For like 4 years every time I started my car and plugged my phone in it auto played A-YO bc alphabetically it was first in my library so “heeeree we go”
I found this matchbook on eBay and brought it home to Chicago, a piece of Boystown/Scarlet history!
Before Scarlet:
Late 70’s it was The Bushes
Late 80s briefly Nite Line
87-94 Rocks
After Rocks, Gentry, a piano bar
Finally in 2008 OG Scarlet moved in, burned down, and reopened.
Honestly I have no idea what a sex on the beach is and every time someone orders one I just pour a bunch of things that I think sound beachy into a cup and nobody has ever complained
I saw a post here about bullies in school and it reminded me of middle school when a guy called me a f*ggot and I was too tiny to fight so instead I broke into his locker and stole his new iphone and yeeted it into the lake during study hall
Today was 5 months at the gym & I left my workout early & feeling sad bc I feel like I’m not seeing results.. my trainer said that’s bc I look at myself every day so I compared pics from last summer, it feels so slow but I am progressing I guess
This week marks a year of being a full time graphic designer, mostly for Scarlet, with some freelance jobs. Here’s some of the things I had the most fun with this year :)
A whole community is hurting because of one persons stupid, selfish decision. There’s no excuse for driving drunk, but especially in a city where public transit/uber are readily available. This is a waste.
Charli if there’s any chance you possibly see this I want you to know Scarlet is the *only* bar here that’s been doing monthly Charli parties/brat release week celebrations and if you go out after the show it should be there 💚🥲
I’m proud to be employed by a bar that has multiple POC, trans people, and women on staff in all positions, including our weekly drag hosts, mixes all types of music, and celebrates rap/hip hop as well as Latin music and any other genre you can imagine.
