I think Kicap Kipas Udang is missing out on the travel size bottle/packet market. Think about all the opportunities to sell for takeaway & travel groups.
I need to admit something. There was a time in my life I thought I was not good enough to get a job outside of Malaysia. Then I got a break & worked in a MNC under a French boss. He empowered me to lead regional and then global roles. And then I was offered to move to Japan HQ.
To be honest, I would've done TVET if I was better informed of the career path. Back in the day anyone who was academically good were pushed to do science stream. Arts & TVET were lower class. Seems like the mentality still exist.
Students who are not interested in continuing to Form 4 can take an exam to pursue skills training through TVET programmes.
DPM Ahmad Zahid says that discussions with the MOE are underway to implement a special non-written test by year-end.

My wife sacrificed her career because of similar concerns. And by the time our kids were old enough, she found it extremely difficult to be hired because she left the job market for so long. It's unfair really.
@melatinungsari
Patut cakap something snarky like, "You know how the Dutch colonized Indonesia and they get special visa coming here? Ya, same thing with us and UK."
I Hacked
@NASA
(again) and reported some vulnerabilities to them. Just today, I received this appreciation letter from them after they patched the loopholes!
Just found this gem. Pre-covid, PMX
@anwaribrahim
visited our lab & we showed him what a bunch of local Malaysians can do with our AI platform. We're progressed so much from those days. Here's hoping for a better gov support to deliver Malaysian made AI tech worldwide
Personally aku kurang respect orang yang nampak berjaya, tapi kuat pakai duit grant & parents/in-laws are orang besar. Lepas tu ada hati nak samakan macam the rest of us. Pergi mampos.
Sigh..
Personally aku kena buli by our own govt agencies bila cuba nak create new tech business. Not only that, GLCs screwed me over on projects I was more than able to deliver. So this post rubs me the wrong way la. Bukan sebab bumiputera tapi sebab aku bukan someone well connected
Ini jemputan untuk kena kecam.
Apa visi saya untuk mengupayakan penyertaan ekonomi Bumiputera?
Saya datang dari keluarga susah, jadi pandangan saya mengenai sosio ekonomi banyak dipengaruhi oleh didikan ibu bapa saya semasa kecil.
It built my confidence and validated that I'm worthy. And Alhamdulillah, I still get offers for jobs overseas. But I started my career in Malaysia. I know how shitty things are here because I also experienced the shitty things. The difference is, I got a break.
@ironqil
Start kerja company local. Belajar the trade and excel at the work. Build relationships and show results of work with contacts and after 5-10 yrs of good track record, go apply. And then apply lagi. And then apply lagi. No shortcut.
@LyanaKhairuddin
Actually, what's wrong with folks wanting to leave if they can't see a future for their kids? It's not like i haven't given my blood, sweat and tears for this country. I even nearly died. Go check your privilege too.
It was clear to me then that even though the global private industry acknowledged my capability, I will struggle with my own govt. I don't need their validation. I just want to make this venture of mine succeed because I want to give others their break and we all succeed
I'm now making a choice to give up my own personal success because I want to build an ecosystem and let us all get our break. Because that's the right thing to do. There are many in the country with potential that we don't give a chance. And that is what makes me angry.
I was actually in a few meetings with Iris PMO for this project. Memang quite obvious they were a bodoh sombong bunch. Happy they lost the contract. Banyak kali benda camni jadi dekat Malaysia govt and we never learn. Last2 rakyat suffer. Everybody else unharmed
Should that fail though, I'll probably sell off everything and migrate to another country. Because at the very least I can't let my wife and kids suffer.
I expect any day 1 release of an app is expected to have problems. It happens to everyone: Microsoft, Google, Amazon included. It happened to PADU. The expected behavior then is to identify the gaps and start fixing it one at a time. I think the team behind it is. Good job. 1/n
We've managed to improve the accuracy of our ALPR detector to above 99% for all sorts of Malaysian plates. Not only that, all the detection is done at road speeds in real-time on an Intel CPU. No special hardware. No need to stop to detect.
I personally tried to get govt support AFTER I came back from Japan, but was summarily denied. Had to find a job to make ends meet while still building my startup, and easily got a regional post in Intel. Meanwhile, only after we've proven some success did govt offered support
@chairman_GLC
Let's be FAIR. University grads sekarang pun makin lama makin out of sync with industry needs. Malaysia punya TVET programs pun neither here nor there. Maybe it's better to just start an apprenticeship at the next job and learn hands on
Pasal server CIQ terbakar. Aku actually tak terkejut & tak peduli. Ada je monyet dalam tu yang sengaja tanak buat benda betul. Trust me, ada je orang yg propose either High Availability atau DR solution, tapi kena rejek dgn alasan " lkita dah buat. " Sekian.
As a software company that write and own our source codes and AI models, it disturbs me to see demands in govt tenders to pass our source codes over and ownership to the govt of Malaysia. Wtf, You want me to close shop? Aku kasi license to use je la macam Microsoft. Cukup la.
20 tahun dulu memang cita2 nak kerja dekat US lepas dah grad. Tapi tak dapat. Somehow rezeki, keje MNC w/ US HQ. Biz trip la ke US every quarter. At some point US jadi polarized towards foreigners, especially muslims. And these days aku just avoid US. It's not the same anymore
To give context the team only had 6 weeks and a very small dataset to curate the most optimal AI model, train it, tweak it and iterate until we got to this level of quality. All on a shoestring budget. Imagine how much better it could be if we had more time and data.
A constant reminder of Malaysia's failure to recognize and support a local unicorn. Lepas dah pergi Singapore baru terhegeh-hegeh. Learn from your mistakes and do better lah. And congrats to GRAB. They deserve it.
Not having money to survive is one of the biggest hurdle to charting your own path, because your mind is filled with thoughts of how to pay for your next meal/meds/home/kids education. I didn't understand this until i didn't have anything left.
Good initiative. But can easily backfire if they're not linking up with industry and being sensitive with where the market is going. Takut nanti ajar outdated garbage.
Kementerian Pendidikan Tinggi (KPT) bekerjasama Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) dalam membangunkan Fakulti Kecerdasan Buatan (AI) pertama di Malaysia
Pelajar kohort pertama program Ijazah Sarjana Muda Kecerdasan Buatan (AI) akan memulakan pengajian Oktober ini
Not only that but also identify classes of vehicles in real time too. Imagine how such AI technology can drastically help improve our highway and traffic problems.
To be honest kan. Aku kagum dgn technical talent generasi ni. Aku terkial2 dah nak follow dgn the ever changing tech stack. Dah la aku bukan software guy. Tapi aku tengok budak2 ni sempoi je pickup. Selalu rasa tertinggal compared dgn diorang.
Ni betul la ni. Malakat Mall & CBD area is pretty much dead. Whatever Cyberview has been doing isn't really working. We took up space at Tamarind Square because it was a more lively area than most in Cyberjaya.
@chairman_GLC
Ini bisnis bagus ni. Net profit millions. Although, kalau dia spend more to reduce taxable amount pun no harm. Sebab money circulation tu helps economy gak. Tapi respek la in this day yg ramai startups & unicorns loss making.
Received a last-minute invite to my work email on Sunday night (which I don't check on weekends). Then tried calling to ask me to come this morning. The audacity to expect me to drop everything for their poor planning!
No thanks. Dodged that chaos.
This should not be condoned.
@terpalingcyber
Cemana la diorang boleh push without testing. Bukannya company kodi. Also, on enterprise user side change mgmt diorang pun ke laut. Never do software updates until dah test in staging env. Especially critical systems.
@neddokhan
That got me in the feels. I grew up in Perlis and had friends who come to school with selipar Jepun. These subsidy programs like kupon sarapan and susu sekolah really help them lessen the family burden. You can only imagine how difficult their life is to rely on these things.
So, a French based IT consulting company is looking for developers. Full stack, JS, TS, PHP, Java, C++. Doesn't matter. You know your chops. They'll test you and will hire if you pass. The APAC boss is a friend. Drop me a note if you're interested.
Officially letting the working world know today that I am a co-founder of ITXOTIC. Feels great to be out of stealth mode. Let's make some big deals happen.
Lol having lived in Tokyo for a few years, ye Jepun panas time tu. Tapi Jepun banyak tempat banyak pokok rendang, nyaman etc. Beach dia pun air sejuk. Summer festivals are also just as fun.

At one point was working at PETRONAS as a disaster recovery consultant. Gempaq ah konon.
Balik Perlih, jumpa sedara. Dia tanya, "Sekarang kerja mana?". To which i answered,"PETRONAS."
Then the next question was,"Oh, ye ke. Petrol stesyen yang mana satu?"
I quit 6 months later.
@niksxn
You can look at it in a different way. Random hours doesn't mean the work all the time straight. They take breaks here and there. Some days they prioritize getting something sorted at 3am, other days they start working at noon. There's some balance in the madness.
Gomen launched a new initiative today. Looking at the picture below, it's probably meant for people who have no idea about current state of AI. Okay kot. Andrew Ng's AI For Everyone free online course is probably as easy to understand with more content. So what's next?
Actually, all I ever wanted to do was build cool shit and be paid well for it. Tu jer. Tanak main politik, tanak hustle, tanak buat benda tak jujur. Just build cool shit that can benefit people.
@rafidah72
Protect the future generation by reading the bill thoroughly perhaps and seeing the big holes. The one you should be concerned is no punishment to the cigarette suppliers. Stop being selectively blind.
@rafiziramli
Personal experience YB, the issue is in the ministry and agencies. We innovate and push high tech solutions but get crippled when dealing with agency officers who don't know how to collaborate with us. The paradox starts there. Outdated policies nobody knows how to fix.
Ada certs yg berguna & regulated. Ada yang buang masa. Eg, certs from MBOT & BEM takde makna kalau buat kerja IT utk luar Malaysia. Tapi CCIE is worth it's weight in gold dlm Data Center Network industry. Pilihlah mana yang penting utk career anda. & back it up with experience.
It's official. ITXOTIC is an award winning company. And who better from than a prestigious organization like IET. This is a team effort. Congrats to the team.
5 tahun aku dah buat deep tech startup ni. In short, cara gomen kita bagi support vs cara modern countries macam Jepun, Germany, AU & US bagi support is like langit dgn bumi. Tak payah agak la siapa yang bumi.
Ok la. I would still follow up with an engineering degree kot at some point if i went up the tvet route. But only after I've got some hands on experience under my belt. Also to avoid Biology.
Wow.. Google made a big mess with their layoffs. Even cut access to a site reliability engineer who was still on call. I'm expecting a big negative response from the ex-employees and community.
Dulu ada orang tanya if we can detect is harsh conditions. These are examples of night time glaring lights, odd letterings and confusing multiple plates. I probably can't keep this up for too long. So enjoy.
Aku macam nak offer pakai space office aku utk a tech community event. After hours la tapi. DM me if you got ideas. It's in Taman Tun & dekat dgn the MRT station.
Gotta note this down. One of the most highly successful local startup told me that even though they've received millions of investment money, they ran their business without a physical office for more than 2 years. Gomen tak boleh brain this sort of working style aku rasa.
Seriously, your rose tinted glasses are on too tight. Yes, Malaysia is still pretty competitive, but I wouldn't go around claiming we're a hub of any sort. Our neighboring countries are quickly overtaking us, mind you.
Of the many AI projects done in Malaysia, these guys I can vouch are as legit as they come. Hopefully this will be a one off by our minister. We have amazing local talents. You need to empower them.
Kalau takde duit boleh deploy nak bayar makan minum & rumah new talents ni sambil dia nak buat AI, trust me it won't happen.
1. I was a Hitachi employee. It's a good company
2. I know Kumazaki-san personally. He's an honest and smart guy with a strong software engineering career
3. I trust Hitachi way more than Fusionex.
The stink is only coming from one corner
Aku kenal personally a senior guy dlm i2M ventures ni. Malangnya diorang dah kaya gila from big fat salaries. And at best they get a slap on the wrist for wasting the country's money. Cemana?
My first job in Malaysia was with Panasonic as an R&D engineer. It was just a lot of component design tweaking for AM FM radio circuits. Pretty basic EE know how really. Not the kind that
@rafiziramli
is probably aspiring towards.
Tak la harap US level salary. Tapi we're at the bottom 10 kot. A potential reason why STEM is withering? Or an opportunity to win big contracts at lower cost?
Software Developer salaries have crazy variations around the world.
One thing is crystal clear, though:
- Regardless of where you live, working remotely for a US company will increase your salary.
