I was 38 when I did my (unpaid) summer internship here in Dubai. A young “colleague” at the agency asked me “but how are you going to MANAGE here in PR, you don’t have any media contacts and you don’t know ANYBODY?” Don’t ever let those other voices discourage you. Keep going.

What a fantastic day. Last week I was rejected 🙅🏼‍♀️ three days in a row for jobs, including that bizarre interview cancellation an hour before it was scheduled. Three days in a row is kinda rough no matter how resilient you think you are. I’m SO happy I signed a job offer today!

Went to Muhammed Iqbal Restaurant in Al Barsha today. Really liked the awesome service and extremely reasonable prices. This Chicken Lahori, Naan, LabanUp and karak was 28 AED. Perfect dinner after a pricey visit to VW. Extra points for the fluffy Naan, it was so good!

My dad tested positive for Covid in Denmark. He got his first Pfizer jab on April 14. Luckily, he only has mild symptoms so far - no loss of smell or taste and just a mild headache. He had a bit of fever the other night. He just retired at 70, and I really need him to be okay.

It’s the first time I have seen the mounted police here for cricket matches. In typical Dubai-Police-is-just-too-cool style, the officer simply asked “Do you want to take my picture?” and made my life soooo much easier because I was embarrassed to ask. Love this shot so much! 🤩

SO funny to see a product that I named on the shelves in Carrefour. It took that company more than three years to launch in the market, but better late than never, I guess. I think the name is quite genius, “Berry Nice”, and it’s small a victory for me that they kept it 😂

I had the most INCREDIBLE National Day yesterday. I don’t even know how to describe it or where to begin. I got a jalabiya/sheila makeover. The setup had a retro/nostalgia theme. The entertainment options were endless: Quizzes, games, dancing, and hopscotch. HOPSCOTCH! 😅🤩

Yay, my solar lights finally turned on today. Let’s just say clean energy hasn’t been very stable for me so far. The LED candles in the lanterns turn on every 24 hrs. Very smart! 🥰

I baked a very nostalgic “Dream Cake” from Denmark today. Used my grandmother’s mixer. Reduced the portion so it could fit my cast iron skillet 🍳. The result: SO YUMMY AND SO INCREDIBLY FLUFFY!🤩
