in fantasy, is contrary to every
One is made by their tribe and is good because it is from an LGBT product. It promotes their religion/tribe.
The other is explicitly meant to appeal to normal people so it must be destroyed.
There is no principle but power. They use words to control, not to communicate.
Regarding our previous Indie RPG Creator Summit speaker highlight post: We acknowledge and want to address our oversight in representing the diversity of our community, and are committed to promoting inclusivity moving forward.
There is no idea in the RPG commentary that I loathe more than "there is no wrong way to play". This is not only false, it is a non idea and the equivalent to intellectual obesity.
I am happy to have flame wars with people who hold an opposing "one true way" to mine. Those
I'm not really sure why gamergate vets think the first gamergate was a defeat for gamers. It red pilled hundreds of thousands of people over night, and that's the only victory that matters. Corporate press is nowhere near as powerful as they used to be and a huge portion of the
Two obvious lies:
1. That nerds exclude women in the game shop rather than fawn and simp over them
2. That women have asked this person to escort them into the game shop so they "feel safe"

You are missing the point. When you post a video, it is shown to your core viewers *first* and based on their engagement with the video, youtube then shows it to a secondary pool of viewers etc. If your core audience is less interested in your content and does not engage at the
I'm now of the opinion that if fantasy games don't have a mass combat system built in, I'm significantly less interested in them as it is bound to come up at some point and I don't want to make something up.
For modern settings I'm not sure this matters as much.

The point is that people are sabotaging their own games and they don't even know it. The idea that every approach is equally valid is ridiculous and not something we accept in any other sphere of life.
Your table. Your players. Your rules. I despise Critical Role's fanbase as much as the next guy, but don't tell people to sabotage their own games over it.
Ink is dry. We will have the official announcement soon, but we are writing a full RPG for a gritty western property that you'll all remember. This is absolutely insane, I'm reeling
Recorded this last night. Posting because I need to get it out, and hope it connects with others in a similar space. <3

What are the actual distinguishing features between war games and RPGs?
Note: If you are incapable of thinking about features that separate them and only want to talk about games that straddle the line, then you have the right to remain silent.
For the last year I have been running my games *way* outside of my comfort zone in terms of my general gaming philosophy. I've been using a lot more old school principles and procedures at the table and experimenting with different modes of play. This has produced an enormous
Things I need TTRPG Creators to do in 2024:
- Ask who is at the table.
-Inform who will be at the table.
- Hold a standard for diversity and inclusion at your table.
-Refuse to be at the table until those standards are met.
- Apply this to Panels, Publications, and other works
Yes, the literal insane convicted pedophile released from an institution that very morning who threatened to kill Rittenhouse and literally grabbed the barrel of the gun was just totally harmless and throwing groceries at him.
When someone is trying to forcibly take a loaded
What's the world coming to when you can't shoot people for attacking you with a *checks notes* bag of groceries, and then shoot another person for *checks* trying to stop an active shooter. Lunacy.
That WAS a very sharp slice of mango, wasn't it Sir?

You are literally why these types of tools are needed.
Your selective caring of others feelings are why standardized tools are required.
A+ at getting into character as a person who believes that wanting people to have higher standards at the table is the same as wanting totalitarian control of those tables. They must be having a truly immersive experience right now.
As for your burning desire to force me and everyone else to play D&D according to your vision, you are welcome to try.
Seriously, try and make me.
I dare you.
It'll be amusing to see how far you get with fantasy of being the "dictator of D&D."
The fact is, you're completely
In our ACKS II game this weekend, the players had a mute henchman (his tongue was cut out by the local Legate). This henchman rolled high a *lot* and saved the party multiple times before having his guts spilled across the dungeon floor. They are throwing a heroic funeral for him
The reason is because the people writing and playing this sort of game have a philosophical preference for affirmative stories rather than aspirational stories.
"You are perfect the way you are" vs "You could be so much more"
Loser mind set.

Why though? Why the actual fuck would a disabled character adventure in the first place? I kinda maybe sorta if I squint get blind/deaf because those are status effects.
@blacklodgegames
One of the weirdest and most fun - in the wrong way - experiences I've had recently was joining a 5e D&D game with a bunch of "cooperative storytelling" people, most of which were obsessed with Critical Role.
I played a monk with a standard array. It was enough to break every

No. Pundit is demanding that people engage in a humiliation ritual. The choice is to apologize for something you *should not apologize for* or to have some self respect.
There is only one choice.
@Grummz
If you point out how ridiculous these things are, the social justice goblins will accuse you of wanting to run games about lynching minorities, torturing animals, and subjecting female player characters to rape and torture.
These people are not normal and are actively
Predator should be left alone. The first movie is perfect and exhausted the premise. There is nowhere to go that can add to it. All additions have been inferior.
Make sure to get consent before playing the game about sex and murder where you literally commit assault every night for all eternity in order to live.
Pre determined stories are incompatible with roleplaying as predestination implies removing choice and agency. Roleplaying games (including d&d) produce good stories through play. You just don't have the story until *after* you've done the activity.
Good story games can be played RAW, without rule 0. These games exist, and they are not
#dnd
clones.
D&D is bad for story games, because its rules are for pulp fantasy role playing, often at odds with story gaming, and thus rule 0 must be employed in order to "play" it.
This one is ugly and no one believes your feigned ignorance. Corporate journalists hate Stellar Blade because it presents a character that is attractive to straight men. That is the only reason.
How are people misunderstanding this so hard. One character design is fantastic, she represents love lust and beauty really well with a dash of androgyny (which isnt only trans women btw)
The other character is a lot more lazy and exists to attract clicks with goonclips stay mad
What are your first principles when it comes to RPGs? It should be obvious that for us, the central axis on which everything else orbits is character immersion (i.e. the feeling that you were really there/the experience of living in the imagined world).
A lot of time and energy
I love YouTube comments because people will come in guns blazing and say the most condescending and insulting things imaginable and then immediately shit themselves in rage when you aren't polite to them.
They don't understand that I'm not locked in here with them.
For me, poker is just a game. I only play very casually. I have friends who take it seriously and routinely clean out boomer wallets in real games.
I have never once told them "hahaha it's just a silly CARD game bro, all ways of playing poker are valid"
Reminder that D&D has never viewed non humans as stand-ins for real world ethnic groups. This is from the AD&D 2e PHB (1989). Other races differ from humans so significantly that they merit mechanical differences. Even the strongest halfling can't match STR of an ogre.
People think I'm exaggerating when I say that the advice given to GMs in commercial RPGs is almost universally terrible. I'm not exaggerating.
Here's the Final Fantasy tabletop RPG on how to handle a party's defeat. It is hard to imagine worse advice to give to GMs.
We are approaching The Signalarity. Some day soon, all forms of human communication will serve the sole purpose of signalling allegiance in the cultural divide.
Announcement day is finally here! We are making our first RPG in association with some big names, but we will need YOU to help make this a reality. Come check out the announcement video and back our first kickstarter!

Don't ever let anyone tell you who you are allowed to talk to. Mono culture in ideas is very bad, and talking to people with different ideas than your own is very valuable.
I am getting comments from people who are unhappy about some guests featured on my channel.
That is the point. I want to talk to people with diverse opinions about RPGs.
My channel is not an echo chamber. I want to use it to build bridges and promote open and polite discourse.

Batman. I’m sorry, a billionaire pours his time, effort, & resources into dressing up as a bat & beating up mentally ill people, and that’s something I’m supposed to root for?

safety tools is literally just this meme. Be normal, keep your fucking S&M inspired shit in the bedroom, don't bring it to the table.
You don't have to put up with this. It's just weirdos.
@SmokingWR3CK4G3
It's literally just weirdos trying to wage war on normalcy. It's the HR department imposing itself at the table. Everyone be normal challenge, difficulty: impossible
The truth about the

is that there is no actual argument or reason that can be provided to convince the people promoting it that it is stupid. They simply have bad values and are using this to spread bad values.
You should want to use your legs.
@blacklodgegames
It's almost as if, in a universe with skilled artificers and magic, one could be made to walk again after being paralyzed.
Unfortunately, no spell or tinkering will ever be able to cure these people's lack of a sense of humor. That's permanent and terminal.
Not all fun or satisfaction is equal. This is easy to understand if you've ever taken something seriously and moved beyond the most surface level enjoyment of an activity.
People hate it when anyone strives for excellence in any endeavor. I will never respect that loathsome
"Balanced encounters" are boring as hell. It's like playing a modern FPS with skill based match making.
I miss the thrill of hopping into one server and absolutely decimating a bunch of weaklings onto to be immediately filtered in the next match by people who are way better
Also more evidence that you should never treat these people as arguing in good faith. The cannibals aren't genuinely arguing the philosophical merits of eating human flesh, they are asking you to get in the pot voluntarily.
Even if this doesn't concern you directly, it gives you some insight as to how these targeted smear campaigns work and what the ethics of the people behind them are like. It's also an eye opener in that you might have supported some of them inadvertently.
If you are not disabled, then I don't believe you should say whether a "Magical Wheelchair" is good or bad for the Fantasy World.
I think those who are able to work and are creating those "Magic Items" lack understanding of what they are doing, but that is only my opinion.
